TP~ I have not had my band done yet, I go today to see Dr. Keilin, do paperwork & testing at Wadley, get banded this coming Wed. You wrote that you forgot you had been banded and I know I will forget as well, but after reading your comments, I think I will buy one of those colored plastic bracelet/bands and wear it everyday just so I will be a constant reminder until I get used to the idea that the band is now a part of me. Glad to hear you're doing okay. I'm sure that bite of bread getting stuck was scary. The closer I get, the more unsure I am of going thru with this.....but I will.

Yes, I started the Slimefest, yesterday afternoon. I am so excited!! I've been going back thru the threads and have read about how everyone made it thru. Ya'll had a really great support group going on. Still do. I have learned a lot. This is really going to a life changing event, for the rest of my life. But I'm looking forward to it. This Monday is a govt. holiday so I wondered if they would still have their meeting?

Ouch!!! 3 years of waiting!!!!?? For the premiums I have to pay out, I better not have to wait that long! Congratulations Gloharmar on your daughters graduation!:clap2: What is she getting a Masters in? I would love to go to school again and get a degree in "something". I'm 54 and have a full time job, plus a part time job, and then I have horses to tend to, grandchildren to play with, and a son that practically lives at my house during hunting season! My life is pretty full but part of me would still like to go for that degree. I have been a pest with my insurance, but they've pretty much told me the rest is up to the Dr's report as to "why" I need the banding. They say "IF" they approve it, I only have to pay 10%, which is a great relief. I'm planning on going to the meeting on the 8th. Is it at Wadley? I am a redhead, say hello if you see me!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the site Arkie! Sounds like everyone is doing pretty good. This great weather has done a wonderful job of lifting our spirits. I finally did get a call from the office and they told me Betty would be working on my file this weekend and would let me know where I'm at in the process. I am surprised that some of you talk about all the things you ate that you shouldn't have. What surprises me is, I didn't think things like barbecue and bread would even go thru the opening. What about salad? Can you eat it? Also, is sipping water only in the beginning? I have 3 small pills to take every morning and a sip of water won't be enough.

Hello everyone! I was thinking about you Sugarbear weighing in the same as before you had the cast, so with the cast on, that's probably an additional 3 lbs, if not more, sooooo I figure you LOST at minimum 3 lbs. That's good considering all you have gone thru lately. I have done all my pre-op stuff, I called my insurance and they do pay for it, but don't know how much of it. I've left messages for Betty a couple times, but she hasn't called back. So she's probably waiting on verification. I am glad to see this rain we've been getting. I live up at Whitecliffs, Ar and all the trees are turning, Fall is here, which makes me feel GREAT!! Thanks for all the words of encouragement and hope. Ya'll are great people. Have a Blessed day:)

Hey~ Glad to hear you're doing better Sugarbear! I'm sure it was good to get out today. Nice cool breeze out. I may call the office, I hate to bug them, but I know I am gaining more wt. just waiting to hear something, and I've got to get back on slim fast NOW. I'm probably one of the few that actually likes it. Plus the holidays are coming and I sure don't want to be doing the pre-op right before all that stuff! I'd really like to have the surgery behind me before the holidays hit. Later!

Where is everyone? I guess you're all out walking around the Fair Grounds, enjoying the sunshine, and walking around in your "several smaller sizes" while I'm stuck here on overtime. This has been the L o n g e s t week! I've been waiting to hear from Betty, hoping my ins. had approved me. But, she has been  on vacation this week. Boy could I use one! I haven't had a real vacation since 1991. I'm patiently waiting:faint:

Hello everyone! Ya'll sound so positive today. Sounds like everyone is contented and losing wt. gradually, nobody's gaining! That's all good! The weekend was indeed beautiful. My two small grandsons came up to spend the night. We had hiking trips thru the "forrest" (the woods), they were on the lookout for bears and lions! My hubby snapped a picture of me sitting beside him and I have been depressed about it ever since. I can't get the image of "me" out of my thoughts. I'm so disgusted with myself. I hope I will be scheduled soon. I'm just waiting........I feel like my whole life is on hold.

Boy Sugarbear! You really had a bad break!! Hope everything heals up ok. This is one of the reasons I wanted to get banded. I have fallen like 4 times this past year and all because it feels like my balance is off.

Have a good weekend~I've been working :ranger: 12 hrs a day 6 days a week and I'm just about worn out......I sure won't have a hard time sleeping during the sleep test.:notagree Wish I were on my way today for banding, hopefully I'll go in two weeks.

Boy, ya'll sure do have my hopes and inspirations built up~~I can't wait. I really appreciate having this site to go to with such great people on it. Your honesty and truth go a long ways with me. Oh I'm sure in a few weeks I'll be in some pain and be uncomfortable, but ya'll have shared so much here, that I know I can handle whatever comes. Got a good idea what "sliming" is, can't say that's gonna be fun, but at least I know it's coming. Congrats to all of you on rediscovering yourselves and all that God meant us to be!!

Stress eating is the pitts, I know that~ guess it would be better to clean house or really nosedive in this computer at work! My daughter is 28 and near your age. She wants to get banded and I agree, it's probably the best thing for her. I see her esteem going down. I was afraid she was too young and that she would miss out on too many of the pleasures in life (concerning food). I know, there's a whole lot more to life, than food. At her age, seems like everything centers around social gatherings and food. But after seeing so many young women here on line that are really happy and have no regrets about doing the band, I feel more assured that it's right for her too. Do you have any regrets, or has it been long enough?

Good luck! I'll sure be thinking of you come Friday. I too am worried about the $ part. No one has yet to discuss that part of it with me. I go talk to the psych today and Monday do the sleep study. I'm getting really anxious. Can't hardly sleep for thinking about it all. My daughter is an RN at St. Michael. She is wanting to get banded, but has to wait until her pregnancy is over. I can't get a ticker because every site I find is blocked by our system. I'll figure soemthing out.

is it really so hard to get your daily intake of protein that one needs to purchase the protein shakes/bars? Or are those just for quick fixes, out the door stuff?

Okay ~ Now that I know my hair won't fall out and I've been told not to "snort" the Biotin~ LOL~ tell me how to add a ticker tape.

Good morning everyone! Are ya'll saying that my hair might get thinned out, therefore I should take biotin? I'm not big on taking pills of anykind. Can't stand the smell of vitamins.

Thank you sooo much for the info. You have already eased my mind. I'm using Dr.Keilin. My son is in Radiology at Wadley and he says she is the "best". I've met her and she seems very knowledgeable and confident. If slim fast is what we drink for two weeks before & after, no problem there, I love it, especially blended with ice or some fruit.

Hello "New Friends"
Just wanted to say hi to my new friends out there in LB World! I have a sleep study scheduled 9/10/07 then Betty said it looked like she could schedule me 2 weeks from there. I'm really excited the closer it get's but a little hesitant too. I've read about slippages, leaks, gaining wt, etc. It's a little worriesome. Not banded yet, but still headed in that direction! Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should have on hand the day after surgery? I've read where some said they wish they'd had their pain meds filled, some said tylenol was plenty. What causes erosion? If you can't eat as much after the banding, how is it that some people gain wt? Are they simply choosing the wrong foods or not paying attention to the caloric intake? Last question~~ I will be having my banding done at Wadley, is it an overnight thing or done as day surgery? I do my sleep study 9/10/07 then everything should be a GO. I am so excited about feeling and looking like my old self again, but I am also a little bit afraid of the process of getting there.:nervous:paranoid
