Is this the poll or is there going to be a more official one. My vote is for November Nymphs. Of course the men out there will want a more generic name.

I've lost 6 kilos so far (13 lbs) so far... happy with that. How much have you lost?

Thanks for this. I haven't had a fill yet, only 2 weeks out of surgery but am worried that things may go wrong at that stage since I've had a breeze run so far.

I just threw it in there and some people ran with it. Energised Elevens has a great ring to it... happy to go with that as well.

Will she be as upset if you tell her after it's over?... she'll know that you are ok and there's nothing to worry about by then.

Why don't you talk to your doctor about whether you can have 1 night off since it is only your pre-op diet.. no harm in checking.

Everyone's different but I was sleeping on my side almost straight away. Of course now, almost 2 weeks later, there's no pain at all.

I did say it may not work for the guys. For those worried about being known as nymphos...Nymphs are like fairies. Nymphs were an important part of Greek mythology and religion. They were revered as the spirits of specific natural features - mountains, rivers, trees, and even groves were usually associated with a type of nymph. The name "nymph" comes from the Greek word that means "young woman", and so naturally these beings were considered to be female. Indeed, they were represented as lovely and eternally youthful creatures.

I started the mushie stage yesterday. I'm allowed 1/2 cup of food per meal. Then in between I am allowed 1/2 cup of something like yoghurt or blended fruit. So far so good.

I would give him or his nurse a call and talk to them about it. I'm sure it's fine... gnocchi is a pretty mushie food so probably no damage done.

That's unusual... no liquids. Anyway, from what I've read here, it's not unusual to be hungry and able to eat more than we should at this stage. When is your next visit to the Dr? I believe we don't get our first fill until we are healed... 4-6 weeks after surgery.

Hi Ralph, I think we were banded on the same day and I was doing well until yesterday... got first pangs of hunger and today totally dissatisfied with the foods I was eating (thick liquids). Even though I haven't tried, I think I could eat a meal as well. I'm seeing my dietician tomorrow so expect to be on mushies after that... breathing sigh of relief! Are you eating mushies yet?

I also don't want to upset anyone. Besides I was talking about the comments Cindy's doc made. In the end we all have to follow our dr's rules, which I must say I am doing to the letter and it seems to be working fine for me.

I'm not knocking the process Longhorn, I understand that we need to follow what rules our doctors give us but from what I've read here over the last couple of months it seems that the standard is 2 weeks fluids, 2 weeks mushies. In Cindy's case, her doc doesn't believe in having broth... so what makes him more right about this than any of our drs. I'm just saying you also have to make sure that you are not being starved by a doc who actually said he wants his patients to lose the weight as quickly as possible.

Cindy, it's hard to help because you should listen to your doctor but at the same time, you could have had your surgery with any one of our doctors and doing it differently. I think it is a good idea to speak to your doctor's office and see what they say. I only started on thicker soup because I spoke to the nurse about what I was eating and she said that it was okay to have that now and as I mentioned earlier, jelly & light custard. I agree that you should be doing this the healthy way. It sounds like he wants quick success stories... remember it is a business for them and the more you lose, the better he can sell it. A little cynicism doesn't hurt I guess.

Truly... I couldn't imagine eating anything those first few days... only just managing thick soup and it's day 10 for me. I guess 1/2 cup of mushies would be ok now.

Hi Cindy, I was banded on the 1st as well and I was told I could now have thicker Soups but must be blended so my sister cooked me up some vege soup and blended it for me. I found I could only have 1/2 cup each time. If it gets too thick, I Water it down slightly. I am also now allowed jelly and light custard... had no trouble eating them and don't feel hungry. I must say, I'm amazed at what some people are eating in the early stages but if their doctors say they can. who am I to say they shouldn't.

I'm from Sydney Australia and our health system is different to yours. My private health fund paid for the hospital costs except $500 which is the excess. The anaesthestist has charged me $1,300 but should get some of that back through medicare and my health insurance. The surgeons charged me $5,200 but that will cover the next 12 months of visits, including fills. Anything else they charge will be bulk billed (free for me). I should get around $700 back of that from medicare and my health fund. I guess, the overall cost for me is around $5-6,000. I have paid $2,000 so far and was told I could pay the last $3,200 on a monthly basis over a 6 month period. Happy with that. Already I think it's worth it. :whoo::whoo:
