  1. Surgery date: 4/28/2014. I am on a liquid diet with Protein shakes until May 22 when I go for my follow up and diet advancement. I know I'm only 1 week out, but it is getting better every day. Sip, sip, sip - the smallest sips I've ever taken in my life! Some of the things I'm finding helpful: Standing up to drink (gravity is my freind). Slow, deep breathing or using my incentive spirometer when I have discomfort. Alternating sweet and salty and/or hot and cold. I came home from the hospital with small, 1oz plastic cups - I have frozen my Protein Shakes with a toothpick in them and the protein popsicles go down sooooo easy! I am certain to take my prescribed Vitamins and acid reducer (PPI) every day. It is still a long way to May 22 and diet advancement but I'm seeing results already.
