  1. Congratulations! Glad to hear it went well. :tt1: Get plenty of rest and feel better soon.
  2. You are neither one the oldest. I'm 54. Funny, the doctor said that the only risk factor I had for the surgery was my age?? Funny I never thought of 54 as particularly old. Oh well, I think it must be what you compare it too. I get my band on Feb 15 so I am only younger than you in band days.
  3. Welcome Laurieloo! Always glad to meet another Feb.15 band buddy. Funny, the thought of being in a wheelchair when I get grandkids is what pushed me into pursueing surgery. My DH and grown children are very supportive. 8 days and we'll be on the band wagon. Take care!
  4. I'm on the 15th too. I agree surgery is scary but so is being obese for the rest of my life. We can do this. Your girls will be a huge support to you. Only nine days to go.
  5. Glad you're home. Hope the pain gets better soon. Get as much rest as you can. Take care,
  6. Amy it's good to see you back on the boards. Glad it went well. I'm ready for the baton when Karen is ready to pass it on. Take care, both of you!
  7. Welcome, I'm a 54 year old retired second grade teacher. I work in higher education now, quite a switch but rewarding none the less. I am scheduled to get my band on Feb. 15 so you are right behind me. I think, other than one final house cleaning, I am ready. I'm finishing up the stuff I have to do at work this week and next :willy_nilly:and then I am off for two weeks. I plan to enjoy the ride.
  8. I know how you feel. I did my heart stress test this morning. It was a releif to get that over with. A week from Friday I will be on the band wagon. It's pretty scary. You'll do fine. You've lost 17 pounds pre-op so you are on your way in good style. Take care. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.
  9. That is sooo frustrating. Glad to see you back on the boards. Hope you are feeling fine.
  10. Way to go Cynthia. 15 pounds in 5 days is my kind of weight loss. I hope I do as well. Don't get back into things too fast. Give yourself time to heal.
  11. Thanks Faith, That is a big help.

Welcome Brandy, I am scheduled for February 15 with Dr. Scott at DePaul. I'm glad to hear that you had a good experience. I have been extremely impressed with the staff and facilities there. Wow 56 pounds in 3 months! :waytogo:That is pretty awesome. I hope I do as well as you do.
  13. Has anyone ordered a Medical Alert Bracelet. My doctor strongly recommends them because of the danger of perforation with an NG tube in an emergency. Any thoughts? How did you word it and what information did you put on it?
  14. My doctor's office suggest a small fan in case the room is too hot, apparently the rooms are small and tend to be stuffy. They also suggest a robe, don't need slippers because they give you sockies, books to read, lip balm, your own pillow in a colored pillowcase (not white like the hospital's) portable DVD player,
  15. Welcome home. Glad it went well. Get plenty of rest! :couch2:When you feel better let us know how it went. :wink2:
  16. My height was 1/2 inch taller than I had ever been. :confused:That is really the only way I want to grow at this point.
  17. Congratulations! The approval is the highest hurdle. Good luck with your appointment with your surgeon.
  18. Has anyone had a chemical stress test. They say I can't use the treadmill because I'm too large(???) so they will inject something to make my heart go faster? Anyone able to explain this to me?
  19. 4Jin, You've been our best cheerleader here. Now it is your turn for us to cheer you on.:Banane20: I'll be praying for you.:Banane20: We'll be waiting to hear how it went.
  20. Welcome back Cynthia. Glad it went well and you are on the road to recovery. Take care of yourself and get lots of rest.
  21. You are all going to hate me. I have no pre-op diet. I just have to eat small light meals the day before surgery. Can't really believe it myself.
  22. Congratulations! I would say it was quick but there is nothing quick about six month's supervised diet. Glad your insurance went through so quickly.
  23. Hang in there. :yesnod:It took my doctor's office three weeks to send the paperwork, the insurance company a month to approve it and then another three weeks to get in the pre-op class at the doctor's office. I really wanted my surgery in December but February will be fine. Now I only have one small hoop to jump through (stress test) :Banane40:and then it is smooth sailing to surgery. It is coming up faster than I thought it would. Two weeks from now I will have my band.
