  1. I have been accepted into the bariatric program and now I'm am in the process of taking my nutrition class, and lifestyle class, and psych evaluation. What do they ask at psych evaluations? How long have you been overweight? Gosh, do you yo-yo with weight. I mean what makes you tick? Can anyone tell me is if just a therapist asking your overweight history? How important is it. Especially if you're not diagnosed with mental illness? Any thoughts?
  2. Thank you all for your comments to my questions. I see that it varies depending on where you have your WLS at. Goodness. I think I can handle these questions. Not like I haven't been asked these questions before. Especially when you're obese. Thanks again everyone. This is great.
  3. Thanks so much for posting replies. I am new to bariatric pal, and just got accepted into the weight loss program in San Francisco. I'm nervous and excited and scared. But really want to have surgery and get rid of this excess weight. Thanks for giving me some insight into the psych evaluation.
  4. I just got the call from Terry at the SSF Kaiser Bariatric Dept letting me know I was accepted and my Surgery Overview is next Tuesday. I am so excited. Any words of wisdom?
  5. Hi Bluesea71, I realized after I did the post you were not Monique. So sorry. I have a friend who had the gastric sleeve done in New York and said the same thing, that after surgery it was pain city, no speed bumps allowed on the drive home! She said that after the first two days it gets much better. I assume if you do exactly what they tell you everything should go pretty well as far as the weight is concerned. Did you decide with the surgeon on gastric sleeve or is it the surgeon who actually decides what is best? How long did you stay in the hospital? Do they check for leaks the day after surgery? That's probably one of my largest fears is the leakage. Thanks again for being so prompt at posting.
  6. Hi Monique, thanks so much for the quick reply. I to have a BMI of about 36-37, but I have sleep apnea, high blood pressure, triglycerides are high, and PCOS. So I'm hoping they call me soon. I feel like this would be the right tool to help me let go of my extra weight I've been yo-yoing with since my late teens early twenties. I know if I don't do something I won't live as long as I should, so I'm really motivated to have surgery. Do they primarily do gastric sleeve and gastric bypass at South San Francisco Kaiser? How have you done since surgery?
  7. Hi Monique; I was reading your posts and was wondering if you can tell me how busy the South San Francisco bariatric Surgery Department is and how long do you think it would take to hear back from them if I'm accepted into their program for Surgery? I am a Kaiser member and was referred last week by my PCP. I am very anxious of course. Thanks so much.
