Mississippi Sleevers
Hi Jscrimpshire, How have you been doing on the diet since your sleeve? 4 1/2 months out... are you used to the small meals and tons of water yet? How long did it take to get on real food? Did you have to do a medically supervised diet to get approved? Look forward to hearing from you.

Mississippi Sleevers
Hi Lady H, I bet you are excited since your orientation is Tuesday. Since I'm pretty new there isn't much advice I can give you but may there will be some solidarity in the fact that we are both in a close time line. Ask lots of questions, take notes and refer to them because I have forgotten a lot of things they have told me. My blood work came back good and they just told me to start taking Vitamin D-3. I have BCBS and have to do a 3 month pre-diet before I can even plan surgery. Of course I had to go ahead and pay my down payment but ... that's about it. Such a pain. Let me know how your orientation goes. BTW... I am going for the sleeve, what about you? Good luck.

My Surgery Is At 1Pm Today!
Good luck Adam. By the time you read my post you will have been sleeved. Hope all went well and that you are feeling fabulous. Be sure to follow the advice of the ones who have already been sleeved. They really seem to give good advice. Wishing you a quick recovery from your surgery and an easy adjustment to the new eating plan. Can't wait for my turn.

New And Hoping For January
Hi Missyt. I am pretty new myself and hoping for a February Date. I am tentatively scheduled for Feb 11th but I still have a lot of things to get done to meet the insurance requirements so I guess it will happen when it happens. I am currently on the supervised weight loss required by the Insurance company. This is a long slow process and though some people think it passes quickly... I feel like I'm on the slow roll. Good luck with everything and hope to see you around the boards.

Story Of An Emotionally Battered Fat Girl
Congratulations for overcoming your past and not allowing it to control your future. It is a powerful story and I admire you for having the strength to put it out there for God and everyone to see. You have faced your demons and now you know how to fight them. Keep up the good work and I wish you love, success and happiness. Thank you for sharing.

I just can't believe it!
I also have BCBS and my policy states those same requirements. Don't give up...get mad. Take charge of your own health plans and make sure the doctor's office gets all of those requirement met. Your physician has many more patients with that same insurance so they must know what information they are needing. Pull yourself together and don't take no for an answer. Call the Drs office every day. If they don't call you back, write them a letter. Make yourself heard. If everything fails, get your money back from them and go to Mexico for your surgery. If you want it badly enough, you will find the way.

I Lived Through This Surgery, My Sister Didn't.
Lyndsey, thank you for sharing your sister's story. I am so sorry for your loss, I know you will miss her terribly for the rest of your life. We all tend to focus on the size, weight, and health possibilities and seem to forget about the very real and very serious complications that can come with any surgery. I wish things had been different for your sister as she deserved so much better. She was beautiful and I know you are so proud of her. I hope you will celebrate your victories as her victories. May her memory be eternal. Sending Hugs.

Help Me Through This Break Up
Glad to hear you are reaching out and doing something constructive to help you get over the break up. Change is always hard, regardless if we wanted or needed it, but change always opens up other opportunities. When I was a much younger woman my dad always used to tell me not to measure my worth by the man I had on my arm. It seemed so corny back in my younger years but I am here to tell you... it is good advice. You need to be the best person you can be...with or without a man. Enjoy your girlfriends... make new friends and go about the business of enjoying life and trying new things. There will always be some good memories of this man but that doesn't mean he is good for you. Take charge and put positivity and wonderment in your path of life. Good luck to you.

Emotional Eating
Thank goodness your daughter and her beautiful family are safe. I am a stress and emotional eater so I know where you are coming from. You are correct. Breaking the diet and eating things you shouldn't will not help your daughter nor will they help you. Change your thought process on this. Think that sticking to the plan will make you healthy and that health will get you a chance to visit with your daughter and her family. Stay focused and pray for those who suffered major losses in the tornados. Good luck in your struggles.

Marriage Problems 2 Mo. Out
Everyone loves to feel that blood surging through their veins. The mental picture of ourselves with someone exciting and perfect is always so much better than the one with our spouse where we remember all the warts and scars. Just a few words of advice from me.... DON'T DO IT. Your husband has already proven himself to be a rock and to love you through thick and thin... He is not perfect and neither are you. If you want changes ... make some changes within your marriage and draw your husband out in to some conversations. You may be surprised what you will learn. This new man has thrown his spouse and marriage away in search of perfection. Do you really think you can fill that bill? Keep the fantasy in your mind... where it belongs.

How Long Does It Take To Get Approved?
I was told that it takes 2 - 4 weeks for approvals to come back from the insurance companies, depending on which one you have. I have read about a few people that got their approvals in about a week but most people say between 2 - 4 weeks. I wish you lots of luck. I too am waiting on a scheduled date.

Frustrated With The Wait!
Rena, I can so totally relate to your post. I had no idea how long it would take to go through this process. I started trying to get an appointment back in September and then got an appointment for the seminar in October. My first appointment with the Dr was Oct 31st and here it is November 18th. I just got paperwork in the mail to complete for surgery. I had already completed about 10 pages at the previous visit so I am not sure why all the duplication. I have met with the nutritionist one time and I guess I am on my own for the 3 month pre op diet. I was hoping they would schedule me for all of my pre op tests this month or in Dec since my deductible has already been met. But so far..nothing. I guess I'll be scheduled for those in January and it will cost me more money out of pocket since the insurance companies are decreasing benefits and upping the costs. Jeeeeez, it is so frustrating. Good luck to you.

Is It Possible To Get Approved Without A Supervised Weight Loss Program?
I have Federal BCBS and I am required to do the 3 month diet plan which I am doing now. I met with the Nutritionist and now I am just keeping a diary of what I am eating and each time I go to the doctor I will see the nutritionist. She told me it isn't required that I actually lose a lot of weight on the pre diet but I must show documentation of attempting to lose for 3 months. I was quite miffed at first but the time actually goes by rather quickly. My Surgeon told me it takes 3 months to get all the pre-surgery work done anyway so it's not really a big deal. Just do the diet and maybe you won't need it but if you do... you are on your way. Good luck to you.

Crossfit And My Sleeve
I've seen the term CrossFit in a few places but I am unsure of what it is. Can you give an explanation? I am in my 50s, do you think it is something I can do?

Mississippi Sleevers
Hi All, I am from the Jackson Mississippi area. I have not had surgery yet but I am going through the preliminary process. I am using Dr. Erin Cummins and I am currently finishing up month 1 of my 3 month pre-surgery diet as required by the Insurance Company. I would love to converse with those going through the process and those who have already been through it. I know there are some people out there but where are you??? Would love to hear from you, get your advice and guidance and have some emotional support through this difficult time. Take care my fellow Sleevers and I'll be waiting to hear from you. Janet

Feb 2014 Surgery?
Hello All. My date has not been positively scheduled yet but we're looking at February 11th. My surgeon only does surgery on Tuesdays. I'm still doing all of my preliminary medical visits and just started my mandatory 3 month pre-operation diet. I am located in Mississippi and I'm looking for surgery buddies to help me through this process. Janet

Anyone else using Transformations in Flowood, Mississippi?
Hi Ladies. I'm using Dr Cummins as well. I've just got started in the process and met with my Nutritionist last week. I was under the impression that everything would be done at Baptist Hospital. Why are the rest of you Cummins patients doing it at CMMC? I've started my mandatory 3 month supervised diet prior to surgery. I have Federal BCBS and I know they will approve the surgery but I still have to jump through the hoops. Waiting on my appointment for my colonoscopy and the other stuff. Looking at this time life I suspect my surgery will be scheduled for February. I can't wait. I'm in the Jackson area and Im glad to see some Mississippi folks finally posting on here. Janet
