Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)

Thanks Janey. Just needed a little reassurance. Mine has glue over them, too. I was able to wash the glue off one to have a closer look. Wanted to ensure there wasn't infection hidden underneath. I'll just wait it out and keep and eye on them.

So, one week post-op. Of the five incision sites I have, two are still really sore. There's no extra redness, oozing nor any signs of infection but both have large scabs on them. Anyone else experience this? Need advice from fellow medical professionals.

I'm home!! Had a wonderful experience with BajaBariatrics in Tijuana, Mexico. I could not speak more highly of the program they offer - completely top notch. Anyone hesitating to go to Mexico for the surgery should not hesitate to contact Dr. Jalil Illan's group. Anyhow....was sleeved this past Tuesday, spent two nights in hospital and two more nights in hotel (with daily in-house visits from the physicians) and flew home today. No complications, minimal gas discomfort, feeling great!! I'm five pounds less than when I left home and looking forward to many more losses. I hope to have worn my winter clothes at this size for the very last time.

They just took my Mom in then I'm next. I was hoping to go first, I'm feeling a little anxious. Can't help thinking about my daughters and wondering if I'm being selfish putting myself In danger to look better. My Mom did remind me that it will make my life better for my girls as I'll have more energy and self esteem to get out there with them more. She's right. I'll try to think that way.

    Tijuana Or Puerto Vallarta?

I'm having surgery here in Tijuana with Dr. Fraijo in the morning! Flew in this morning and have been treated like a queen since I got here - can't keep up with all the drinks, broths and Popsicles the coordinator has been having room service send up. Met some lovely ladies who've been sleeved over the last few days and it was a great experience for them. Very excited!!

    Tijuana Or Puerto Vallarta?

I did a ton of research on both locations prior to deciding on Tijuana. I chose Dr. Fraijo because in addition to his bariatric experience, he is also a trauma surgeon, and the surgery takes place in an actual hospital. Be careful where you choose. Some surgeons work out of strip mall clinics and if there is a problem, you have to be transferred by ambulance to the hospital.

    Nail polish

Thanks everyone. I was told by my surgeon that either toes or fingers are okay, but not both.

    Nail polish

Anyone know if I would have to remove my nail polish for surgery? I'm having a mani/pedi before I go in and wonder if I should forgo the polish. First world problems.

Those of you who've had the surgery already. Did you have to remove your nail polish prior to surgery? I don't have any on right now (not allowed to wear it at work) but was thinking of getting a mani/pedi before I go. I'd really like to get shellac since I'll be off work for the next several weeks. It's lasts a long time but also can't be taken off easily. Thanks, D.

Had my "last supper" tonight and it was better than usual. LOL Tomorrow it's pre-diet day ONE! Wish me luck.

My Unjury shakes have just arrived and I'll hit the grocery store tomorrow for the start on my pre-diet on Tuesday. Then only a week away from surgery. Excited and nervous at the same time.

Anyone have something they are really looking forward to as they lose their weight? For example, I am really looking forward to buying high boots from a regular shoe store. Right now, I have to special order extra wide calves and so the selection is limited.

It's official, I'm booked!! April 15th is the day and I'm already getting nervous about surviving the 7 days prior of strict liquids only. Any tips to get me through this? I've decided not to tell anyone but my husband, Mom and best friend about the surgery. I work with a lot of very young, catty, judgmental nurses (sad, isn't it!?!) and don't want to have to feel the need to justify my decision. My worry now, however, is that my Mom is going to give me away. She has decided to come along and have the surgery, too. That's fine but then she is planning on visiting my sister and family in another province before she's back on solids. I know there will be a lot of questions about her strange diet that's she's not going to be able to cover. My sister is the worst of them all for being judgmental and she's the last person I want to know. Because she lives so far away and we only see each other every few years, she wouldn't see me losing the weight and there would be no awkward avoidances of how I was doing it. I think my Mom is going to blow that for me now. I'm actually feeling a little bitter about her jumping on my bandwagon - very selfish, I know. She told me she is actually okay with being overweight but wants to get the surgery because she will be jealous if I'm skinny. So, basically, she's happy as long as I'm fat along with her. Arghh!! What a way to think about one's own daughter!!

I'm a Level III NICU RN from Canada. I'm having gastric sleeve done with Dr. Jalil Illan Fraijo mid-April. Glad to find this forum. I was wondering about the time off post-op as well as I work 12-hour shifts on the floor. I have only 2 1/2 weeks booked off. Hope that will be enough for me.
