  1. I’m just about 3 months post op. I’ve been eating about 4 oz per meal and losing pretty well. Tonight I had a frozen meal - it was an Amy’s Cheese Enchilada Meals - with beans and corn. I ate the whole meal. I didn’t feel overly full and when I recorded it (I track my protein) it was almost 9 ounces!!! How did I even eat that much?! Terrified I stretched my pouch or something - though I really didn’t feel overly full!
  2. Hi! I am 2.5 weeks post VSG. I’m in puréed stage and following everything to a T - HOWEVER, I ate an ounce of hummus that had poppy seeds in it before I realized OMG these are seeds! I told my Dr who told me to watch for fevers etc. But I’m wondering if anyone has done this or similar.
  3. Hi. I am a vegetarian, scheduled to be sleeved on 5/1. I'm having so many doubts about my decision. Not because I think I can do it myself...because I cannot. I just have so many fears about complications, hair loss, recovery, etc. Another fear/worry that I have is due to the fact that I am a vegetarian. Will I be able to get enough Protein and Vitamins through non meat products? It seems protein is such a huge focus and I understand that but can I really get enough to be healthy and not lose my hair?!
  4. hi - can anyone tell me - how long after surgery are you at an increased risk for blood clots? I don't want to be worried forever Thanks!
  5. What exactly are the complications that could arise by not doing a pre op diet? I keep reading that doing the diet will help reduce the risk of complications. I'm just not sure what complications. Thank you.
  6. why no antibiotics? haven't heard that....

    Risk of Blood Clots

Wow, so crazy! Thanks for your response. So it sounds like this pre-existing blood mutation was the culprit, in conjunction with surgery AND flight? And you look fabulous by the way! Glad to hear you're doing well now

    Risk of Blood Clots

Wow! I would think at that point, you would be out of the increased risk stage Assuming and hoping you are ok now @@skinnygirlwithin ?
  9. Hi. One of the things I want to be proactive about is walking to prevent blood clots. Exactly HOW MUCH is sufficient to prevent them? And are you able to do enough immediately after surgery?? Thanks.
  10. Hi....I have surgery scheduled for May 1st. I have been scared this whole time, with moments of feeling brave and ready. I'm back to the fear thing today as the date is one week away. I just don't want to cancel and chicken out. I've done it all and tried every diet and failed miserably. It is time to be done with this problem but something is holding me back...fear. Ugh...... Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  11. Hi. I have not had my surgery yet, so I know I am getting ahead of myself, but I'm a planner (and a worrier). So, I'm curious what a body looks like after 120 or more lbs lost, without having plastic surgery for skin removal. After WLS, I really don't want to need plastic surgery and am willing to live with some loose skin as long as clothing covers well and wonder if that's possible. If you have done this, would you mind sharing? Thank you!
  12. Thanks so much! And thank you for sharing the picture! It helps me get an idea in my mind b/c I can't even imagine it! You look great and had great success with your sleeve. Praying I have success as well and you are totally right - I should not let the fear of loose skin keep me from getting healthy.
  13. Hi. Just looking for some hope.... Did anyone NOT need excess skin removed? And if you did not, how much weight did you lose? Did exercise help?
  14. So, my insurance does not require a nutritionist. I'm thankful that I'm already approved but wonder if I need to see a nutritionist. I am a vegetarian, so I'm already a bit concerned about figuring out what and how much I should eat. I guess I answered my own question. But, please tell me - do you find your nutritionist very helpful in your daily meal planning?
  15. Thank you all! I think if my insurance covers, I'll definitely talk to someone and see what they say. I appreciate your responses.
  16. Thank you. Wishing you the best. How do you feel?
  17. Hi. I am scheduled for May and am curious what meals actually look like after the initial diet restrictions. I understand that in the first few months, it's very limited, etc., but what does a normal day look like 6-12 months in? What about holidays? Do you get to enjoy? Thank you very much!
  18. Great. Thank you - that sounds great and you've obviously done wonderfully (congrats)! Next question if you don't mind, when you get head hunger and you eat through the day or eat larger portions, your sleeve isn't as restrictive? Or do you get sick? Or do you just deal with feeling full and crappy?
  19. Hi. I'm brand new. My doc does not require pre-op dieting. I plan to ask at the next visit, but wonder if anyone knows why? Thank you!
  20. Ah that's a good point. Especially because I'm already having my last meals....and surgery isn't until may! What doc did you use in NJ? I'm using Dr Bell.
  21. Does anyone know how safe the sleeve is, later in life - say 20 plus years down the road? I know there is data to support the safety of the bypass, but is there any for the sleeve since it's newer? Thank you.
  22. Thank you....definitely helpful info. And wow, 94 yrs old....God bless!
  23. Thank you all. Glad to see others experiences. I always heard about the liquid diet so when he said no, i was confused. Best wishes to you all!
  24. Ok, so he's not a quack, lol. Just checking! Thx
