  3. I used Dr. Angstadt and he is part of the New York Bariatric Group, where Dr. Shawn Garber practices. I don't have any complaints about the doctor as he is a pretty nice fellow with a wealth of knowledge but I can say that practice is very busy. Their reputation for success is very high and I am not sure if it's because they have been on Dr. Oz but they have a pretty big practice. They have a ton of clients and it's growing by the minute. When you go for a consult, prepare your questions beforehnd and bring pen and paper to jot down what you need to know because there's a lot of information you will want to write given the nature of the surgery. The good thing about the practice is that they (the staff) are knowleageable and will get you approved as soon as you finish up all pre-op requirements. The doctors are experts in the field and have had plenty of experience through volumne of patients alone and that's a great thing with this type of surgery. The downside is that the practice so busy, you absolutely must must must do follow-up on your own. You must call to ensure what was supposed to be done by your point of contact there has been followed-up on. Hope this helps

  5. I had the hiccups too and I felt it in my ribcage. Felt as if a sharp object was pressing against my ribcage. The hiccups were annoying but what immediatley remedied it was walking. Walk, walk walk, even if it's just around the house. Walk as much as you can. Good luck
  6. Thanks everyone. I am now 11 days out and I can definitely say, I am feeling very normal. Probably my real challenge is learning how to eat all over again and I mean this by saying taking small chews instead of big ones as well as small gulps instead of guzzling down my liquids, I'm confident I will learn, afterall I gave up a lot to be able to reach my goal.

  9. Does you know the bougie size the doctor used?
  10. I was sleeved last week Tuesday. The hospital I was in required us to walk the floor every 2 hours even overnight to get rid of the gas and help ease the pain. The walk was not long, maybe 10 minutes. I must say I had minimal gas and by day 2 no pain. Today 9 days out, the only sign or reminder I just had major surgery is the incisions. Good luck & keep moving.
  11. Good luck to you. I'm 9 days out and this is all I think about
  12. I was sleeved March 18 (5 days ago) and part of the process with the Bariatric unit was that all bariatric patients had to walk, even overnight. So you bet, the night of surgery at 12AM, 2AM, 4AM, etc, all bariatric patients were woken up to walk. And can I tell you, I am generally a gassy person regardless of surgery but the walking was the trick to get it out of my abdomen. I remember waking up after surgery with a gas pain in my side feeling as if I was being stuck with a sharp objetc. So I can only recommend you walk off the gas if you can. I am so so so surprised I am not experiencing any gas pain today, I mean I bought a ton of Gas-X pre-op to prepare me for post-op and I may have had 5 just as a precaution in the last 5 days. Good luck to you

  14. I'm two days post-op and its hard to believe I just had major surgery. My symptoms are minimal. Tight after surgery, in the hospitals recovery area, patients are asked to walk every two hours and this includes overnight. I had a lot of gas and I truly believe the walking helped resolve this. Although I still have gas it seems very manageable with gas-x. For pain, I was prescribed Percocet which helped relieve any pain I'm supposed to be feeling.
