My handout lists the following examples for pureed foods. No skins, no seeds, well-cooked. Emphasis on protein-rich foods. Don't combine solid & liquids. Foods must be pureed to "applesauce texture." Greek non-fat yogurt, natural (no sugar added) chicken (dark meat) Turkey Canned tuna or salmon Low-fat cottage cheese sugar-free pudding with added Protein powder oatmeal with added Protein Powder Egg whites Peeled & pureed fruits, after protein intake Peeled & pureed vegetables, after protein intake I've also read other people liking cream of wheat, and well-mashed refried Beans or avocado.

We were told not to book our flight earlier than 3 pm. It's not such an issue for post-op tests (those go fast), it's more the possible delays at crossing the border back into the US.

This is me exactly. I've been absolutely freezing at times since surgery and it's not even really cold outside - in the 70s - I'm kinda glad because being hot all the time was a pain, but yowza! I slept in flannels and socks last night for the first time in years. ???? Also, my husband was able to watch American football in our room and on the big screens in the lobby lounge area.

Just waiting for the shuttle from the hotel to OCC for my leak test and drain removal. Can't wait for the drain to come out - it's become pinchy feeling. Then, barring issues, it's off to the airport. I'll be so happy to be in my own home and bed and shower. ???? Everything's been very nice here, but there's nothing like home. ETA: drain is out (weird!) and leak test went well. Yay! Waiting for our flight at the airport now. Crossing the border was an experience. Hundreds of people in line. We were able to move to the front because Omar put me in a wheelchair and a nice man pushed it for me while the others in our group pulled bags. Win win for all of us. Until agents decided to search one of our group, but that was cleared up fast.

Yes, once I was released to go to hotel they gave me my meds. I have an antibiotic, a painkiller, an anti-nausea, and an antacid. Most dissolve in water but the antibiotic is already liquid and my stomach did not like the thick sweetness of it. I was finally able to get it down by diluting it and taking a sip every couple minutes. Today I'm doing pretty well. Stomach is rumbly but not painful. Gas is moving out in hiccups and burps. I'll occasionally get a painful bubble but it usually passes fairly quickly. Can't believe it's already been almost two days since surgery. I was going into the OR just about this time Friday. It sounds like you're doing well also. ???? It's encouraging that everyone has come through so well. Good luck wantingabetterlife. I'm sure you'll do great!

My post-op diet is: Days 1-3 clear liquids Days 4-17 full liquids Days 18-27 puréed foods Days 28-40 soft foods Day 41+ solid foods

The ice chips right after surgery were so wonderful. My mouth was so dry. And yes most of the doctors and nurses have been pleasant to look at. Most of my dizziness has faded and pain is minimal (mostly just hurts when sitting up from lying down). I tire easily. Random nausea is a problem but haven't vomited (yet). The thought scares me. Worst thing so far was trying to take all my meds last night. My stomach did not like the sweet strawberry flavored antibiotic. At all.

Our flight out on Monday is at 3:30 and they've said it won't be a problem.

Had surgery around 1 PM and it lasted about an hour. Went well, according to the doctor everything was as expected. Was nauseated when they brought me back to my room but they gave me some antinausea drugs and it's been good since. I've been walking a bit, but am incredibly dizzy so I have to use a walker. Every time I get up the dizziness has been less and less. This morning (Saturday) is better than yesterday. It was a little easier to sit up by myself and get back in bed after. Pain is tolerable - the incision on the left has been the most painful when I'm moving about. Drinking has been good. I've managed juice and water so far. Makes my stomach gurgle.

I'm here at OCC. Found the shuttle van and crossed the border with no trouble. Wifi works just fine. IV is in and I'm just waiting my turn. Met Dr. Ortiz and he's super nice (and cute). My husband really liked him. So far so good. ????

Oh god I didn't even know that could happen. I hope my teeth make it through fine...dental work is a pain. ???? We get there about 6:30 and only have to fetch our bags and get curbside for pickup. At least that's what they say. I'm hoping it does go that smoothly.

I'm going in tomorrow. Nerves settled in today. Still more excited than anything though. I think I'm more nervous about arriving, finding the transport van and getting there than of the actual surgery (at least so far).

Hi everyone! Sorry for posting so much, but my nerves have set in. My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) and we are arriving in San Diego same day. OCC is picking us up at the airport at 7 am. My question is: for people arriving same day, do they take us straight to OCC or first to the hotel to check in and drop off our bags in our room (my husband is coming with me)? I'm hoping hotel first because that would be so much easier than carting all our stuff around - then I could take only what I think I'll need for the hospital stay. Thanks!

Glad you checked in. My Friday date is getting so close and, while I'm still excited to get it done and move on, my nerves are also starting up. I think I'm more anxious about meeting up with the shuttle and getting there than anything. Let us know how you're doing as you feel more up to it. Congrats!!

I'll arrive and have surgery at OCC on the 14th and leave for home on the 17th. We are also staying at the Marriot hotel. Only six more days!! I'm super excited to FINALLY be done with the "planning" stage and move on to the actual "doing and accomplishing" stage.
