  1. Im excited. I am going to Dorney Park next week. I am finally going to get to ride my roller coaster!!! WooHoo!!!
  2. My doctor has no special requirements before the fill. However, the first 2 days after the fill are full liquids then the second 2 days are mushies. After that return to solid food. Eat slowly!!!
  3. Ok, I was watching the travel channel today and they had something on roller coasters. And I thought about it. I have not been able to fit on a roller coaster since 2002. I know I am loosing weight, but I am not there yet where I can fit on one. This is a new goal of mine. I want to travel to Six Flags next summer (maybe this fall) and sit on a roller coaster and just ride. What are you looking forward to doing that you have not done in a long time?
  4. Did the MD put you on Rx Previcid for 6 months afterward? Right now she has me in Prilosec OTC. I really was unaware of all of the acid reflux and stomach pain I had until I started to take the medicine a few weeks ago. I feel so much better now. I cannot wait until it is repaired.
  5. Did anyone have a hiatal hernia repair at the time of lapband placement?
  6. Caffeine can cause gastritis. I was told it should be introduced slowly into your post op diet. And if tolerated you can have coffee. Just be careful.
  7. I have been reading a lot about PB's, but what happens when you get the stomach flu? I swear I get a case of it once a year. Can you vomit correctly?
  8. I have read a lot of threads recently. There have been a lot of complaints about arm pain. Who has had it? How long did it last? What did your MD state was the cause?
  9. No diet soda since 8/9/07 and still going strong. I was not able to give up coffee though. I have resorted to coffee most mornings. Only two cups, but I am trying to adjust as is. We will see how it goes. I relied on diet soda to help me when my stomach was burning. Sounds funny, but it really helps. Water seems to make my burning stomach worse. I think my stomach has a lot of adjusting to get used to.
  10. I would call your dentist and talk to him/her and see what is suggested. See if you can use an over the counter mouth moisturizer called Oral Balance. Maybe stay away from mouth rinses that have alcohol in them too. Carry a bottle of water with you to take sips of it to moisurize your mouth.
  11. I have been lucky to observe surgical proceedures on both smokers and non-smokers. Smoking makes the anesthesia process much less predictable. It is not worth smoking. Also it slows the healing process and leaves you at higher risk for infection. Not to mention the Cancer word. And you will need to be able to excercise when you get the band...
  12. look at this article, it will help you understand the "AP Band": Bariatric Times » Article Archive » The LAP-BAND AP™ System: The Platform Advances
  13. dotterp. you know, I never thought about weighing less and having more energy. it seems so long ago when I had energy. being heavy can really make you tired quickly. Last night I went out in Ocean City, MD to a club with friends. Had a few drinks and got in about 3 am. WOW was it cranky without caffeine this morning! I still feel like I need it. But I have only drank Water. I am praying that this withdraw will soon go away and I will no longer need caffeine and diet soda. I miss diet red bull too.
  14. thank you. good reason to start to give it up now. that way I will not be tempted if I get this proceedure.
  15. I have to do a pre op diet of 6 months with my insurance too. Why? Is it to proove something? If I do really good and say loose 30 lbs then I dont need the surgery or or if I do really good then I am disciplined enough for the surgery?
  16. I am currently in the information gathering stage about Lap Band. What is the purpose of the pre-op diet? I have read in the posts something about the liver. Please elaborate...
  17. I have reciently decided to explore the option of Lap Band in helping me loose over 100 lbs. I have an orientation seminar next month. I have met people who have gone through bypass surgery, they state that you cannot have carbonation. Stating it "stretches" your stomach. If I have Lap Band, will I ever be able to enjoy another beer? Will I have to give up my addiction to diet soda? I love caffeine and need it quite often. Can I drink my morning coffee? Help. I am trying to cut down on the caffeine intake now to see if it is possible to give it up forever.
