Good morning! I got the birthday present I really wanted! Ins was approved on Friday, called the office this morning and she is checking with the doctor, but looks like March 24th will be my date, which is my mom's birthday. So excited!

Just got an automated survey call from BCBS Anthem about my upcoming hospital stay....I guess it truly is a green light. OMG!

Just talked to BCBS Anthem. They said they have APPROVED the authorization for inpatient services for 03/31/2014. So, I emailed the insurance guru at my doctor's office to see if that means...ya know...approved approved and we are good to go. I hope he gets back to me...I am normally a patient planner, but this has got me so impatient! LOL

My surgeon's office submitted auth request to BCBS Anthem on thurs (impatient me called to make sure they received it). I called today to check on the status and it's listed as pending but they have until Thursday to process. Customer service was amazing. She took my home number and will contact the auth dept on thurs and call me at noon. So now I wait. Surg date my doctor requested is March 31st.

I called BCBS Anthem today. My surgeon's office submitted auth request for March 31st surgery. Ins said they have 5 days to respond and to call in a few days.....

Last of my insurance requirements...done! Today I had my psych eval and it went great. I filled out the normal new patient paperwork while waiting. The appointment ran a little long, as we both discovered that we had something in common...mother's to 28 weeker preemies. Anywho, just all the basic questions. Making sure I have good support from family and friends (I told them yes, PLUS the great support on Bariatric PAL!), that I don't make rash decisions, etc.. All is good, she is faxing her letter over to my dr this afternoon. Here is my timeline (for BCBS Anthem): January 27th, 2014: First appt with surgeon. February 5th, 2014: Nutritionist Appt (telephone) February 7th, 2014: Pulmonary Clearance Appt February 11th, 2014: Cardiac Clearance Appt February 23rd, 2014: Physical Trainer Appt February 25th, 2014: Psych Eval I am all set for a last week of March surgery. Should know later this week for sure. BCBS is apparently very fast with their approvals.

I wonder if it's going so fast because I have bcbs anthem. Maybe their approval process doesnt have as many hoops? I am really taking this gift seriously. Today I had 1 cup of coffee and then mixed uo some protein powder with some soy milk. My doctor requires a 1 wk protein shake only prior to surgery so I am trying to ease into it so it hopefully won't be so difficult when it will be my only choice. Anyone else have bcbs?

Hi! This is my first post. All of this is happening so quickly for me. Sometimes I feel that it just can't be true. I went to my first appt with my surgeon in Jan. 29th. I have BCBS Anthem. I have gone to nutritionist, pulmonalagist, cardiologist, physical trainer, and have my last appt (psych) on tuesday. I am on track for a March 24th surgery. I really thought I would be more nervous, at this point I am just excited and grateful.
