  1. My advice: keep trying! I'm only 6 days post op, and I am still above my pre surgery weight (grrr!). I've tried to add more Water, but it's a game (how much can I drink before I hurt) every minute. Do check your inches. Also, how do you feel today? Do you feel better, can you move easier, is walking better? Try not to fear the numbers, they are just numbers. (That being said, I should try to follow my own advice!) Seems to me you are doing great!! Although, I would be angry/frustrated. :-) Ps: funny looking suture would have me in a fit to see my surgeon!
  2. Ha! I was lucky enough to be able to walk around normally. Not only was I exhausted!!! But, I was grumpy, frightened, and feeling crazy! Maybe try to lighten your workout? Just moving is good. That's all I was able to do, and not much at that.
  3. Hmmm. Which bypass did you have? Are you looking at the Biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch? That is the most drastic one that I'm aware of. My doc wouldn't do it for me, she was worried about lifelong nutritional deficiencies and the dreaded "dumping"
  4. I'm a July 15th surgery!! Not a lot of pain (but, I do have higher than normal pain tolerance) and just this morning had my first OMG nausea scare! Thank goodness my husband was right here and got me the medicine. I was terrified to vomit!! I open my Prilosec capsule to take it, would that help? Not sure it's okay to do, but so far good for me. I'm struggling not being able to take my anxiety medicine because it's to big!! I'm calling the pharmacy today to see if there is an alternative.
  5. I went to a fair four days post op. Can you say "dumb move!"? Lol. I was craving all the fair food, but I made it. Not without regret, fear that this too will not work, and with pride that I made it. Hang in there!
  6. May I have a copy of the list too??? And I would love to donate toward your time!! Do you have anything set up? Otherwise, name a charity and I'll donate to them. :-) Keippala@live.com Thanks so much! I'm 6 days post op and doing great!
  7. Try scrambling with some heavy cream if you are looking for scrambled. I am allergic, so no eggs for me. Also, having surgery on the 15th, my Dr said nothing like eggs until after my next appt (on the 31st). I'm on "thin enough to pass through a regular straw". The thickest I've tried is yogurt thinned with soy milk, which went down well.
  8. My doctor explained it to me as akin to "brain freeze" as in the capillaries in your stomach might constrict when too cold? I'm not sure, but I AM sure that I miss ice!!! I saw someone had thin ice cream shakes on their liquid diet, but that seems like it would hurt. I'll get used to it, but it's crazy!
  9. My support group has a clothing trade. Might want to start one?
  10. Hi! I had a RNY on 7/15 (with a hysterectomy). I'm home and on liquids. I see so many more options than I was given!! I don't have yogurt in my list. I'll have to call my NUT tomorrow and see what she says. Anyway, we ended up renting a wheelchair because I have five kids (three bio two foster) and couldn't be stuck at home anymore. We went to a local fair and I walked some and ride some and it was lovely to get out! Anyone restricted on cold items? I'm told no ice in drinks. Is it truly because it will cause pain?
  11. I would make sure all my post op going home questions were answered. I felt like they packed me up and sent me home and I was really scared. I gained 20 lbs of Fluid while in hospital. They sent home nausea medication and never told me about it. I didn't know what to expect or know why they thought I was well enough to go home.
  12. Hi! I got home from the hospital yesterday. I had a RNY and hysterectomy on 7/15. The pain is a bit much, but not as awful as I thought. My biggest issue is the Water retention. I feel like a stay-puff marshmallow! I'm up 20 lbs from my check in weight at the hospital?!? I walked down our stairs today, got a shower, and walked around our (tiny) garden and am feeling a bit better. But the puffy arms/hands/body is driving me nuts!
