  1. Mal-I am so sorry about your sons friend. Wow. How devastating. I don't even really know what to say because there is nothing that can lessen the blow of hearing that news. Please know that I am sending cyber hugs your way. (And Brutus sends slobbery mastiff kisses too!) Bahot-If I've said it once, I've said it 100 times...you are a MILF! Love the outfit with the brown shorts, very cute! Dee-You look absolutely GORGEOUS dear!!!! You are glowing in your 6 month pic!! I am so proud of you!
  2. She got on the list but not high enough to get the job.
  3. Dee-that is so funny! I also had my fair share of getting car windows knocked on by parents moments!! I was kind of a hoochie when I was a teenager! (OMG, did I just admit that on the internet?) Happy Birthday Denver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have fun at your foot spa party!!!! Brandy-I love, love, love your daughters description of her reflux. As a nurse, I can definantly say that if a little one said that to me, I would be giggling to myself, but secretly wondering what the heck they were talking about! Good thing momma is there to translate to the healthcare professionals! Ok folks....my sister just called and said she got her letter in the mail from the police dept....but here is the kicker....she had the neighbor look in the mailbox and she is still an hour away at work at Camp Lejune!! I am going to DIE from curiosity!! (And worry now that she has a hair up her hiney about Iraq!) Everyone, please send good vibes our way!!!!!!
  4. Dee-I think it's so cute that you're all in love like a schoolgirl...Awww!! Brandy & Shelbi-Hey buddies! Good to hear from both of you! Mal-I am also sending extra catch up prayers for your sons friend. How scary!! It sounds like he is going to be lucky though, it could have been much worse than it was. Mini-Give Gracie some kisses and hugs from all of us! Her kennel cough will be gone before you know it. Are her and Keeley getting along well? Lap-I cannot begin to tell you how much I adore the pic of the munchkin smiling...so adorable!! Yup, he's going to have the girls chasing after him for sure! Sorry folks, I don't have much to say tonight. I had a momentary lapse of reason and went in to work extra Monday night in the unit I keep getting floated to. It was actually not a bad night. I ended the morning by getting a 22 year old that was passed out in a bar parking lot and someone ran him over. Yup, you heard me right. He had a nice tire track from his nipple line all the way to his naval. And he only had a broken finger. Can you believe that? He was lucky indeed. We are still waiting to hear if my sister got the police job. I REALLY hope she does now, because she informed me tonight that if she doesn't, she is going to deploy to Iraq for a year. I really just don't think I can handle her and my stepson being deployed at the same time! I personally think she has lost her dang mind....
  5. Drive by post (as I am at work)...Just wanted to say.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Dee-I almost forgot, I am down 1 pound for the week. Well folks, I have to float to our sister ICU tonight again. Remember what a great time I had there a few weeks ago? I am soooooo not looking forward to this!!!
  7. Deb- me and the lab/mastiff crew are SOOOOO happy Tucker gets to come home!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!! (One of my labs always licks my oldest labs ears to clean them also!) Give him lots of lovins and treats when he gets home!! Thanks for all the tat suggestions. So far the concensus seems to be that bigger flowers are needed. I have thought about adding some slightly larger sparrows that have flowers in their mouths "flying" around the main tat, with some blossoms "falling" off those flowers and down my back. What do you guys think of that?
  8. Lap-Thanks for the suggestions on my tat. I will let Wind know! (I love the birds too! They are my favorite part!) How's the munchkin? I like Shelbis idea about adding some manly pirates to all the artwork you made for the nursery! Shelbi-Brutus does have very soulful, knowing eyes. (And also very big nostrils according to my sister!) And yes, you better behave or I will get the restraints out again! Dee-That is so cute that you are like a teenager again! Awww!!!!!
  9. Adork-Your adorable pup looks like she has some German Shepherd in her. She has classic shephard markings! Give her lots, lots, lots of loves for me!! She is lucky to have found a good home!
  10. Ok ladies, I went today to have stuff added to my existing cherry blossom tattoo. It was previously half the size it is now. The branches that are solid black will fade within a few weeks and actually look all soft and faded, like the brush strokes in a true Japanse watercolor. I think it will look much better then. The tattoo artist wants to add more to it. I am undecided-it needs something, but I can't decide what. He wants to add Japanese watercolor mountains to it, but I don't know that I am huge on that idea. Do any of you want to weigh in on this and give me some ideas?
  11. Well, I don't know if this will work, but I tried to attach a picture of Brutus the Mastiff sending Tucker get well wishes! (My mom said the other day that Brutus is the "ugly duckling" amongst all the labs. I told her she was going to give him a complex!)
  12. Congrats on being a grandma Lap!! I have to go shopping for a friends baby shower next week, maybe I will pick up some extra onesies when I am there!! Deb-I am soooo, soooooo sorry to hear about Tucker. I have to say, you are holding up pretty well. I would be an absolute train wreck!! We are sending you love, hugs, paw holding, and big slobbery kisses from the lab/mastiff crew here!!!! (And there is lots of love to send from these guys!)
  13. Well, I am pooped from running around with my sister all day. Tomorrow we are going to the commissary to get cheap(er) groceries! Goodnight all! Sweet dreams and happy Wednesday!! (P.S. Anyone heard from Brandy?)
  14. Well I know I am thanking the heavens above that you survived so you could grace us with your witty self! We all adore you Mini!!
  15. Well gals, my sister had her interview for the police department tonight, and it sounds like it went really well! I don't want to jinx her, but I just feel like she's going to get it. Things have just fallen into place, and it just feels right for some reason. So everyone keep your fingers and toes crossed, and send some good vibes her way! They are supposed to put the list out by the end of the week, and there are 4 positions, so as long as she is in the top 4 she has a new career!! I would be sooooooo happy if she moved home!! I never quite realize how much I miss her until she is home visiting. She is the only other person in the world who has the exact same warped sense of humor as me!! Within 5 minutes of me getting home from work yesterday we were both in hysterics!!
  16. Wow, Mini, that's really scary!! And all from a hot tub!! I had to reach back to the nooks and crannies of my brain to remember what I know about Legionalla...it is a respiratory disease, correct? First named after a bunch of people that contracted it from air conditioners in the hotel they were staying at for an American Legion conference or something? And that folks is my useless trivia tidbit for the night!
  17. Serves em right for not letting you pee!! I hope a few of them got it on their shoes! (And wow, you had Legionella?)
  18. Nurse Munchkin concurs! I was just about to write a post to the same extent but you beat me too it Nurse Dee!!:biggrin2:
  19. Yup, we had a huge storm here Monday morning, and something like 76,000 homes are without electricity. I was one of the lucky ones, I was only without power for about 12 hours, but I was totally starting to sweat it!! How spoiled we are by modern conveniences!! (Granted, I was mostly worried about my dogs getting too hot, but still...I felt like a whiner!) Aside from that, I was out driving around tonight, and it was spooky!!! All up and down the busiest shopping districts in town, nothing but complete darkness. Wierd!!!
  20. Awwww!!!!!!!!!! Love, love, love her!!!! Such an expressive face, and it sounds like her and the Keeley meister will get along ok!!
  21. I don't trust people who simply do not like animals, let alone abuse them. I cannot even fathom how anyone could treat Jake and Brutus they way they did, because they are both such wonderful, loving, smart dogs. Brutus is finally figuring out that he has it pretty good here, that no one is ever going to hit him here, and that he will always have enough food in his large belly. I think he is pretty happy now that he has figured these things out!
  22. It would break my heart to see a vented baby too, that is why I can't work in NICU (I honestly don't think I could even work on peds because of the abuse cases). However, there are some adults I like a whole lot better when they are on the ventilator than when they come off of it! I can't believe Lasix used to be a controlled drug! That is crazy!!!!
  23. Amieru-Sorry about your belly dancing class, I hope you got your money back at least! I am soo jealous you had LASIK. I was thinking about getting it next year, but I have a really freakish phobia of anyone touching/messing with my eyes, so I don't know if I would be able to do it. It would be sooooooo nice to not wear glasses or contacts anymore! Dee-that's a bummer about TOM and your edema...because you know that's exactly where all that came from, it's edema. But the good news about that is that you will pee it out! Then you will be good as new! (Want me to slip you some IV Lasix?) (Grin!!) As for me, I have decided I am a bit "special" this month, because apparently I cannot weigh myself/count/or both. I realized when I weighed myself yesterday that I am down a total of 6 pounds since I got my fill a few weeks ago. I don't know where I messed up that extra few pounds, but it was probably when my metoprolol made me gain that weight and then when I lost it again. So, that is where I stand. Minus six pounds. (I think, as long as I counted right, LOL!) Well ladies, I am totally stoked because my baby sister is flying home from NC tonight because she has her interview with the police department. Keep her in your thoughts and cross your fingers for her!! Our patients in the ICU heard us talking about her interview, and they are all excited for her! Isn't that hilarious? I got to tell her "All the patients in the ICU are rooting for you!" That's something no other applicant will be able to claim!
  24. Shelbi-I am really good at the whole JCHOA restraint checking thing since I am an ICU nurse! (You know us ICU nurses think a good patient is a restrained patient, preferably on the ventilator so they can't talk back to us! Ha ha! A little warped ICU nurse humor for you there...bear with me, I just got off work and I am a little punchy!) On a more serious note, I am glad that new med seems to be working for you without any really horrible side effects. Antidepressant side effects can really pack a wollop at times. Have a good Sunday!
  25. Mini-sounds like this one may be the doggie for you! She sounds adorable! I soooo hope her and Keeley get along!! I am telling you, both my abused dogs are so grateful they have good homes now, I think they would do anything for me. You won't regret adopting her if she is the dog for you. (Although you may want to hunt down her previous owners and kick them around a little to show them how it feels! I know I have been tempted every time Brutus hunkers down because he thinks someone is going to hit him, or even if he just hears a loud noise! HOW can people treat animals like that?????)
