  4. The hot drink in the morning is normal. If you try jamba juice or starbucks it usually does down really easy for me...But I don't attempt solid food in the morning in general
  5. Hi I'm Jaclyn and I'm 18 years old. November 2005 my mom went to Utah to get banded. After a year and 50 lbs of weightloss I was given permission to be banded. I was 16 when I got banded Sep 21, 2006 at 236.4 lbs by Dr. McKeen with South Bay Bariatrics in Los Gatos, CA. By my 17th birthday in May I was 139 lbs with a total weight loss of 97 lbs. In September 2007 I was rebanded when my band slipped and I hadn't eaten or drank anything for 7 days. By that time I was anorexic and belemic and would have starved to death if I didn't go in. Since then I've controlled my band and am at a solid 160 lbs and no where near slipping. I've experienced the worst case scenario and and glad b/c it made me aware of the consequences. I'm going on 3 years and I'm happy and healthy =] Feel free to ask me anything, I've been through it all and am happy to answer any questions
  6. well you're too tight. I had the surgery and the same thing happened to me. The band had slipped from me puking so much. But the stuff that comes up in the night is'nt anything but spit that your band wouldnt let through. it urns black. Anyways all they did was loosen my mom from 3.8 to 3.4 and she gained no weight and she stopped getting up in the night. But with me I was in the hospital from dehydration, I had'nt eaten or drank anything without puking it up for 6 days. I went into the hospital knowing I'd have to have surgery and they replaced my band. Now, a month and a half later, I feel good again and I'm about to get my "first fill" (I've had about 15 fills/unfills with my old band) soon and I gained 20 lbs from going from eating nothing to eating again so I'm excited to get filled. But I think your band slipped, or you're too tight, thats all I can think of. Hope it helps =]
  7. first the doctor gives you a shot to numb you where your port is. then they find the port and get a hold of it, it feels like pressure because they are holding your port still so he can stick the tool (like a needle) in that allows them to put in liquid and take out liquid. they put the tool in you and then they put in the fill and they sit you up and you take a sip or two of water to make sure it goes down then you're done. they take the tool out and put a bandaid over where they put the tool in and you're done. it take about 5 minutes, literally. the numbing stuff hurts a little but it only stings for a second then goes away. your port will be a little sore but it goes away in a day or so. liquids 24 hours, soft foods 24 after that then you can eat =]
  8. The only tip I can give you is do not binge and think you can throw it up later. I did that and I've been loosened completly 3 times and now I am at the point where my mom wants to take the band out because I can barley drink any water and I'm on the verge of collapsing every week and I miss school. so DO NOT BINGE!!!! Eat slowly what you want (besides bread, pasta and rice) and don't throw up and try to go back to eating more of what you just threw up. DO NOT BINGE, its not worth it. It damages thinks and I had to learn the hard way. Thats my tip
  9. I played softball 10 days after my surgery. It made me a little sore but over all I was okay =]
  10. I lost 29 pounds my first two weeks then gain back 12 as soon as I started to eat anything. Don't worry after you get tightened the weight pretty much melts off, or it at least does for me
