  1. I have horrible heartburn for the first time since sleeved 3/19/14. Can I chew tums? Is this ok with Sleeve?
  2. Hello. I had gastric sleeve done 3/19/14. Everything is going great except for one issue. Since about day 5-6 Post-Op I have had foul smelling gas and yellow diarrhea. Every day, multiple times a day. Now on puree diet. It also occurred on liquid diet. Is this normal? Please help!
  3. Thank you all so much. I did call my surgeon and talk to his nurse. She didn't seem to concerned. She said many people do this pre and post op, including herself. Some people do have constipation as well. Everyone's system re-acts different etc. I am worried that it could be the infection many have talked about because of the foul smell. However, I did notice yesterday that the color changed (to brown) and the smell lessened. I also note that I didn't eat eggs. I wonder if eggs may play a part in this? Thank you all for responding. Sorry about such a gross topic!
  4. At my Doctor's suggestion: I ordered the book "Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" from Barnes and Noble used for like $5. It has great recipes and ideas in it. Just a suggestion. I am not 100% on how to use these forums yet, I will try to post a photo of the book. Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery: Over 140 Delicious Low-Fat High-Protein Recipes to Enjoy in the Weeks, Months and Years After Surgery Author: Levine, Patt Urban, Meredith
  5. Surgery was 3/19 and about a week and a half later I could sleep on my back in bed. I slept in my recliner until then. I still can not sleep on my sides without pain. I hate it, because I am a side sleeper. Sleeping on my back is killing me!
  6. My doctor had me do 10 days liquid diet, day before clear liquid only day of - nothing. I used a protein shake called Bariatric Advantage (as per his request). He said that my liver was great, nice and skinny day of surgery. Not going to lie to you, it was SO HARD! I was hungry the ENTIRE time. But, I lost 10bs during the pre-op diet and the hunger was gone after surgery, so it was all worth it.

My surgery was also on 3/19. My Doctor and the hospital staff were all wonderful and did a great job at keeping my pain and nausea at a minimum. Coming home was tough (pain pills at home are not as good) LOL. My Doctor prescribed me medication pre-op for nauseous to have waiting for when I got home. It has done a great job for me. The pain got better after about a week. Then, getting the drain out on 3/27 made the pain horrible again. This time the Doctor wouldn't give me anything else for pain. I guess (according to him) other people do not have pain issues with this? Well, I did. That pencil sized drain tube felt like it was the size of a 6'5" 325 lb MAN coming out of my side. I think it was bruised, as I have had lots of tenderness. Food cravings come and go, as expected. I miss food. can't wait to get to the point of eating again. I don't even want to eat A LOT, just eat. I too feel like it is difficult nourishing my body with only fluids and protein shakes. I have cried and "regretted" this surgery twice. BUT, I have lost about 22 lbs and my diabetes is finally under control. I have only taken a very small amount of insulin 2 times, I am sure only due to stress from pain. I was on a LARGE amount of insulin pre-op. So, I think it really will be worth all of the pain and sacrifice. I did this to save my life, after all - being thin and looking better is just an added bonus!
  8. Ok, so I am new to the group and to forums - please be patient with me. I am super scared! Surgery tomorrow. Does this hunger go away? I have been on liquid diet for 10 days - today is water only. Please tell me this hunger goes away!
