  1. Hi all, I've been reading on this site for awhile, so I finally decided to post. I have my Drs appt on Sept 26, and have decided with my husband that this is for me. At 52 and BMI of 45, and many comorbidities, I am ready for, qualify, and my insurance will pay. My problem is, my 33 yr old daughter is agaist it, and has made a date to discuss this with me and my husband on Friday. She thinks I can do it on my own. Of course she is a size 3. I have lost over 100 lb several times in the past, but have always gained it back, plus some, so at this age I just can't do that again. Any suggestions on a good approach to make her understand it's more dangerous to stay in this yo yo pattern than to have a 1/2 hr sugery and getting my life back? Any help would be appriciated. :help:

    I'm failing, help

Bob oh Boy did I need to hear all this! I too have that message at the top of the page, and I have been struggling. I used to be on here everyday before I was banded. Now maybe once a month. I guess that tells me I'm not as motivated as I was. But we must never lose hope, and I am so appreciative of all the support that there is for the asking. I am going to go back to the post op diet (my Doc didn't require pre op). and get back to lossing again. I've been stalled for 4 months now. Thanks so much for starting this thread, and for all the encouraging answers!

What the H*LL is wrong with me!

HI, I, too have been having some trouble, and would love a buddy to keep motivated. I was banded Jan 08 and have lost 40 lb. Have been playing around and gaining and lossing the same 4 lbs for about 6 wks. But am doing better now, Started back to the Gym and now can't wait to get there. Trying to stop the snacking. Going for 4th fill next Wed. Hoping to get some restriction. We can do this! Just gotta keep changeing our lifestyle. It took a lifetime to make, so will take some time to break. Let's stick to our diet plan today and get to the gym! Don't ever give up.

    Bad food weekend

Ditto, I worked all weekend, and the food was flowing, and I found deviled eggs go down easy, Ate way to many. But today is a new day, and I didn't touch the chips, dip, hot dogs, etc. so better than I would have been without band. Bad habits die hard, but today is a new day, and I will move on to healthier eating. Good luck to you. Keep focased on those mini goals. We can do it!!

    Help! Lunch advice?

I buy a rotisserie chicken breast once a week. Weigh it into 3 oz servings, put that in snack bags, and cut up celery, then I make chicken salad with light mayo or light miracle whip. And a small salad. I like to make a few salads at the beginning of week, and then I can just grab them. Or Turkey chili, or a lean cuisines, leftovers. I just keep telling myself, "if your fail to plan, you plan to fail" Not going to do that this time! Good luck.

    Port Area Pain

Hi, I was banded Jan 22, and yes, I still have some port soreness. I wouldn't call it a sharp pain, just still can feel soreness, especially when leaning forward. I'm sure this will go away with time. Good luck!
  10. So Sorry to hear your not feeling well. I was banded on the 22nd and I feel good, but not good enough to go to work. I can't imagine how they could expect anyone to go back to work in a few days. I have 6 weeks off, I do some heavy lifting in the hospital I work in. But this is abdominal surgery, even with a desk job, I would think at least 2 wks if not 3. Hope you are feeling better soon.

    Banded on the 22nd!

Hi, I was Banded on the 22nd as well. I am feeling pretty good, still sore, but not hungry! My Dr allows all liquids right after the UGI. I am drinking 60gm of protein a day. little sips at a time. They gave me medicine cups, and I drink them every 15min. It took me 4 hrs to finish a 8 once drink. So 30cc is my limit at a time for now. Good luck!

I've been lurking around, only posted a few times during this process, but will keep in touch now that I am on my way. Looking forward to this journey with you all!

    Major Milestone

Thanks so much Stef for sharing your encouraging new's. I am going to be banded on the 22nd, and sometimes wonder with a bmi of 42 if I will ever be successful. I have hope now. I gained 5lbs over the Holidays, and was feeling discouraged. I already lost 2lb in the last 4 days since I sent the junk out of the house. I am so ready for this Surgery, and lifestyle change, so it was good to read your positive post. I have made many lifestyle changes already, working out and making better food choices, but the Holidays hit me hard. Keep up the good work, and I'm sure you will be at goal before you know it!! God Bless, Jeanne
  14. Well, I had my Lap Band Dr visit yesterday, and thanks to all of you I was very well informed about the pro's and con's, and how life will be as a bandster. I am greatful to all who answered my call for help when my Daughter was trying to talk me out of it. We have agreed to disagree, and all is well. I did purchase the book Lap Band For Life, and it was very informative. My DH came to the 4 hr Dr visit yesterday, and is supporting me 100%. I am going to Dr Noel Williams at the University of Penn. I have my cardiology appt today, and my sleep study and PFT next week. I am hoping I will have jumped trough all the mandatory hoops by the end of Oct, and get scheduled for surgery before the holidays. I am very determined to start this new way of life. I was wondering how you all put the design at the bottom of your page that shows your WL progress, I couldn't get my picture on either. I want to start my journey with your support, and would like to have all those things under my signature, it is so inspiring to see the wt loss. Thanks again!! God Bless, Jeanne
  15. Thanks so much for the support. I will get that book, and I guess I just needed some advice from people who understand to feel comfident that I am doing the right thing. Your right, she doesn't walk in my shoes. God Bless you all!!
