how long does swelling last
I am on day # 3 with the band. I am also swollen , not passing gas, no b.m.'s yet either. I think I would feel better if I wasn't so swollen. The reason I am replying to this is I emailed my doctors office and ask what to do and will share the answer with the room.

Texarkana Bandsters
Hi, I had my band yesterday. So far I have had to force liquids down since there has been no hungar. I have walked 3 times today, I am still very sore but they say walking and gas-x will help that. I was thrilled when they weighed me at the hospital, total loss is `13 pounds. If any of you guys has Blue Cross insurance ,they will mark off lots of the bills , they are guessing me to owe about 3,000.00 It took me 1 & 1/2 months to get approved, anyway its worth the wait to let the insurance do its thing. I had my surgery at Wadley with Dr. H and Dr. K worked on me, they even went in and repaired my hernia. The whole group at Precision Surgery is great.

TENaciousTENS "roll call" as promised!
I got banded yesterday the 10th . Surgery wasn't bad, I only woke up in recovery with the nurse tell me to take deeper breaths. When I got back to my room, the walking started. After I made 2 laps and went to pee they let me go home. I didn't have to have my pain meds until right before bedtime so I think I may have been pushing. Today I am very sore, I got 5 cuts, they repaired a hernia. I go back to let them look at me in 2 weeks. Oh, and last but not least, I ended up with a total of 13 pounds lost.I would like to lose another 100 but I thnk the doctor has a different, he has on my chart 170 pounds. Good luck to all of you that hasn't been banded , its not that bad.

Surgery 10/10/07
Good morning sadie, I also, have a date for surgery first thing tomorrow. I am ready for it to be over. The main thing I am a little worried about is clots, I have been put to sleep so thats not a problem. I am also wondering about the liver shrinking they all talk about. I haven't lost alot of weight, 9 pounds yesterday, and I can't understand how they know my liver has shrunk. Good luck in the morning to both of us and all the others that is set for tomorrow.

Love food too much!
My band date is the 10th, only a few days away. Very nervous. I go the 5th to sign concent. When you start on the diet, if you use slim fast, it makes it taste better to freeze it till it gets slushy. I am 52 and very worried about not being able to lose weight. I have tried several times in the past year only to shed a couple here and there. I went to my mothers Sunday and took my can of food with me, mom was the usual mom, can't understand why I won't eat. I want to shed 110 pounds.

Ready...Lets talk pre-op diet
Wow, Cottage cheese, veggies, apples. I get 4 slimfast optima a day, all the fat free jell-o I want and diet drinks and water. I have discovered if you put the slimfast in the freezer for at least half an hour and let it get slushy its better. I have 9 more days to go.

Banded in two days - YIKES
I get mine in 9 days. Its a long time but then again its not.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.I go to sign the permission form Friday and have the test at the hospital. I got lucky on my insurance and they approved it the first time. Sugar free Jell-o and sugar free gum are a life saver. I have jell-o before bed and again after breakfast.

Texarkana Bandsters
Hi everyone, I have a date of 10-10-07 at Texarkana. I have started on slimfast, getting used to its taste.I was afraid I would be starving but so far I'm not.I do have problems of waking up at night hungry. I keep jell-o and when the feeling hits I just grab a couple of bites. My starting weight is 234. My goal is 130. What happens if you don't lose as much weight as they want you to before surgery?

Arkansas Bansters!!!
My name is Sherry, I am 52 and have a date of 10-10-2007. I live in Nevada County , Arkansas. I will be having the band done using Dr. Hekier from Texarkana Texas. I am exited, nervous, and dreading it all rolled into one.I am not looking forward to the two week pre-surgery diet.I don't like Slim Fast. How did everyone get past the hungar? :hungry: What did you do when you have to cook for the family and are used to tasting to see if its seasoned enough and done and all the other things a mom does while cooking? I plan on either taking a walk while they eat and then throwing away left overs when they are done. I have Blue Cross and have heard about how hard it is to get pre-approved so I was surprised to hear it had been approved on the first try. I was a little upset with my medical doctor, he didn't write a letter for me, he said my medical records would speak for themself. I did have a letter from the Plumalogist that said he felt like the benefits out-weighed the risk. I have COPD. Thanks for listening. 17 more days to banding...
