How about your jewelry (rings) after surgery?
I remember when my high school bf gave me his class ring to wear I used to put some stuff from the Orthodontist along the inside that would just mold right to the ring. I think it was for braces, I'm not sure. Did anyone else do that? Of course I wouldn't do that now with this ring!!!

Juat had a letter about going to see a phycotherapist!
The test I took was pretty long and there were many questions. Some of them were asking the same questions over and over but in a different way. They ask you not to sit there and think about the question but to pick the first thing that pops in your mind. I had a nice discussion with the dr and my test came out exactly what I was telling him. I was not sure about the surgery.

That's what the jeweler gave me as one of my options, but she said just a plain white gold or silver band.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea and CPAP machine
Thank you. You know, I am not going to have another sleep study. I have already had 2 and with three hospital admissions equaling 10 days and so many tests, I can't afford to add any more..... I wish things would look up to.. =/

Obstructive Sleep Apnea and CPAP machine
I was dx with this early this year and I have probably had it for a few years now. I started using the CPAP in February-ish and not long after my surgery I feel I no longer need it. I can sleep without the mask and I do not snore and have no issues and I have a very sound sleep and do not feel tired when I wake in the morning. I am having a very rough way to go post surgery but this has been a positive aspect of the RNY.

How has your husband/wife/SO fared during your WLS journey?
During my 2 week pre surgery diet, my fiance drank shakes with me and did indeed lose weight. Today I am 5 weeks post op and have fared very badly. He has been by my side and cared for me every step of the way. I could not have asked for a better man to be my future husband.

I am just ill.
No dr available until Friday and my dr not available until next Tuesday. I would think they would try and fit me in...

Hiatal Hernia - what does that mean for my WLS?
I had a very large hiatal hernia and I had it repaired along with bypass. I am not doing well at 5 weeks post op but I am not the rule. I think they find it quite a bit and it will not prevent you from having the surgery, they will just do both at the same time.

I am just ill.
You know I really haven't. I have actually been under three drs from the groups care through this. I think my dr is great, but I think I may be a tough case. I do have the issue of an auto immune disease with my Rheumatoid Arthritis, and I have to wonder if that is playing a part. The hernia was absolutely huge. If you put your hands together to make a circle, that is about how big it was. The hiatus should only allow for the esophagus to fit through, but my whole stomach fit through. They all seem to think I have a lot of inflammation and that they really had to pull everything very tight with the hernia. I am calling in the morning to get an appointment. Most days I drink some sugar free gatorade and have a cheese stick. I can't handle much else. I am gonna be that malnourished fat person..... crazy.

Thank you so much. I'm glad you are doing better. I am not allowed to have decaf coffee. I wish I could! I am having a really hard time eating or drinking anything. I know this is not gonna end up being a good thing. I imagine I am starting to become a bit dehydrated, my urine is very dark. I expect to be back in the hospital pretty soon. =(

I am just ill.
Not always. I actually found my hernia a few years ago. I went to the ER for chest pain and they did a chest ct and chest xray. I always get my medical records. They treated me for the chest pain and sent me along, never mentioning the hernia. I guess most of the time there are really no symptoms. Mine was very large and I had a lot of symptoms. Most all of my stomach was up in the chest cavity and it began to be twisted. If I had not had to have different tests like I had, it would not have been found. The hernia actually was the reason for my chest pain over the years, it was finally discovered.

I am just ill.
I am not able to drink the protein shakes, and my surgeon knows.

I am just ill.
My dr knows. I have seen him for the last two Thursdays. I've been in the hospital twice since my surgeries. He thinks it is just taking me a lot longer to have things stop being inflamed, etc since both the RNY and Hernia surgery. I also have not had any medication for my Rheumatoid Arthritis in two months and I have to wonder if it may be playing a part in all of this.

I am just ill.
I have had such extreme nausea and it is only getting worse. I can't really eat, and can barely drink and it is bad. My concern is that I am going to end up back in the hospital again. I am taking two different nausea meds, Phenergan and Zofran. The only time I am not nauseous is, well, in my sleep. The very second I wake up it hits me. Due to not having any nutrition, I am getting pretty weak, and it is rough. Tomorrow will be five weeks post op and I just want to feel better or find a time machine to go back to the day before surgery. I am also not able to choke down my Vitamins.

How are all you MAY RNYers doing?
Oh jeez! Well, thank you. I am doing what I can to have it not happen again. It was miserable for sure!

How are all you MAY RNYers doing?
Very nauseous and can't eat or drink. I've been in the hospital twice with medication getting stuck and me being sick all day and then becoming Pancreatitis. It's been a rough ride. I just noticed this said May...my bad!

How are all you MAY RNYers doing?
I had surgery on 7-16 and I have lost 27 lbs. Since my weight loss journey began, I've lost 50 lbs. Now I just want to start feeling better!

Relationships: I am not telling my extended family members about my surgery....
Oh I see... Well good luck with your surgery!

Relationships: I am not telling my extended family members about my surgery....
Your kids are going to have to know in the end. Are you going to hide being in the hospital and recovering? The change in your eating patterns and all of that?

Taste horrible
I can't take the Protein drinks either, and I have not been able to take my Vitamins either. It has been all I can do to make sure I take my medication in the morning and at night.

Nausea
I am still peeing, but very little. My Zofran calls for every 8 hours. I for sure do not want to be in the hospital a third time. I was on protonix and two other meds of those type before surgery and they had me stop those at 1 month out. Still on liquids. He said I could try some pureed but really, nothing feels right and everything makes me feel ill. Not fun at all. I know you have had it rough too. =(

Nausea
I tried peppermint yesterday and then chamomile and it seemed like it made things just as bad. I am not sure my stomach is ever going to get used to this change. Just like everyday, I woke up with it..... =(

Nausea
Yes. I told him last Thursday and then again this past Thursday. I am not getting very much Protein and he just wants to make sure I get some fluids in. He wanted me to have sf Gatorade. I have been tolerating that and maybe a couple of ounces of food a day. He knows... I make sure to pinch my skin to see if I am dehydrated and so far I'm not. He doesn't really care that I am not eating, he says that will come. My big thing is I am not really bringing any calories in.
