  1. Hey everyone. Question for those greater than 8mos out. Is there a stall period with Gastric Bypass before your 12-18mos window of opportunity or was weight loss consistent with a slowing down period? I’m 8mos out and the weightloss has slowed down. I’m actually happy at this weight, 70lb loss and 5’11. But wondering if I should expect more weightloss through the 12mos period? My surgeon stated that he expected me to be around 205-220 as a good weight. I’m currently at 222. Any information is appreciated

    GB Stalls - 8mos out

Interesting - Thanks for sharing on the anemia. During my last checkup they did find that my iron levels were low and added a vitamin A and Ferritin to the supplements that I am taking. I didn’t realize that this had anything to do with weightloss. I agree, more losses just slower. Thank you

Food Portions - 6mos post op

Yes - i have my measurer now. Thanks
  9. Hi guys - I’m just shy of 6mos out from Gastric Bypass and have a question on portion sizes. Any idea what the portion sizes or ounces one should be eating at 6mos out? Grant it there are some days when I can have more than others but is there an estimate? Sometimes I feel like I’m eating too much. Meaning, the food goes down fine but 15mins later my stomach is super full. I’m thinking if I base it on ounces then I wouldn’t have this issue and maybe a better stopping point. Let me know your thoughts - thanks

Food Portions - 6mos post op

Yes - The slow full signal. Most times your full signal isn’t right away so I’m thinking I’m eating more than necessary because by the the time my full signal hits, I’m super full. Thank you

I don’t drink while eating. I was told to wait at least 30 minutes in between for each. Since it takes a few for your food to digest, perhaps I’m not eating as slow as I could. I think that may be the issue. I’m not scarfing food down, but I’m also not eating as slow as I could. This is helpful, the mention of taking my time. I’ll consider that. Thanks

    Thyroid Issues

Has anyone experienced thyroid issues after your surgery? My surgery was on 12/2. For the past two weeks it feels like my thyroid is about to jump out my neck. I didn’t realize what it was until first thinking it was my heart rate. But after getting that checked it was on. However, I was sleep the other night and I kept feeling like something was beating quickly then noticed it was my thyroid. I didn’t take my thyroid medicine today. I was thinking it may need to be adjusted. I will also call my doctor to schedule an appt and I have a blood test that he ordered when I went to see him last week and the thyroid function test is a part of that. Anybody experience this? I’m on Armour thyroid 120mg for hypothyroidism.

    Thyroid Issues

Thank you so much. My labs showed that all is well. I may need to adjust my meds but my blood work came back fine. Thanks
  16. Hi there - I’m 4wks post op and I’m dizzy when I stand most days. I initially thought it was dehydration but I went to urgent care on NYE due to feeling crappy, dizzy and tired. They took labs and stated that my labs were fine but that I was probably slightly dehydrated based on my symptoms but nothing severe. They gave me fluids via IV and I did feel better. However, the dizziness when standing is still an issue. I thought that it was because I missed my blood pressure medicine but I’m back on that and still get dizzy. Could this a symptom while healing from the surgery? Does it get better with time?

    Dizziness (4wks post op)

Thank you. Crazy thing is my BP still seems to be running on the high side (147/82) so not sure. I’m definitely going to schedule an appt with my PCP to discuss. I have started Pedialyte to help keep me hydrated. Thanks

  23. I had my surgery on 12/2 and I have also had gas pain. However, it has subsided a bit more each day. Gas-X and walking really helps. Also, try something warm to drink. I even warmed my water and walked a bit

    Water intake

Hi guys - I had my GB surgery with hiatal hernia repair on Friday. Came home Saturday. I was feeling woozy yesterday and today and the nurse called and she told me I’m not getting in enough water. Any tips on getting water and protein in. I cannot imagine how I’m supposed to get 32-64oz of water in daily. Does this get water with time?

How far out are you? I’m glad to hear that there will be a level of normalcy back to drinking. So glad to hear this
