Positive Outcome........So Far
So glad to hear you had such a positive experience. Honestly, I really thought I was going to have the same type of recovery, I'm usually pretty lucky like that. I definitely knew I had surgery. I slept most of the day after my surgery, I don't even remember some of the conversations I had (must have had the good drugs). The following few days I mostly felt a little hung over, tired and foggy and moved a little slow. My stomach was sore but I also had to have a hiatal hernia repaired and they said that would cause a bit more soreness. But I was lucky enough to not have any gas pain and very little nausea. And now less than 2 weeks post op, I feel amazing. Overall though, not horrible or unbearable or anything. Anyone still anticipating surgery should just keep in mind that even if it does suck a little, it's finite and before you know it, you'll feel like yourself again. I think the fear of the unknown is worse than anything.

Struggling..
I had the same requirement by my surgeon. I just put my head down and pushed through it. The good news is that those pre-op pounds are gone and it's less that I have to lose now. If I can do it, you can do it. And you'll likely have surgery before you have time to regain any of that weight.

Sleevers 22 September - 28 September - Check in
@@❤️lovemysleeve My surgery was 9/24. Soups (without chunks) was on my full liquid stage. I got to start full liquids right away. I'm on puree now, a little early with my doctor's blessing. It's like a whole new world opened up with the puree stage.

Vsg 3 weeks post op
@@JenVsg2014 I just started puree and one of my favorite things is pintos and cheese with a scoop of ground beef from Taco Bell. I've even added a little light sour cream to it. It's really filling (I can eat about half) and it tastes like paradise. Maybe you just need a few things to try that change it up. I was having Soup when I was on full liquids and am so freaking sick of it now so I know exactly what you mean.

Got my date

Food panic attack
@@Kathy812 Your surgery date is on my birthday! I'm almost 2 weeks post op and I totally freaked out during the pre-op diet. I just had to do 2 shakes and a healthy meal but most days I had 2 shakes and a big fat meal. Needless to say, I lost 0 pounds during my pre-op diet. You will eat again and don't think that you'll never get a certain food again. I'm already on puree/soft foods and haven't had an issue with anything I've tried so far. Except oddly, the Protein shakes give me a little belly ache now. Personally I think getting stuffed like Thanksgiving dinner off of 2 oz of food is cool as heck. Imagine, you can lose weight without ever being hungry again. It's truly an amazing thing. All we have to do is make healthy choices and exercise.

Repulsed by food
I think I have the opposite problem. I'm not sure food ever tasted so good as it does now. Something about eating small servings and tiny bites makes me savor food more. My surgeon says nausea is normal up to 6 months post op. Maybe you need a nausea medication to help manage this. They prescribed me these little Patches to put behind your ears. Worked like a charm.

SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
I had my first post op appt today and it went really well. I started puree a few days early because I was so hungry and weak on just liquids. They were completely fine with it and told me to progress as I feel comfortable. What a relief to hear that versus them being really strict on following the time table. I know their goal is to get their patients on regular food as quickly as it's safely possible. Otherwise, I'm down 13lbs in 12 days since surgery. There's not a universe that I could complain about weight loss like that. I'm curious when that three week stall will start. At the start of the 3rd week or after 3 weeks. Either way, I'm sure it's headed my way.

One week before surgery...getting really nervous
Very normal. We imagine much worse than the reality of it. I slept a lot the few days following surgery but by day 5 or so, I felt really good. I'm not even 2 weeks post op and I feel really good. I'm able to work out now and my energy level has come up. It feels really good on this side of the surgery. All you have to do is make it to the other side and you'll be so glad you did. Hang in there.

Did you use sick time or short term disability?
I used STD but we don't have sick time. It took a week of my paid time off and then I started getting paid out at 70% of my salary. This would not be considered the same as plastic surgery. If it's covered by insurance it's considered medically necessary.

Sleevers 22 September - 28 September - Check in
I have had some tomato soup and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes have filled me up.

Did anyone use an abdominal binder post op?
I had one that they put on me before I woke up from surgery. It helped tremendously the first week. I took it off around a week or so post op. It just provided extra support to my weak/sore ab muscles that were cut and stitched. Helped me lay on my side and sleep without discomfort as well. I highly recommend it.

Week 4 ate too much help
From what my surgeon says, a leak is very painful and you'll know something is wrong. The food probably moved through as you ate.

Hernia ?
Mine wasn't discovered until during surgery. I found out after that he found it and repaired it.

I'm day 3 post op and IM STARVING!
I went through this for a few days. I wasn't physically hungry but my food demons were out there and they were strong. It went away on it's own a few days ago so hopefully it doesn't last long for you either. If you feel physical hunger in your stomach, it could be acid. I'm on Protonix from my doctor so I have not had this happen but I've read about it.

Scared and excited
Try to focus on the excitement and not the fear. Surgery is only one day and recovery is fast but the results last so much longer. Ask for Xanax or something similar now if you need something to take the edge off your nerves leading up to surgery. As soon as they put in the IV, ask them for medication to calm your nerves. I have no idea what the anesthesiologist gives you but you don't have a worry at all. They wheeled me into surgery and I moved over to the surgery table and never felt a bit nervous. The power of pharmaceuticals!

Sleevers 22 September - 28 September - Check in
I couldn't agree more. A few days ago, I went for a 10 minute walk and it kicked my butt. I was weak, shaky, out of breath, etc. Today I went for a walk and only stopped at 20 minutes because it was raining. I felt great after my walk today. I'm also feel less preoccupied by thoughts of food. It's not really bothering me anymore. Just try to get my fluids and Protein shakes and getting joy out of seeing the number on the scale drop.
