  1. I was sleeved on July 31st so I am coming up in 6 weeks out. My surgeon's instructions were not to eat more the 4 Oz of food and the food should only be proteins (except no beef or pork), peeled fruits, and cooked vegetables. I do that 3 times a day and most of the time I measure the food out so I don't overdo it during the time when my sleeve I fully healing. I also drink 100 calories of a protein shake 2-3 times/day depending on how long I am up. I can pretty much always take in 4 oz of food. I think once I am past 8 weeks I can try to increase the amount of food slightly. I lost 9 lbs before my surgery and have lost 27 pounds since my surgery... and I am feeling fantastic! Although it is hard to not eat starches, breads, grains... I crave those on the regular. I can't have those things for 6 months so hopefully the cravings will decrease over time.
  2. My surgeon warned about gaining 10-20 pounds from the surgery. When I was weighed the day after I had only gained 3 pounds. But I was urinating like crazy the afternoon of surgery and every day since! I am down 14 lbs since surgery (today is my 6th day post op)... But I just got off clear liquids and am now starting to eat some food and drink protein shakes so I am guessing the weight loss will taper off now.

    Tomorrow Is The Day!

Glad you are feeling better today sleeve0804! Today is my second day of eating food, yesterday was good and bad... I didn't feel great last night, but better this morning! I think my challenge now is figuring out how to keep up on meals, protein shakes, water, and the vitamins! I feel like I do good with one and then miss something else. It'll take some practice and better planning I suppose! I hope you have a better day today! Keep up the good work! :-)
  4. I was sleeved on July 31st. I was on clear liquids and jello until today when I got to eat some soft solid food. I have been healing great, getting in all my water and then some. I sometimes deal with air bubbles or something in my stomach that are uncomfortable for a moment but then pass. So day one of eating has been interesting. I was super excited and I felt pretty good after the first meal which I could only take in about 2oz. My second meal, I took in about 3oz. 3rd I was back to barely 2oz. I don't feel great tonight, my stomach is gurgling like crazy so tomorrow I think I am going to try sticking to some yogurt, cottage cheese, maybe refried beans... All super soft. Plus I have to get going on protein shake as I have to have those for all my snacks for the first 2 months. (my surgeon didn't have the lengthy liquid/protein shake diet before surgery.) The only other notable thing is my energy dropped drastically yesterday and remained low today. I am hoping now that I can start my vitamin regimen and am starting to get in some food that I will start feeling better! Glad I found this group of people who are close in timing as me- it's helpful to read everyone's experiences.

    Tomorrow Is The Day!

How are you drinking the water? We were told to sip only (no straws, no sport tops). I do notice sometimes that I must suck in air even with really small sips as I'll feel the air work it's way up, which is uncomfortable for a moment. Aside from those occasional times, I haven't had any issues drinking water. Good luck as you continue to heal.

    Tomorrow Is The Day!

I am day 5 post Op now, and all things considered, I feel really good! My hospital stay was good. The first day I was just really tired and groggy, I'd doze off and wake up alot. I felt a ton better once I got up and started walking! The hardest part for me is that I felt so thirsty, but was only able to have ice chips. When I started to feel too much pain, the nurses came to the rescue. When I woke up the next morning I felt tremendously better compared to the first day. They unhooked my IV fluids and monitors so I was more free to move around and walk. That morning I started drinking water and got a meal of broth, jello, and herbal tea. I was released mid-day to go home and have been doing great since! I have been drinking at least 64oz of water (sometimes more), eating broth and jello... Basically just staying hydrated. Day four (and I assume day five will be as well) I don't have tons of energy, I am assuming because I haven't eaten anything of any substance for a few days. But I am walking alot (again walking really helps you feel better and improves your breathing). One more day on clear liquids then tomorrow I hit my post-op class where they will make us our first meal! I wish you all the best today and over the next few days! :-)

    Tomorrow Is The Day!

Me too Brinana30! I was groggy and tired yesterday but am feeling great today! For those who haven't had surgery yet, my advice is to get up and walk as soon as you are allowed to do so. I felt tons better once I got up and moved!

    Tomorrow Is The Day!

I am having my sleeve surgery tomorrow as well! 6a check-in for 8a surgery in Scottsdale, AZ. I have been freaking out a little these past couple of days... But re-reading forums and all the information continues to set my mind at ease. I know this is the right choice- it's just getting real! :-) Good luck everyone!
