  1. Hey I know exactly how you feel.. I made a list of my favorite foods and went on an eating binge before surgery.. i regret it now because in reality you can still eat your favorites its just a much much smaller portion and your full and satisfied. The preop diet I was on was tough but manageable. You can do it and stop beating yourself up and realize the lapband is not a diet! You are not going to feel deprived or feel like you are missing out.. I am so happy with my band and do not feel deprived or like i am missing out on something.. good luck!
  2. I take a chewable viactiv chocolate multivitamin and a chewable viactiv calcium caramel every day. They are yummy and at the same time gives me my sweet kick. Good luck!

  13. Hi all.. I have been married to my sexy hubby for 17 years. We have 2 beautiful girls ages 15 & 16. I work for an industrial sales supply house in Norwich, Ct.. I am so excited about this.. I had my surgery on June 20, 2008 and feel already like a new person.. This is the healthiest I have ever been! I am a non smoker after smoking for 16 years, I no longer drink caffeine, soda and I am off of sugar completely.. It's amazing! Thank the lord for lap band!

  16. I have told everyone.. my family, friends, customers.. and I haven't had one negative feedback.. I even have showed alot of them my scars ( I was banded on June 20) I am excited and proud of the choice I made. I did this to make me a healthier person. If people are not supportive that's their insecurities not mine. But as of yet it's been great. Honestly it never occurred to me that people wouldn't be supportive. I guess I always believe people are generally good.
  17. Hello all you June bandsters! I was banded on June 20! I checked in at 7:00 a.m., was brought right back. They weighed me and I was so excited I had lost 22 pounds since i had started preop diet. Then came the Iv had to be stuck twice..fun. then a shot in the belly.. I was so excited not nervous at all until they came for me and had to hug my hubby goodbye.. i got choked up but was fine..went to the back and it was nice and cold. They gave me some meds in my iv to relax me and that's all i remember. I woke up in alot of pain and kept asking to walk since i had read on here that the gas was what caused the pain. They gave me a little bit of meds and I was up walking.. went to the bathroom and checked out my tummy. I was surprised how big one of the scars was like the size of my ring finger. The others are tiny.. no stiches.. looked like glue.. very cool. I was given the option to stay overnight and we had booked a hotel room close to the hospital and all I wanted was to go lie down with my hubby.. so by 1:00 p.m. same day we were on our way to the hotel.. I had some trouble with feeling like i needed to vomit but had burping.. it was pretty violent and scary but over quickly.. Honestly the gas pain was the worst. Only pain in my belly no shoulder pain. I took maalox and gas x strips.. they definetly helped. I still as of today have a little gas pain but I am feeling better and walking as much as possible. I definetly won't be at work till monday. I just couldn't do it.. Yesterday I tried a little yogurt and some cream of butternut squash strained. It went down ok and today i had two teaspoons of yogurt and half a strawberry atkins shake.. so far so good. I can't stand the taste of the isopure.. it makes me gag which really hurts.. so I am trying to get protein elsewhere. I am so glad i did it and am down a total of 29 pounds since post op diet started. Good luck to all who are getting it done! I am very happy I did it. I am a self payer but found it worth every penny I have spent. I saw a article today that said women who have bypass or banding done cut their cancer rate for ovarian and breast cancer by 80% with the surgery and losing the weight.. $17,800 just to cut my cancer rate by 80% is worth it but to also add years to my life, be healthy.. save the 10 dollars a day i was spending on lunch the going out for dinner etc.. This surgery was the best way I have ever spent my money! xoxo
  18. Hi I had my surgery on June 20th 2008 at 8:30 a.m. at St. Vincents in Bridgeport, CT. I woke up from surgery in alot of pain but they immediately gave me some meds.. I kept saying I want to walk because I knew the gas pain was what was killing me.. So within an hour I was walking. I went to the bathroom and looked at my tummy. I was very surprised that one of the scars was as long as my ring finger. The others were just little. No staples.. looked like glue.. pretty cool. I hate staying in the hospital so at 1:00 p.m. same day we checked out of hospital and checked into a hotel "homewood suites" much more comfortable. I have to say the gas pain was horrendous. It actually is still kinda painful. So keep walking as much as possible.. drink as much as you can and take gas meds. Gasx strips seem to work the best for me. Maalox also helped. I don't think I can go back to work this week definetly monday. I was definetly thrown for how sore and gassy i would be. On third day had diarrhea which was a surprise.. so far since I started the optifast pre op diet on June 6 I have lost 29 pounds. I am happy I did it! Good luck to all and if anyone is from southeastern CT email me! 1morrisfamily@comast.net. I am looking for a local buddy! xoxo
  19. Hi I have lost 29 pounds, 22 on preop diet and 7 since lapband on june 20.. I feel so awesome!
  20. Hi, I just had my lapband done on june 20 and I paid 17,800 self pay. First off it for me was worth it. My hubby would leave me 10-20 dollars every day during the week for lunch while I was at work..so between 50-100 dollars a week just on lunch food then we were going out to eat at least 3 times a week. when we sat down and calculated how much i was spending on food it was actually cheaper for me to pay for the lapband. I am saving money! + i get to write off some of the 17,800 on my taxes.. It definetly was and is worth it. My insurance would pay for the gastric bypass but not the lapband and my hubby said no way to the bypass would rather pay for the safer procedure. I have two teenage daughters who will be going to college soon.. it's tough but worth it.. good luck
  21. Hi Heather Vasquez.. I am getting banded at St. Vincents in Bridgeport tomorrow the 20th!!! Woo hoo.. I have lost 22 pounds since I started pre op diet.. which was optifast for 2 weeks.. now I am on the 2 day clear liquid diet. Do you have a date scheduled for surgery?? You can email me at 1morrisfamily@comcast.net if you have any other questions.. I will let you know how the banding goes tomorrow..
  22. hi annabelle.. I am having my lapband this friday the 20 woo hoo.. ok so the preopdiet advice.. if on optifast.. take the drink put in blender with a sweet and low and ice ..you can add like vanilla extract and nutmeg to the vanilla, the chocolate is good just with the sweet and low and i really never found a good shake for the strawberry.. refrigerate the bars much better cold. I am on the two day clear fluid diet for the two days before surgery and im starving.. but doing ok.. good luck!
  23. Hi everyone! I started the optifast preop diet on June 6 and have lost 12 lbs as of today. The main thing I learned is get that crap in a blender with a sweet and low and some ice.. the vanilla is gross but add vanilla extract and some nutmeg with ice and yummy.. I haven't come up with a great strawberry one yet any ideas?? i tried orange extract but it was yucky.. the chocolate with a sweet and low and ice blended is my favorite so far.. good luck to all... I am getting banded on June 20th wooo hoo:tt1:
