Hello Carol, I am fairly new too. I have only posted a couple of times. I started the process in April by speaking to my family Dr. He agreed the lap band would be a good tool for me. I went to a seminar in April. Decided to go forward in May of this year. I couldn't get an appointment until August!! Finally, got in to start the lap band process. Yeah!! I just completed my required nutrition classes, support group meetings, psych eval, and lost over 5% of my weight. My insurance has covered all so far. They do cover the lap band, but am waiting on the approval for my specific surgery now. It has been almost 2 weeks. Don't know how long it will take. I am ready, and excited!! I have told all of my family, they are also very supportive. I have been blessed to have a really great set of friends, family and close co-workers. I have had weight issues my entire life, and finally I have found something that I can use to help me gain control for the first time in my life. I am waiting on my insurance approval, have already met all the requirements my doctor asked of me. I am soooo excited. I have found most people have already heard of the lap band, and believe it is a good thing. Good luck to all you new upcoming bandsters!!!!

Thanks for the list. I hope to be using it soon. Waiting on my insurance approval letter. They said the nutritionist will start me on the liquid diet as soon as the letter arrives. I hope to get the surgery scheduled by end of October, first of November!
