  1. I'm pre op. But this episode pissed me off SO MUCH. She was in the hospital for a month BEFORE surgery. There is NO EXCUSE that she didn't lose weight. And she was in the hospital for a good minute AFTER surgery. Her husband was totally an enabler. He needs to grow some balls. She's bed ridden. What's she going to do to you of you don't get her those 2 boxes of cake mix, or 4 bags of chips, or the grilled chick you TRIED to order her on the way to Texas. NOTHING. SHES BED RIDDEN. grrrr. And the end. Her "where's my yellow brick road. Where's my happy ending. I did everything right. How didn't it work for me?" YOU CRAZY, it's cause you NEVER got out of bed, and shoved the worst foods down your throat after. I would feel this way whether I was watching this 3 months ago before I really decided to go down this new life path, or 3 months post op. She needs some serious help, and so does her husband.
  2. I'm totally having food funerals. But I'm Not binging or eating more than I did before I decided to go on this journey. But for the most part, I won't be eating most of the food I do now, for a loooooooong time, if ever. I'm having WLS to change my life, and that means losing most of the crap I eat now. I won't miss it, and as of now, the only thing I think I'll look forward to eat someday is pizza. Maybe a little Mac and cheese. But I've been eating my "favorite" things for dinner. Things that are fried and terrible for you (ha!) because I'm not going to let myself eat that shit later. I'm doing to to change the way I view/eat food. The crap I eat now got me fat. I'm not going to go back to it. I won't deprive myself, but I'm definitely gonna change my life.
  3. I totally spend toooooo much time here. But it's helping me from bugging the crap out of my friends, and my dad. I just want to talk about it, because HOLY CRAP I CAN'T WAIT IT'S ONLY 26 days from now! Hah. But yeah. If I'm not studying, in class, with friends, or sleeping, I'm probably sitting on the couch, "watching" tv, and reading this board. But, my psych was really impressed with how much I knew and how prepared I was, and was happy I was so excited... So it's helping! But yeah. I'm on here alllllll the time. I love that there is a huge message board for all us "fatties" who are taking life by the horns and being healthy!
  4. I'm talking about a years worth of post op visits with the doc. You go MANY times in a year. Same with the NUT, and support ANY time I need it. Basically any time I need to see anyone, for a year after surgery. I don't have an issue with paying $250 for all that, when it was. $250 for my consult alone, before my insurance kicked in on 1/1/2014. (My consult was on 12/26/2013)
  5. I have to pay a $250 program fee. But it covers the years worth of group meetings, NUT and post op doctor visits. It's totally worth it in my case.
  6. I hear ya! I'm scheduled for February 19, barring any insurance bumps. You?
  7. Opposite side. Spring lake. By grand haven. Or just north of holland.
  8. Amen sister! Ain't no body gonna stop me now! . We got this!! So, are you having any "good funerals?"
  9. Oh yeah. I wouldn't have been able to go to work or even school after. Waaaaaay too tired. No sick feeling or anything for me, just purely "can't keep my eyes open a second longer" type of tied. Hahaha. And not only that, depending on what time of day your appt is, I was at the hospital for almost 3 hours for the stupid 10 minute thing. But they will tell you that you can't so anything but be a bump on a log. No driving, no nothin. Even told me I can't cook dinner! Lol so I wouldn't even think about going to work after. Ps. If you already said, I'm sorry, but do you have a date yet??
  10. I have my psych evaluation tomorrow. It'll be for reallllllly real after tomorrow and officially submit all my paperwork for my February 19 date. I just hope I'm not crazy (or crazy enough??? lol) and they okay it. I know it'll be fine. I'm far to excited about this life change!
  11. I just had mine done Friday. It was a piece of cake. They knock you out completely, so you basically get a quick snooze. I will admit I was tired for a few hours after. I came home, ate some lunch, and napped the rest of the afternoon. I got home around 1, fell asleep between 1:30-2, and napped on and off until about 5. But yeah. The procedure itself was easy peasy. I think my dad said I was only back there for a whole 10 minutes. The worst was them starting the IV, because my veins hate people an run away as soon as they jab the needle in.
  12. Yeah, it's like that at my surgeons office too. Lots of the girls/ladies there have ha surgery. And yeah, the friend that had it done it may definitely doesn't follow the rules. She eats what she wants (smaller portions though) drinks beer, etc. I don't get it... I'm doing this to get healthy. Tht means my diet has to change. Forever. Eating what I do now is what got me to where I am now. Smaller portions of it isn't going to do me any good. Haha.
  13. Oh wow! That's good. I have a friend that had t done in May, and then one of my other bff's sister had it done in May, another bff's sister had it done December 2, and my sister from another mister had it done on dec 3. So kinda te same thing, I've got a few people I can go to with all my questions, that I can't or won't ask here. Haha. But even then, I try not to only talk to them when I have questions about this, because I don't want it to be the basis of our friendship now. But I definitely plan on all of going out with our hot bods, eating our cup of soup, having a good time. Hahahaha. Sarah
  14. Yeah, I finally had to make a mental note to stop talking about it so much. I'm sure y dad and friends are sick of hearing me talk about it. Plus, my best friend was going to have the surgery last year, but her insurance through work won't cover it, so I try not to talk about it around her... She's happy for me, but bummed she's not doing it. I wish she would. We're definitely why each other have gains weight. We're the "go out to dinner" buddies. Haha.
  15. I think I'm so excited about all of this, that there isn't room for fear or nerves. I really can't wait to lose some weight and be healthier, and hopefully get rid of my inhaler. YES. IM SO OBSESSED WITH THINKING ABOUT SURGERY. Like, I can't stop reading this message board, talking about it, thinking about it... It's non stop. I need to stop so I can actually learn things at school. Lolz.
  16. Oh, it went fine. Since they numbed me for the first 2 attempts at an iv, I didn't care much. Hahaha. And Apparently took all of about 10 minutes! I woke up and said "already?" And then promptly fell back asleep. Turns out I have a real mild case of gastritis (reflux) which is weird since I never have problems or have the actual feeling of reflux. I must not have anything else, as all they told me dad was gastritis.
  17. New here. I live in spring lake (mi obviously heh) and I'm getting sleeved by Dr. Gluck in Muskegon on February 19. I can't wait!!
  18. Oh! And only 31 days (if you don't count today, or the day of surgery) until surgery. Holy crap I'm SO excited. I can't believe how fast time is moving. An how cool my professors are with me missing a class or two for this. They're all happy and think I'm making a great decision! Especially my anatomy prof. He had bypass 10 years ago and is happy for me.
  19. Yo, April! I just had my EGD done yesterday, and when they gave me my IV, they numbed my arm first... Maybe ask for that so it's not so bad! I thought of you when they did it. Although, they still couldn't get it started, and a lady from the IV team came down and got it stated, minus the numbing stuff, and I barely felt it. You got this! There's nothing to be afraid of. (I hate needles. Although I have 6 tattoos.... Go figure. Hahaha) Sarah
  20. I have no idea what my pre op appt consists of. Haha. I know it's at 10:30, and will be 3 hours long, and I will meet with the nut and surgeon. I was surprise they didn't do an EKG and stuff at my consult, so I assume they'll do it at pre op. I don't do my final labs until right after I start my liquid diet.
  21. I think Protein shakes and any kind of sugar free liquid, and water. So basically whatever protein shakes I want, and then powerade zero, or SF gaterade, flavored water. But I'll learn more at my pre op appt. I meet that day with my surgeon and have the last nutrition class until after surgery.
  22. Awwwww. I don't have kids and still feel like I'm my dads 18 year old kid (I'm 34) but this made me cry! You raised an awesome kid! PS. We got this. ❤️
  23. Yes! I'm excited for it, so I'm hoping since im excited about it, it won't be as horrible as it seems. Haha
  24. I got really lucky. Because I'm in school, I knew the date I wanted when I went for my consult, and my surgeon was awesome and added one more procedure to his already full day, so I could get the date I wanted. So with all that, they had to for all my other appointments in that time frame. I think it also helps that the scheduler is my friends mom. But either way, my doc was awesome about fitting me in with my not so workable schedule.
