  1. My doc said my band was really difficult to get out as well. He was going to call the op off, the bottom part of my stomach had migrated up through the band and created a large distended pouch above the band. Funny I had no symptoms of anything being really wrong with it all those years ! Anyway he said it was like a dogs breakfast in there and referred to it as a ticking time bomb ! He said he had real trouble getting the bougie in, the op took twice as long but he managed it all in the one op. So happy with my surgeon, I'm 3 and a bit weeks out and still feeling great, hit a stall but not bothered about that anymore, I'm just sticking to the rules and exercising twice and day, no pain, no gas, lots of clothes that are already too big !!
  2. I took two weeks off work, but I felt well enough 2 days after surgery. I was fortunate, no gas no pain, nothing really, the nurses kept asking me to rate my pain, it was always 0 out of 10. I guess I was one of the lucky ones :-)
  3. Hi VSGAnn no I didn't think it would last for ever, however, I was hoping for more than 10 days. Thanks for your words of wisdom, I guess I'm a little impatient and this is my first stall, perhaps I thought in the back of my mind that those that had plateaus or stalls were maybe secretly doing something wrong, which I am not and I guess I began to doubt the successfulness of the operation, I'll try to stop stressing and will do my best to weigh myself less often :-)
  4. Thanks WhoKnows, I hope this stall only lasts 2 weeks, I guess I'm stressed because it's my first one. I wish there was a way to roughly estimate my projected weight loss over the next 3 months. I have a big event coming up in 3 months time and would love to have a rough idea in my mind if where I'll be at if I maintain my current level of activity and nutritional intake !
  5. Hey Tbahm, I'm sorry to hear of your troubles, am I reading right that you are just 5 days post op ? Things will get better, the weight gain will be related to the actual op I reckon and the iv fluids. Give it time to settle. Wishing you well and a speedy recovery.
  6. Thanks for all of your kind words and advice, I guess it's just so damn frustrating when the scales don't move even when you're doing everything right. I am going to try and take your advice and not be a slave to the scale, I'm down to once a day weighing now but will make and effort to move to every two days then every three etc etc !
  7. Ok guys, I need advice. I had the sleeve on the 12th August, post op I lost about 2-3lb per day after 10 days the weight loss stopped and I've lost nothing for the last 8 days I've lost nothing absolutely zilch ! I guess I was perhaps a relatively low starting weight of 245lb, I'm male and 182cm, currently I'm 222lb, I'm walking / jogging for 30 mins in the morning before work and walking home from work every day (about 45 mins). I have kept a food diary and my average daily intake over the last 10 days has been : calories 650, Fat 16g, Carbs 44g, Protein 80g, drinking 2ltr of water a day, taking all vits etc. So pi$$ed off right now ! What am I doing wrong ! I'm trying so hard at this and sticking to all of the rules :-(

  11. Hey there, all went unbelievably well ! No pain / gas / discomfort post op. Lost 20lb so far. Haven't felt hungry once. Off on my holidays today, in the airport as we speak, don't physically even feel like I've been through what I've been through ! So far it's the best thing I've ever done :-)
  12. Hey all, I'm now 6 days out and 18 pound lost ! Haven't felt hungry once, no pain or gas since operation. Mild reflux for 2 days only. Feeling great ! So far I'm very happy with my decision to have the band removed and get sleeved :-)
  13. Quick update, 6 days out and 18 pound lost ! Haven't felt hungry once, no pain or gas since operation. Mild reflux for 2 days only. Feeling great ! So far I'm very happy with my decision to have the band removed and get sleeved :-)
  14. Thanks all my surgeon got back to me he said it's fine, for some people liquids go through really well almost from day 1. He said it won't stretch the sleeve it'll go straight through. He said game will change when I start proper food. :-)
  15. Nope don't think that's true. Maybe some bad breath due to the low carb diet, same as with Atkins diet, doesn't last for ever, brush / floss more, drink more water, chew sugar free mints, no big deal.
  16. Hi guys, I had my surgery on Tuesday, so today is day four after surgery, my doc has said to start puréed diet already but I'm actually feeling quite satisfied with the liquid / Protein shake diet so I'm going to stick with it for at least a full week then introduce a puréed soup once a day for a couple of weeks and see how I go. I've lost 9lb already ! I went to a restaurant with my partner yesterday and sat and watched him eat a full meal, have a dessert and a big frothy sweet coffee. I had a glass of Water, cup of tea with skim milk and sweetener and not for one moment felt like eating. I also went through a Macdonalds drive through today and picked up a large Big Mac meal with coke for a friend and found the smell in the car horrible, again, I didn't have any desire to eat ! I hope this lasts !!!!!!!
  17. Thanks Kindle, so I won't stretch my new stomach with too much fluid ?
  18. Thanks I've just sent my surgeon an email he's pretty good a replying fairly quickly. It's weird, like I'm glad I have no trouble keeping hydrated but am worried that if I can get this much Fluid down so easily so early on, I may be able to get a lot of food down which I just don't want :-(
  19. No I'm not in hospital, I can drink it fairly quickly it one go, few gulps and down it goes.
  20. Hey all, I'm a bit concerned that I can drink too much fluid. I'm on my third day post surgery and I can easily drink 500mls in one go without any discomfort. Is this too much ?? Is this a sign that my new stomach is too big or something ?

  22. Just had my band removed and got sleeved, same op, out of theatre now and up on the ward sucking on my ice chips. I have to say I feel fine ! Pain is minimal at around 0 to 1 out of 10. I have started to have this occasional discomfort, where every few minutes, feels like reflux, never had it before, feels like a ball twisting at the bottom of my throat. Anyone have this so soon post op ?
