  2. Hello, I am having my sleeve surgery on 9/17...I am very anxious and I am looking for successful stories of folks losing 150-200+ lbs..... I have about 190 lbs to lose and I am terrified of stalls and things I have heard but from the folks I am hearing this it is all who have under 100 lbs to lose. I could really use some enlightenment or words of advise from folks who have the same amount to lose.

  5. I am being sleeved on Sept 17th by Dr Emma Patterson here in Portland Or I have about 185 lbs more to lose after the sleeve~ anyone else on sept 17th?????
  6. Hello, I am so sorry to hear you were not able to have it done the first time! That must have been hard waking up and hearing it was not done! I cant imagine that! I was asked by my dr to lose 20 lbs so I was 408 and I am 386 now I have 3 more lbs to lose and I have my surgery set for Sept 17th I have been on a modified liquid diet for 2 months and I am ready to get this done...I will be an all liquid diet starting on Wednesday for 7 days prior to my surgery. I think that is sure to lose the 3 lbs with that but just in case, I am also working out like crazy. best of luck to you and I will be here as soon as I am able to wake up from surgery lol
  7. So, I started this journey on June 5th and now my surgery date is set for Sept 17th. I check in at 9 am and I am so anxious. I have read so many good things and a few bad things as well. I bought the Big book on the Gastric Sleeve and it has been wonderful reading it and getting all my questions answered. I have tried very hard to sip Water and chew my food and really, it is all something that I think I can do...My biggest fear is dealing with the possible complications...like leakage and blood clots...that terrifies me. I searched the Internet for ways to avoid complications but see that sometimes, they just happen so I am trying to put my mind at rest and just let go and do what I am told and hope for the best. One thing that has me puzzled is many people my size dont do the sleeve...they go with the RNY and may nave told me its because I wont lose as much with the sleeve...but I have been told that both he RNY and the sleeve produce the same 60% of excess weight, and that for some they even lose 100% or more of there excess weight! anyone sleeved that has lost over 200 lbs with sleeve?
  8. I have been on a clap for three years. I am hoping once this is all said and done that I won't need it. It's not very sexy lol I hope that your surgery date is set soon....I see the surgeon on the 15th and I am praying she sets a date!
  9. UPDATE~ So I completed my psych eval Friday June 27th. That was my last appointment before scheduling with the surgeon. This morning my apt was set with my Surgeon and I will be seeing her on July 15th. From what I am told she is about one month booked out so the soonest I can get in for surgery will be about mid August which is what I had in mind anyhow! I am so excited. For the next two weeks I am on a low cal low carb NO sugar diet...then I will be on the liquid diet prior to the surgery so basically life as i knew it is now over...amen!!!!!
  10. so, I am all set up with my initial appointment so I will add to this thread as I go. I have been overweight for about 20 years. I am 42 and recently within the last two years I have found that while I can starve myself to lose 20 lbs in several weeks, it effortlessly comes back and then some and I have learned that I am somewhat of an emotional eater. I had Kaiser insurance for the last 6 years and I was not covered for WLS so I just accepted that I would be this weight. A recent visit with my new DR, and she talked to me about WLS and I of course said, oh I cant my Ins wont cover it...she left the room and came back with a surprise for me that under my new plan, I was covered. on June 5th I contacted OWLS, Oregon Weightloss Surgery Center and was later contacted by the staff of Dr Emma Patterson. A few short (grueling) weeks later, I am set up with all my apts and I will see the surgeon later in July. On that June 5th apt, I found out that my borderline diabetes has now been diagnosed as full blown type 2 diabetes and my High blood pressure and metabolic syndrome are all life threatening life shortening diagnosis.....I am terrified of the surgery due to my not having any surgeries in my entire life, but I know that without this, I will not be here much longer and I want to watch my 6 grandchildren grow up....i want to be here for my daughters to watch them raise this kids and be here to help them! I bought, The big book on Gastric Sleeve and I read it every day....I am shooting for a surgery date in August or sooner and I look forward to becoming successful for once at getting this 190 lbs off my body so I can start living my life again.
  11. How exciting congratulations
  12. So my insurance was verified and I was notified that would be getting a cAll to set up my initial appointments!!!! I am so excited and ready to do this!!!!!
  13. Has anyone heard of this being waived? My PCP knows how long I have struggled with my weight, knows that I have gone to her for help and lost 20 just to gain 40...has anyone heard of BCBS insurance waiving the 6 months in any extreme cases????
  14. Hello, I am starting at 398....I had no idea that this process could take a year or more before getting a date....i thought it was somethng I would be doing soon....i am feeling very sad now....
  15. i have not seen the suregon yet, im waiting for my insurance to clear....but your post caught my eye....i have both types of sleep apnea and have been on a cpap machine for 3 years....will that cause a problem for me to have the sleeve done????
  16. i am waiting clerance for insurance to get started! are you post op?
  17. how exciting for you!!!! i am still waiting for them to clear my insurance and get me scheduled!!! until then i am on a 1200 cal diet to see how much i can get off before i go see her and get going, its kinda like my last ditch effort to see if i can do this on my own...i hope to be moving along soon!
  18. I decided I would do the sleeve. I have been losing and gaining the same 40-50 lbs since 2000 and I am tired of it. Now that I made my decision some of my friends and family have expressed to me that I should just continue to try it on my own because of the risks involved. Is anyone feeling like this????
  19. I cant wait to be at the part!!!! I am so excited and nervous and just I CANT WAIT!!!!
