  2. The hardest part of all is ignoring that head hunger especially after decades of letting it rule. I'm 6 years out and occasionally it still wins BUT I get back on the BANDwagon
  3. I started out just walking for 1/2 hr. until Doc said I could do more. I used to HATE to exercise (my body was a visual aid to that fact) I started doing a Pilates/Yoga DVD as well as the 1/2 walk and I can't tell you HOW MUCH my body shape has changed. I've only lost about 20 lbs since surgery (5/30) BUT have gone down 2 sizes. When I started the DVD the crunches started causing some pain around 1 of my incisions. I talked to the physical therapist I knew (didn't want to tell Doc and maybe get yelled at) and he said I'd probably torn some adhesions (scar tissue built up from the incision) and to stop the DVD for 2 weeks. I have resumed and no problems now! Just be careful!
  4. I have worked in an elementary school for 13 years and I can tell you that we bend over backwards to reach the students who are low income, lower intelligence, and low interest. Many come from homes where the parent(s) have a low interest in their children's education. It seems alot of the work we put into the students from 8-3 is turned over by home life. There are some motivated students & parents who make it a joy to work in education, but I fear that number is shrinking.
  5. I, myself and a friend have had the Lapband. She is further ahead in the journey. She says it took her til the 4th fil before she felt restricted. I've only had 1. Though I don't FEEL restriction when I eat. I don't have much of an appetite. I continue to eat small portions, have 1 protein shake (Body Fortress vanilla 23g of pro) or mix it in my coffee or chai tea, drink plenty of water(fluids) and exercise every day even if it isn't always apparent that I am losing weight. I have lost 23 lbs since my surgery at the end of May 07.
