  1. My incision site feels like a constant Charlie horse, sharp pains whenever I move, and the site is completely hard. Thanks for replying to my post!!
  2. I have my 3 week followup with my surgeon tomorrow but i believe i have a hernia. What were your signs and symptoms? Thanks
  3. So, update for me: had surgery at 1240 on 01/16, it took approximately 4.5 hours due to excess scar tissue. Came out and my heart rate shot up to 170's. Dr eventually called two rapid responses one of which turned into a code blue. Apparently, I was having a anaphylactic reaction to Dilaudid and needed to be intubated and bagged. Now I have a GI Bleed. I spent Thursday through Sunday night in the ICU. At this point, I am regretting this surgery. I hesitated to tell everyone my surgery story because I didn't want to deter anyone from following your passions. My situation was rare but yes, it did happen. Perhaps, one of these days when the unrelenting pain subsides, I can look back and be optimistic on my thinner future, but as of right now, I do have regrets. I don't want to be a Debbie downer, because for some of us, it's our only chance at happiness and a healthy life. But just listen to your body. I wish everyone many thoughts and prayers of a speedy recovery.
  4. Kcamp- Thanks!!! I'll keep everyone posted. Mine is at 1pm.
  5. Drobinson1...we WILL get through this together. Stay strong!!
  6. I had a 2 day bowel prep called MoviPrep. It didn't work until 4 hours later. I had the worst abdominal cramps BUT it worked and that's all that matters.
  7. 2Biglamb, I do and my surgery isn't until 1:00!!!! I've come this far so I'm not blowing it! Good luck to u.
  8. Kimybelle, thank you!! I have confidence in my surgeon and know she'll do everything to ensure a healthy and full recovery. Thanks for everyone's concern and best wishes. You guys are the outside support I needed! I have the overwhelming support from my husband, two children and my folks. But it's nice to have other support systems. Thanks again!!
  9. Kcamp...I'm doing better, thank you for asking. I just called and for my surgery time. Its tomorrow at 1pm, so my arrival time is 11am. I'm feeling much better knowing that there's a high probability of my "stroke level" blood pressure decreasing, my diabetes being resolved and my severe back pain subsiding. How are you?
  10. Vicky, I'm confident you'll do fine. My surgery is tomorrow. Lets all go through this together. Good luck!!
  11. I am so ready for Thursday. I keep seeing commercials for Ruby Tuesdays and Pizza Hut and I realize I truly have a addiction to food. I really hope my strong desire for fattening artery clogging food dissipates.
  12. Caffeine also is a stimulant. Perhaps a stimulant isn't what our new bellies need right away. That's my guess.
  13. Ahh that makes sense. Thanks!!!
  14. KCamp...thanks for the water info. I can barely get in 64 ounces now!!! Geez!! They gave me MoviPrep to drink over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday. Oh the joy! So, needless to say, I'll be spending my 2 days prior to surgery here at my house.

  16. Urkeelingme...thanks. that's what I needed to hear. I realize every 'body' is different and I'm confused as to how much water were supposed to get in. I know 60gm of protein. How much water. I hope my brain and new belly will finally communicate effectively.
  17. Kcamp- thank u!!! My sentiments exactly!! Thank u for understanding. My big day is Thursday so I start my 2 day bowel prep tomorrow (Tuesday). Are we ALWAYS going to crave these artery clogging foods or will we be able to control our temptations? I'm truly worried. I'm going through with the surgery of course, I have too many health concerns to not and two small children and a wonderful husband to live for. But it's nice to know that someone is thinking just like me!!!
  18. You're talking to someone who could sit down and eat 6 double cheeseburgers without skipping a beat. I'm just afraid it won't work with my appetite. I'm scared I'll still be "starving."
  19. Thanks. I'm losing weight being on this bird diet bit it's not a way of life. I can't live on broth and jello. I know I'll never be able to sit down and eat an entire entree of General Tsao Chicken again and lose weight, but it sure does sound good. I'm just skeptical because I'm not sure ANYTHING can curve my appetite. But thanks for your encouraging words.
  20. Let me ask you guys a question. So, has anyone regretted signing up for this journey? I'm beginning to. I'm 2 days away from my surgery, on a 14 day liquid diet, and all I want is a thick juicy cheeseburger. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm making the right decision. Is this normal?!?!? Help!!
  21. Redstacey: I don't think you're from a different era at all. If you are, then so am I. I'm a nurse as well and come home some nights to cook dinner. My husband works 2 jobs but some nights he cooks prior to leaving for his 2nd job. But it's just because I thoroughly enjoy cooking and cleaning. So, I think you and I have much in common. I wish you the best!!
  22. Mkmb- thanks so much for your advice. I will remember to ask my surgeon but your reply kind of gives me a guideline. Thanks again!!
  23. I have a very unusual question for you guys that I forgot to ask my surgeon. Now, my lap RNY isn't scheduled until January 16, but my husband and I were just curious as to when we could resume having a physical relationship following surgery. Any suggestions?
  24. 3 days of liquids, man, I wish I had your surgeon!!! I'm on day 12!! Good luck, my RNY is on the 16th.
  25. Around day 4 or 5 it got easier for me, so good luck. Keep me (us) posted!!
