  2. I just sent you a private msg. Hope you don't mind.
  3. I don't have a date yet. I'm going to meet with the dietician on Monday. It's my first step. It is all going to be through St. Joe's here in Hamilton. I requested the referral from my Dr almost three years ago... It took her 2 years until I finally realized she had no intention of sending me... Though she said she was in favor of it. Anyways, that's done... Positive thoughts now!! I went to a private school in Hamilton. Had a bit of a sheltered upbringing. :-)
  4. Congrats!! Where are you getting it done? Did you have to do a lot of tests? Ei. Scope, mental, ECG?

  6. Hey, no problem. We're all figuring this out :-) I can't wait until it's my turn... I feel like I have been waiting forever for my life to start... But then I remind myself not to get my hopes up to high or get too excited because I am just starting this process.

  13. Sounds like you are further in process than I am... So I don't think I would be a great mentor. But do I qualify for friend? :-)

  16. Trazedone type blood thinners are notoriously painful. The bruises will take a long time to heal as well, I wouldn't be too concerned about them. I know the feeling... It's a fire brand poker straight in your belly! Pinch the skin, do a quick jab, and that is all you can do. Unfortunately there is no way to avoid the burning feeling or the bruises. :-(
  17. You are in Ontario?!?! Do am I! Hi neighbour :-) i'm so full of questions if you don't mind me asking. Shall I private message you? (Sorry, kinda excited to see another Ontarian on here)
  18. That must be terrifying. You and your mom will be in our prayers. Take care of yourself, and best wishes for your mom. Oh, and 'Woot' on the 3 months you shaved off!!
  19. Is it bad if I say I'm a little envious of you? . I have been on the road to wls for 3 years now, but have only now gotten date for my first appointment with the dietician. I'm sure I still have months ahead of me before I actually get the surgery. Tonight my hubby suggested we split a med pizza as a snack! I told him he was not helping my weight issue at all... We setled for a sleeve of soda crackers. :-)
  20. Good for you to be sticking to your guns. I totally understand the frustration of not having someone's support. My own DH thought for the longest time that diet alone would help me, and had even dieted with me to show his support. But it doesn't last. After a week or two he figures time is up and he goes back to his old eating habits and so I do after a while as well. So happy for you, keep us posted with how things go!
  21. I would have to speak with the organizational health department I suppose. Technically there is no modified version of my job, I am in most ways the 'grunt' of the healthcare industry. Which, for the record, is not a shot at other aides and/or nurses doing the same type, just a reality. :-)
  22. Oh wow. That will be a problem. Did they say anything for after 6 weeks?
  23. Hi everyone. So I work in a hospital as a PSW (aka healthcare aide) and I am wondering how long I should expect to be of work for. My average day includes washing, dressing, toileting and transferring patients ...for 12 hours. I know everyone is different, but if some people in the nursing field could let me know how they did, that would be great! Thanks people!
  24. Congrats!! Where are you from? Are you getting RNY?
  25. Hey Cass, How did the appointment in T.O go? Did you get a date?
