Protein while traveling & Disney Dining
I'm going to Disney World in October. I'll be 6 month post-op. I've talked to my two friends that I'm going with, and we're all going to share meals or I'm just going to get a Kid's Meal! I have the card just in case, but we're not hitting up any sort of buffets. $40 for a 1/2 cup of food? Can't justify it. Plus, my friends and I are saving money by sharing. I'm incredibly excited to read this post because it seems as though everything I've searched about eating in Disney after being sleeved has been so negative. I've read some of the menus and can find something to eat almost anywhere. I'm not too worried about going over my carb count. Disney is such a rare thing and having a few extra carbs isn't going to kill me! That, and I really don't wanna get all worried about it. With all the walking that we do (my friends and I are there from opening to close and then go swimming...we take our Disney to the extreme) and the fact that I"m bringing resistance bands to do some strength training, I think that having food that I normally wouldn't eat because I'm so worried about carbs, will be okay.

DC- DMV
Hello! I think I posted in here a long time ago. Buuut... I'm Baillie and I'm from Northern Virginia. Fairfax to be exact....Clifton to be even more exact. I'm not sure if I could make it up to Maryland for get togethers, but are there any plans for some in Virginia or even DC?

Has anyone tried/is trying the Couch to 5k? (If not, what exercises do you do?)
Okay, so before I had surgery I did c25k. I didn't do it the regular way, though. None of that robotic voice. I did Zombies, Run 5k. It's an app on your phone that helps you train for 5ks. It's kind of an extension of the original app Zombies, Run which is just as awesome. Why is it different? It tells a story. You are literally a character in a story. Not only are you running, but you'll do a few seconds of skipping, some squats, heel lifts, all to get yourself conditioned as well. When I did it, my stamina was amazing. I found myself running for ten minutes or more at a steady pace. You can also put your own music to it which makes it even better. I totally recommend it. Even though I'm three weeks post-op, I did week one over because it is so light (walk for 10 minutes, slow jog for 15 seconds, walk 1 minute...repeat).

I officially HATE protein shakes!
I cannot stand protein shakes! I've tried everything and end up gagging in disgust! It also makes my mouth dry and my tongue feels coated and furry. It only happens when I have the protein shakes. At least that means I'm getting water in!

post op from April 29th
I got my sleeve on the 29th and having a time of it. It's very difficult to get my protein in because it's hard to keep down. Water's pretty simply as well as popsicles, but when it comes to broth, I want to throw up at the smell and taste of it. At night I've been getting fevers. They aren't high enough to call a doctor, but it worrying me. Because it's the weekend, I didn't want to wait in the waiting room for hours only to be sent back and have to wait in an ER room for another couple hours. It goes down after a while, but yeah. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow (let's hope they graduate me from clear liquids to full liquids a week early)! But today I got to take out my pain pump! That was a plus! I haven't used my pain killers for almost 24 hours because I'm not in much pain. Whatever pain I'm in is tolerable. Like light cramping. I still can't sleep on my side so I have to sleep propped up on my back just slightly. It's not too bad.

April 29 th 2014 surgery
I feel as though today has dragged on. I've been so excited about it and it seems to go on and on. Tomorrow is going to drag on as well just because I have to be there two hours before surgery! But oh my goodness, I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight!! I'm too excited to sleep!

April 29 th 2014 surgery
I'm actually getting real nervous about it! Yesterday I was driving to work and I had second thoughts. Luckily I had a few people who reassured me that it was the best decision that they've made so I feel so much better and confident about this. Did anyone have problems finding the right Vitamins? I was looking up the exact dosage I needed and the guy at GNC was absolutely no help.
