1. I'm in Columbus, and just wondering if there are any sleevers, pre-op or post-op, doesn't matter, just looking for some hometown folks to link up with for friends! I'm scheduled for my sleeve next week (May 8th). Sound off guys, I need your support!
2. Send up prayers, and wish me luck! Nerves are through the roof!! Uggghhh! Best wishes to my May 8th sleeve buddies, and to all May sleevers!
3. Hello Everyone! I've finally made it to the other side! I had my sleeve done this past Thursday, May 8th. I was a nervous wreck and worked myself up for not much. My biggest problem was coming out of the anesthesia (my norm), other than that I was feeling pretty good after surgery, of course meds helped. I had the gas pains really bad, and gas-x strips did little to help me, I just got up and walked around for brief periods to get it moving. My best friend has been my heating pad, nice and warm. Been sipping green tea, water, water mixed w/protein shot, chicken broth that I prepared ahead of time, apple juice, white grapefruit juice; all 100% just no sugar added, and mixed 2oz juice and 2oz water. Also been chewing on ice chips from the icemaker at home, just crush it up, having a hard time figuring out when I'm full though, but for now, just sipping, walking, and feeling pretty darn good! Yay!

Any May 2014 sleevers?

Hi, sooo yesterday was your day. Welcome to the loser's bench. How did it go & how are you doing today? My surgery was a success! I came out of anesthesia (finally), and started taking ice chips, and started walking around. I did have a hard time sleeping the night of my surgery, due to meds, gas pains (the worst), and I think just the activity of the day. I got home yesterday (Friday), and today I feel pretty good, just not sure how much is too much to drink, been on sf popsicles, green tea, chicken broth, white grape juice mixed with half water, and my trusty heating pad. The gas-x strips don't help much, so I'm gonna ask my doc about Phazyme. Other than that, I'm moving slow but steady, no real complaints, I was told to focus more on staying hydrated than the Protein, that comes next week with my full liquid diet!

Any May 2014 sleevers?

Thank you! Surgery was a breeze, only problem was coming out of anesthesia (norm for me), my biggest complaint: GAS PAINS! Ugghhh!
6. I am scheduled for surgery next Thursday, May 8th (NERVOUS WRECK), and am now in the pre-op diet phase; I have two questions: 1. Did anyone just start to not feel hungry after being on the pre-op diet for a few days, like seven or so? 2. Has anyone gone into surgery under 200lbs? I'm not there yet, but fast-approaching; I started out at 233lbs and a BMI of over 40 with comorbities (HBP, Migraines, sleep Apnea, Water retention, gerd, etc.), I'm now down to 208.7, uhhh is this normal? Thanks everyone for your responses! I've been on this site for a short while now, and, have mostly been reading different threads and posts, and, with my surgery date fast-approaching, I realize now, that we all need each other for this support! Feel free to friend me!
7. Hey guys, waiting to go into surgery! Miracles and blessings!
8. My surgery is tomorrow, and I just can stay still, it's all I can do to type this post! I've got a lot of nervous energy, just want to get on the other side of this one! Keep me in your prayers everyone! Tomorrow is my BIG day!
9. You guys are so amazing! Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers, well-wishes, and support! Will update you when I'm able! Thanks!!!
10. My surgery is tomorrow too! Got all this nervous energy! Stomach is in knots, and I just keep moving, I just want to get this over with! Praying for all you guys, we got this!
11. I love your post! My surgery is day after tomorrow (Thursday), I'm a nervous wreck (the unknown), excited (new life), and going back and forth with myself, and whether I am making the right decision for me. I started out 6 months ago at 233 pounds, which was my highest weight. I am now a couple days away from my surgery and I weigh 206 pounds, I am 5' 1", and carry it very well, so at times people say, " you are not big enough for surgery", or "you can do this on your own, you're taking the easy way out". I've tried, and I can lose weight but I always gain it back always. Let me get to my point, I can go on forever! You said you have gone from a size 20 to a size 6, my highest size was a 22 women and 2x to 3x, I think that's pretty large for someone my height, but in saying all of that, I just want to thank you for your post it makes me feel better, and not feel guilty or selfish for taking advantage of this surgery. I can't even imagine wearing a size 6!

Any May 2014 sleevers?

I'm scheduled for May 8th. Nerves are all over the place! Been on pre op diet since April 25th, and have lost 7lbs, trying to make it to Thursday, just get lightheaded at times, drinking Vitamin Water zero for electrolytes. "I really can't believe I'm doing this", which from what I've read, goes through most everyone's mind. I pray for all of us who take this bold step! Sending positive thoughts your way!
15. Thanks! Happy to know I'm not the only person!
16. Oh my goodness! Thank you so much! I almost started thinking I'm crazy or my scale is broken, but it is literally coming off seems like 1lb everyday. You've really eased my mind, I almost started feeling like I'm being selfish for having the surgery, some people tell me, "you're not "BIG ENOUGH" to have WLS", and I hate that, but they have no idea of the OTHER things I have going on, so I just say, "I carry it well",and keep moving.
17. Congratulations!! I was approved about 12 days after my letter was sent, now I'm a week out, and ready to get her done! Good luck to you!
18. So am I! Dr. Trace Curry is my surgeon too! Were we in the same nutrition class, on April 24th? I am so trying not to cheat, some of these meals are just gross, and cheating is very tempting, I'm trying hard. I agree that last week was the worst, but now I sometimes don't even want to eat (go figure). My stomach feels like it's eating itself! LOL! Maybe I'll see you on the 8th, I'm scheduled for 12:15 since I'm in Columbus. What about you?

African American Sleevers

I am loving this! I didn't think there were many of us here, OR who have been sleeved. I am scheduled for my surgery next week (May 8th), and I too am worried about hair loss, since my hair is extremely fragile to begin with; I'm getting it braided right before surgery, to be safe, but I also wear wigs everyday of my life, they're more like accessories now, so if it thins out, oh well, I've been there, done that! Everyone, would you please friend me, although I have my hubby, my daughter, and a couple of coworkers for support, NOTHING beats having people to talk to, who have been there! I'll be joining you on the losers bench soon! Wish me luck, and send up prayers!
