Hi Suzanne, Just wondering how the e111 benefits you if travelling to Belgium.Also did you find the Belgium experience a good one as i am currently trying to decide where to get banded as its only done in Dublin by one Polish Doctor and there is a bit of uncertainty about him.(and costs 10.000 euro)How did it work out for aftercare?you certainly have done well-congratulationsx I thought this site might be useful for us folks who are travelling inot another EU country for our band fitting. The E111 is no longer available or valid and you have to apply for European Health Insurance Card the link is as follows https://www.ehic.org.uk/InternetPROD/home.do It is a quick and simple process to apply, costs nothing and you should recieve it in 7 days. I am currently considering being banded.As there is only one surgeon in Ireland(not v.reliable either)and it costs 10,000 euro,I am considering prague as there is a direct flight from my city. Has any one any experience of BODY BEAUTIFUL UK who SEEM to be the most comprehensive doing it there. Also can anyone tell me if it is feasible to have your fills at a distance like this or would i be better to go to the UK which is only an hour away?Any suggestions will be gratefully received as i want to get on with this.Thx:)

You are absoloutely right about a witch hunt-its scandalous the way the media get hold of a story-it suits the medical profession to rubbish ACS of course and I agree with all you say-at least they are doing the op(even if it IS 10,000 euro)its hard to know whats going on. What Kim(in Cork)said to me was that he had been doing consultations for the past 2 weeks and was building up a waiting list.Maybe the fills being done by him alone only related to Cork. Thx for the encouragement, Coco-you're doing pretty brilliantly yourself-my bmi(i was horrified to discover)is 42 near enough what you started at-has it been really hard, I'm a bit concerned that he told me you have to eat 6 tiny meals a day and in work I generally have 15 minutes to STUFF a sandwich down AT SPEED-no way would I be able to eat 6 meals at 30 minutes each.However I only work 2 days a week so I suppose i can starve..................:rolleyes:hungry:

Hello! am I alone here?!! Well.......decided to have hubby along to the consultation as he will have to be my support when the time comes.Dr Jan(Polish)was really nice.Very anxious to explain everything properly and made me sign a form b4 I left saying I understood it all(!) Hubby and I had sat down with the list of questions which I got here and tweaked it a bit here and there to have our own list of questions.He answered all of them comprehensively and showed us the actual band(which HE invented apparently-made in Switzerland)he says he has had NO cases of slippage and problems all depends on how the band is fitted and HOW WELL THE PATIENT BEHAVES! He kept coming back to the fact that its not a miracle(shucks)but a tool.diet and exercise being the most important thing. He was mad to talk and very patient with my hubby who wanted to know the EXACT workings of everything. As far as ACS is concerned,they seem to be halting ops at the moment and looking for an operating theater to hire.The receptionist told us that Dr Jan has ideas that he wants a bigger area with more back up staff and that hes made quite a lot of changes since Dr Jerome "resigned" He told me that he alone does the fills and that he does not like other people doing them on his patients. The upshot of all this is that he seems to be putting everything on the long finger at the moment and waiting til they get the go ahead for an operating theater,He has put me down for March and I must go for tests in Feb-no talk of a pre op diet but smartass hubby asked him would it be an advantage and he brightened up and said indeed it would be a great advantage! The nice receptionist has promised to put me in touch with a few other people in my area.TG for this site as I was so informed going in to the appt.Thanks everyone for sharing your ups and downs with us!

<p>Well,I finally got up courage to move ahead with this banding thing instead of being a negative wimp and putting my life on hold-rang and was given an appt to see the new Surgeon in ACS TOMORROW!!! had banked on it being Dec(dont want band til March)so in a bit of a flap.However have list that someone kindly posted of relevant questions so will swot up on that tonight.Cant make up my mind if I will let hubby come in with me or not-ADVICE?as he doesnt know my weight. Havent told anyone else.......</p

Reassuring that the new surgeon is easy to talk to. Is he young?what nationality? if you have an emergency(pain)what happens?where are you advised to go?I presume surgeon only flies in and out as needed? Off to Majorca in the morning-looking forward to it but wish I was 8 stone lighter-am worried in case seatbelt on plane wont fit....I really have to make a decision about this banding biz.I have given myself til Christmas to decide whether to go for it or not.You guys are a real inspiration,thanks for sharing your stories.x:clap2:

Hi everyone! Am currently doing all my research and thx to anyone who has already helped me. My only concern now is that Dr Manuceau only does the op in Dublin(160 miles away) and most of the Irish people here seem to be in Dublin. IS THERE ANY Corkonians amongst you as I am interested to know if the ACS down here is as good as reported in Dublin Apparently they do fills here which is convenient.

Thanks so much Debb,thats a great help and reassuring to hear he operates in James' too. glad to hear he was approachable. No,the actual op has to be done in Dublin but the fills can be done here in Cork apparently. Lucky you off to the US-only thing is you can't buy any clothes!!have to save for next year and make another spree out of it!! I wonder if Loritha and Nikki are still contributing to this website?love to hear how things are at this stage with them.I wonder if its possible to talk to any of his patients who are a year or so on?? My back is bad too and I am starting arthritis agravated by the weight so its more that vanity with me too(tho I do love clothes) I would love to keep in touch and see how it all goes with you-the start of a new chapter in our lives.have a ball in the USx

Hi Debb GOOD LUCK on Sat! am dying to hear how you get on as I am only at the stage of researching it all having read somewhere that they are doing it in Cork.I thought about it also in Belgium but my Dr was against it in case i had a problem afterwards. I dont understand what these "fills" are-it only mentions a "ring" on the website and in Manuceau's blurb? can you explain pl? I am currently 19st and am desperate,having tried everything for YEARS(For ever actually)the only thing that I am afraid of is that I will fail,having spent the 10k-my husband would never forgive me.I have built myself up with hopes so many times before and not succeeded. Would love to hear how the consult goes-g'luck! Penny

As you can see I am a fellow Irish woman(Cork) and am considering having the op with Jerome Manuceau in Adv Cosmetic Surgery.Its really new here and am wondering how you found it?any complications?was it professional?also the others are talking about"fills"but I dont see any reference to that in the blurb on his site.Do you have to go back for that-it only quotes "tightening"the ring.
