Good luck next week: Feb 11 - 15th
Thanks ladies. I'm feeling the good vibes today. Believe it or not I am not too nervous. I have been making lists all morning but I think I am about finished with that. I hope to be back online Saturday afternoon. My hospital doesn't have internet access.

Good luck next week: Feb 11 - 15th
How awful for you! Looks like they could have given you a call at home before you drove all the way to the hospital. I hope you don't have to rearrange too much stuff to make it happen next week.

St. Louis People
There are quite a group of us going to DePaul. Have you gone to a seminar there yet John? My DH and I went last week and it was extremely informative. DH was quite concerned about he procedure and now he is 100% on board for me to have it. The staff at the WLI are great. Welcome aboard.

I survived! Haha

Clothes after Surgery
I bought a couple of lounging gowns. One is sweatshirt material with long sleeves, high neck and floor length. I think I am going to wear that home from the hospital. As someone else said, I have to get from the wheelchair to the car and the car to the front door so no need to be stylish. I figure these and my flannel nightgowns will get me though the first few days at home. What I wear after that will depend on where my incisions are and how much they hurt. I didn't have any particularly yucky tests, just the usual, EKG, pulmanary function, chest x-ray, stress test and gallons of blood for testing. I was surprised that I didn't have to have more tests but I'm ok with that.

I have my consult tomorrow....any advice??
Hang in there. All of these appointments seem frustrating now but it really is designed to make the surgery easier and safer for you. Before you know it, you will be two days from surgery like I am and wonder where the time went. Take care and enjoy the journey.

VENT! Suprise Dr. Doesn't Take Insurance Anymore
I think most surgeons require a seminar before making an appointment. If you already have insurance approval it shouldn't take too long to get the other ducks in a row. I had to wait for insurance approval before they would give me an appointment with the doctor. That was pretty frustrating too. I had originally chosen a different doctor but my inusurance wouldn't pay for her. Now I am about 30 minutes further away but I like the center much better and it is costing me a lot less. Good luck to you. My advice is, sign up for the seminar as soon as you can and go from there.

Good luck next week: Feb 11 - 15th
Thanks for all the good wishes. It's an exciting week to be entering bandland. Good luck to everyone this week. My surgery is at 10 a.m. on Friday. What a way to start the weekend. It works out nice since DH will be home all weekend and Monday (Federal Holiday) so he won't have to take but one day off work and I won't be alone for the first few days.

That is really good to know. Were you on the sixth floor. That is where they said most of their bariatric patients go? I'm nervous enough that I am getting curious about the little details now. Anything you would suggest taking to the hospital? do they have internet access in the hosptial?

Last day.....to surgery I go!
Not only does it sound good, it sounds easy. Thanks for sharing. I get to start creamed soups on day 11, as soon as I have seen the doc for my followup.

Patti, That is a terrific idea. I'm not sure I know where to start when it comes to recipes for the stages.

Finally banded 02.02.08!!
Congrats on your band. I can hardly wait for mine. Give yourself a little time on the weight loss. Your body is still recovering from the drugs they gave you and probably still holding onto some of the IV fluids they pumped into you. If you are sipping Water as you should that will plump up your tissues (as it should) and make you appear heavier in the short term. try to weigh yourself only once a week. If you must weigh yourself, do it in the morning before you eat or drink anything. It's only been a week. The pounds are probably already gone but with all of your liquids it just isn't showing. Hang in there. We are all cheering for you!

Last day.....to surgery I go!
Twelve pounds in a week isn't bad. :waytogo:It was worth missing the Super Bowl food wasn't it.:cursing: I'm so happy for you!!! I'm four days away. :tt2: Thank you all for all of your support. A couple of months ago we wondered if any of us would ever make it and now, here we are!

Hi MissouriMom and Cosmo24 Glad to see some other DePaul folks here. I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Scott this Friday. So far I have been extremely pleased with the staff at the WLI and Dr. Scott. The hospital staff for Pre-admission testing has been good. I'll let you know after Friday what I think of the hosptal. I hope I can be 56 lbs down after three months. That is pretty amazing.

It's Reality Check Time!
Hey, I'm with you both, I'm avoiding the horror stories because they just mess with my mind. The positive stories are the ones I'm concentrating on until Friday when I have my surgery. It's going to be a good day!

Last day.....to surgery I go!
Thanks 4Jin and Amy, Hard to believe it is only five days. I'm getting excited but when I look at the list of things I still have to do to get ready I get really scared. At least I will be too busy to worry.
