  1. Thanks for the kind welcome! I am 6 days post-op and had my first follow-up appt with my surgeon today. I have lost 6 lbs thus far but my surgeon warned me not to get over anxious that this is a marathon and not a sprint. I feel okay..not NORMAL yet. I am so glad I found this forum today because after reading many of the postings I found that many of the things I am experiencing have been experienced by many others. I am still very swollen in the abdomen area and I do some kind of hiccup/gasp for air every time I eat or drink something. I am hoping that this goes away soon. Anyway...I am so glad to have found this support group and look forwarding to charting this journey together.
  2. Hello All, I too am in the Jacksonville area and I had my surgery last Friday (Sept 7th). My surgery was done at Memorial Hospital by Dr. Webb. For the most part the surgery went okay (had a reaction to the morphine). I had my post-op appt today with Dr.Webb and have lost 6 lbs so far. I am not feeling 100% yet but I guess that is to be expected. Still swollen in the abdomen area and experiencing some kind of hiccups, gasps of air after I drink or eat. But again, I am assuming that will pass as well. My next milestone - the 1st fill in 5 weeks!
  3. Hello All, I am new to the website as of TODAY! Was glad to see a thread dedicated to those with lower BMI's I was just recently banded, I had my surgery on last Friday (Sept 7th). My pre-op BMI was 35, I weighed 186lbs. After the pre-op diet and at my first post-op appointment today my weight is now 180lbs. My surgeon told me that I wouldn't get my first fill for another 5 weeks. He said he wants my weight loss to be slow and steady. My goal is to be between 120 -125lbs. As for how I'm feeling...I am still very swollen. I had a horrible experience at the hospital and was experiencing severe back pains, I was given morphine and then had a horrible reaction to that. I just started feeling better yesterday but I have some quirky side effects that have now come up. When I eat or drink something I get this hiccup, quasi-burp sort of gasp for air sensation...its weird but I'm hoping it will go away soon. When I eat it feels like food is stuck in my chest. After looking through other forums I realized that I may be eating too fast or not chewing my food small enough. Anyone, I am so glad that I found this website! I am really looking forward to continuing on this journey with each of you!:clap2:
  4. Hello Teresa, I was banded on last Friday as well (Sept 7th). I just joined the chat room today after doing a search for lap band support groups. I am soooo glad I found the site. I had my first post-op appointment today with my surgeon. I have lost 6 lbs between pre-op and post-op diet. Overall, I feel okay but not normal. I am still bloated/swollen in the stomach area which is such a bummer. Everytime I eat I experience some kind of hiccup or quick gasp for air. Its weird. I do feel like the food I eat is sitting in my chest which is weird but I'm hoping that will go away soon. Anyway, I look forward to hearing more about your progress as these days and months go by. Good luck too you! Oh by the way...I too was a Caligirl (Northern California though) but now reside in the Sunshine State.
