  1. Laura: I too like easy to make, with high Protein. I recently bought these new easier than anything meals that Hormel makes. They have some with chicken, pot roast, and turkey. I especially like the chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. The calories are low for a complete meal, the protein pretty high, and they're very cheap. I think they're called Compleat meals. They don't require refrigeration and take 1.5 minutes to microwave. Try it, you might like it. My Daughter says they smell like cat food, but they do taste good. She told me that they don't really taste good, but that I probably think they do because I don't eat much anymore. I'm going to try your canned ham. Sounds yummmmmmmmmy! 2. JJB: Sorry to hear that the pain left and then came back. I hope he can figure out how to take care of it soon.:Banane35: Sue Magoo
  3. Lauren: Congrats on starting your journey. I hope that all goes well with the psych appointment. You go girl! Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-252/G-160
  4. Hi Terri: A friend of mine tells me to change foods when I hit a pleateau. It seems to help. Good luck. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-252/G-160
  5. Tanderson: You're doing so well:), I wouldn't change a thing you're doing. I am jealous of your success, although I've done well too so far. I actually weigh myself first thing in the morning, and again at night. I can remember when I would do this in the old days and the scale could be as much as 5 pounds heavier in the evening than the morning. Now it never fluctuates more than a pound between morning and night. I can remember a friend of mine who does weight watchers has a funny thing she says about people who weigh themselves too often. Something about using it for step exercises. Keep up the good work:clap2:, and screw the scale! Don't let the number change anything you've been doing, because it obviously works very well. Congratulations on your fabulous weight loss to date. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-252/G-160
  6. Chantay: I get this pain in the left shoulder occasionally radiating up to my neck. The first time it happened was when I got food stuck. The pain was so severe the first time I called the surgeon and had to go to the hospital to make sure I hadn't messed up my band. I didn't ask for anything for the pain, but they offered morphine, and it helped alot. When I get this pain now it is because I have eaten something too fast. I discussed it with my surgeon. He said that it's probably that my esophogus is bothered by whatever I ate too fast. The esophogus has some nerves that run up your left shoulder to your neck. So, that's probably why it hurts my shoulder and neck. It usually passes pretty quickly when I get it now. Of course if I pay more attention while I'm eating it's less likely to occur. Good luck and please pay attention when eating, slow, small bites, you know the drill! Take care. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-253/G-160
  7. Congrats Barb. Welcome to bandland. I think you're going through the toughest stage now. Things get much better when you can eat mushies. Be patient and let everything heal first. Take care. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-253/G-160
  8. Strawarts: Thanks for the laugh. I have sympathy for you. I've been there, and done that, luckily it's always been at home. I'd like to share that I had the pb and slime, and also got stuck all at the same time. It was a month post-op. I had eaten about 1/2 cup of tuna fish that I had mixed up with mayonaise. I had eaten the same thing the night before without a problem. In addition to the pb'ing and sliming, I also got this god-awful pain in my left shoulder and neck. My daughter thought I was choking to death after I made the mistake of trying a sip of water that was too big on top of the stuck tuna. I thought I was going to drown standing at the sink in my own kitchen! Then I thought I might be having a heart attack. It was so bad I called the surgeon and went to the hospital. They made sure that I hadn't messed up my band. I didn't ask for it, but they gave me morphine for the pain in my shoulder and neck. Since that time I found out that there are some nerves running along the esophogus up through the shoulder and neck. These nerves can get irritated after too much pb'ing and sliming. I guess this is the bands way of telling us to slow down, chew, chew, chew, chew, and don't eat more than a 1/2 cup. It's too bad that formerly being 160 pounds overweight and living carrying around all of this excess weight wasn't enough that I have to go and get a band and that band has to remind me every once in a while that I shouldn't eat too much. Anyway, in conclusion, I love my band most of the time (down 71#), but I have hated it a few times too. Take care. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-253/G-160
  9. Hi: I was having a similar problem. I recently tried the new "Activia" yogurt. It helped alot. You might want to try this. Good luck! Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-253/G-160 Banded 7/26/07
  10. Hi Sybaritic01: I was banded on 7/26. Doing well. Down 35 since banding, but 71 overall since I started dieting three months before banding. I still miss overeating, but that's in my head, not in my body. I'm exercising alot - 4.5 to 5.5 miles per day walking. Some good things are happening....closet with three sizes in it, down to lowest size, need to buy new clothes soon. Silly things, like I don't have to sit down to put on socks and underwear. Can almost touch toes without bouncing, but not quite. Going for second fill on Friday. Hope to be filled anyway, because I'm hungry. Keep up the good work. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-253/G-160
  11. Hi: I'm a long way from goal, but I'm curious. :cry How do you stop losing weight with the band in place? I was banded in July, didn't get a fill until end of September, and I lost every week. Do they have you eat more often? How does it work when you're at goal and don't want to lose any more weight? Congratulations if you're at goal and able to answer this question.:clap2: Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-253/G-160
  12. Maria: I use it twice a day with coffee. I couldn't give up the flavoring in the coffee. I'm probably not supposed to:rolleyes, but I've been successful so far - down 71 :)since end of April, banded on 7/26. Good luck. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-253/G-160
  13. Misskitten: Based on others that I've read about online this is not normal. You may have some unusual swelling. I would call the doctor if you're not keeping liquids down, but otherwise, give it a few days. Hope things improve soon. Sue Magoo
  14. Hi Wannabthin: I've just reached the 70.5 mark of weight loss. I started dieting at the end of April because my bmi was just over 50 and my surgeon doesn't band anyone whose bmi is 50. I got banded at the end of July 2007. I've lost 70.5 in total as of today. I eat three small meals (even smaller since I got my first fill last week) and I usually have a yogurt in late afternoon to hold me over until supper. I eat sf popsicles and sf fudgsicles at night. I also make a snack of crystal light iced tea by adding crushed ice and lemon and eating it with a spoon. Sometimes instead of the iced tea I have the lemonade. I exercise every day. I walk between 4.5 to 5.5 miles per day during the week and at least 3 miles per day on the weekends. I have a long way to go but I feel that I've had a succesful start. Good luck and soon you willbethin! Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-253.5/G-160
  15. Hi Misskitttin: I've lost 33.5 since banded on 7/26/07. I'm exercising alot and was feeling hungry until I had my first fill. I got filled last Wednesday and I've lost 5.5 since then! Good luck, and remember we didn't put it on overnight, and it's not coming off overnight. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-253.5/G-160
  16. Hi Patti: I was exhausted for two months. I finally figured out that while I could get used to not eating much I was not able to give up having a coffee in the morning and coffee after my noon-time walk. I never gave up my morning coffee. I recently started my noon-time coffee again. There was no other way I could deal with being so tired. I am exercising 4.5 to 5.5 miles per day and without the afternoon caffeine I was afraid I couldn't keep up the exercise. Now I'm good in the afternoons and am sleeping fine at night. I've seen alot of other postings about this. Everybody else says make sure you're getting enough Protein too. Good luck. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-253.5/G-160
  17. Hi Margie: Two months out things are pretty good. I can pretty much tell now how much I can eat without having a problem. However, I just got my first fill today so that's like the rules are changing again. It's amazing how things change. I used to "have to walk", and now I "want to walk". I used to try on something and it was too tight. Now I try things on and they're too loose. I even got to go through a trunk and take out clothes that I put away with hopes that they would fit again. Not only do they fit, but alot of them are loose too! Best wishes to you for a successful banding experience. Take care. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-268.5/G-160
  18. Hi Lindaa: I did get a fill today. Just about painless and other than having to just have liquids today, mushies tomorrow, and then food on Friday, nothing seems different. I'm certainly looking forward to solid food on Friday to see if anything is different. Thanks. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-258.5/G-160
  19. Lets try that again! Easy is best for me. Breakfast - coffee w/ff flavored cream & instant oatmeal lunch - hard boiled egg and grapes dinner - Hormel's new "compleat" meal - chicken, gravy, and mashed potatoes - only 220 calories, 3g fat, and 21g Protein. Snacks - as usual - sf popsicles - they keep me sane Go Bandsters! Sue Magoo H324/S287/C259/G160
  20. Easy is best for me. Yesterday I had the following: 1.
  21. Karen: I was having issues with that too. It's hard to know how much is enough, versus how much is too much. Try to remember how many bites you took when you got the lump and have less next time. I find that when I get the lump if I'm not sliming or pb'ing if I walk around it helps a bit. I'm not sure if it is gravity helping or just that standing stretches out the abdomen more. Good luck, and best wishes for less "lumpy" days. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-261/G160 banded 7/26/07 - not filled yet!
  22. Hi All: I was wondering if anyone else was banded in July and still not filled. I'm so hungry! I'm hoping to get 1st fill on Wednesday, but I'm doubtful because of my conservative doctor. I've lost 6 pounds since I saw him two weeks ago, so my guess is that he still won't fill me. We'll see. :help:Does anyone have any suggestions that I could use to try to convince him that I need to be filled, besides telling him I'm hungry? I'd appreciate all of your input on this. Thanks. Sue Magoo banded 7/26/07 H-324/S-287/C-261/G-160
  23. Melanie: I was banded three days after you. I'm still adjusting to the band, but overall it's going well. I've lost 24 pounds since surgery, and 39 pounds before surgery. Down 63! :clap2:I still haven't had a fill yet. Have you? I'm going to see my surgeon next Wednesday and am hoping to get a fill then. I think he believes in not making any changes if things are going well. I told him two weeks ago that I'm getting hungry, so hopefully that will count for something. How's it been for you? I hope it's going well. I'm on lunch hour so I can't stay on the computer :ranger:long. I have to go for my noon-time walk now. I have been walking 4 - 5 miles (mostly in one-mile increments) every day. Just recently started climbing this huge hill (I call it Heartbreak hill - like the Boston Marathon hill) daily. I'm up to climbing it seven times in a row now. I'm shooting for ten times in a row by October. Good luck and let me know how you're making out.:nervous Best wishes! Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-261/G-160
  24. I know that I saw someone mention them on this forum before, but I couldn't find it. It's something with a b or bbb, something like that. I would appreciate if someone could tell me what those things are that most of the bigget losers wear on their arms. I know that they monitor their activity with them. Thanks in advance for letting me know. Sue Magoo H-324/S-287/C-262.5/G-160
  25. A-Marie. It took about six weeks for me because I had to have the sleep apnea test, nutritionist consult, and psych appointment first. Good luck!
