1. Hi All, Just wondering if anyone can help me. I have had the lap band for 3 years, with no significant problems. I had most of the Fluid let out last year, when I was pregnant with my son. I started getting it filled again and all is fine, losing weight slow and steady as I had before. I am just noticing now though, that after I eat, I get a headache, it is more a nerve pain rather than a throbbing ache, I was wondering if this happens to anyone else? I thought maybe the food was pushing on a nerve or something. It never happenned before and I don't have to particularly eat a lot for it to happen. Thanks :blushing:

How can you tell if the band slips

Katydid, I just had to say thank you for your post, I have Dr Kierath as a doctor too. I have been waking since my last fill 2 days ago coughing and I think refluxing, everything here said it was a slipped band, and I don't think it is that, it is good to hear Dr Kierath stitches it and it is harder for it to slip. I have had this cough stuff before and it does go away but I was scared that it was a slip from reading here.
  3. Hi all, I am new here and happy to find such a great site for information. I had the lap band done in May this year. I have had two fills and I am loosing weight very slowly. I have lost about 17 pounds, which is fine I don't mind doing it slowly, but I am just concerned because I am able to eat basically anything still and at large quantities if I wish. I think the weight I have lost is more because I am more concious of what I am eating and basically dieting than the band doing its job. I have had two fills so far and bought my next appointment forward 2 weeks. The reason I am concerned is my sister had the same operation in February and lost her weight very rapidly and is close to her goal weight already. Does it just get tighter or tighter or would you worry that it isn't working properly? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
  4. Thanks everyone, well I went today and in a month I still lost 2 pounds, he asked what I was still able to eat and I said basically everything, and he was proud that I had lost weight, he said most put on (scary LOL) so he put in 1cc today and said he doesn't think I will have anymore problems eating too much. Now I am even scared to try it!
  5. Thanks guys, I don't know how much I have had it filled, the doctor has never told me, but both times he filled the syringe right up, it looked like a 4 or 5ml syringe, but then I don't know if all went in if you know what I mean. I have no problem loosing slower if that is how it has to be, I just worry that it isn't working properly because I am able to eat a lot still. I thought by now it would be that I could only eat small amounts at a time.

    What's the left shoulder pain?

If it is in the shoulder tip, it is referred pain from having surgery to your stomach. Weird huh? I had it after my surgery, and it is all gone now.
Carmel, I am in Australia too, and I would take neurofen if it gets too bad.
