  1. Thank you, Liane! Maybe those of us having August surgeries in the Syracuse area could plan a get-together at the end of September? Just a thought...
  2. Thanks countrygirl! I'm reading as much as possible about this surgery and recovery. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing.
  3. Got a call today. Insurance approved the surgery. Definite date of August 27th. Pre-surg appointments all on August 9th. Excited and nervous. 2 week semi-liquid diet (Boost glucose control shakes 4x/day with 3 oz chicken breast and 1 cup non-starchy veggies each dinner.)
  4. Is anyone else on antidepressants or meds for fibromyalgia? They don't make them chewable.
  5. I am nervous a bit, but I have not heard from a single person who has had it that they regretted it. Mostly I am way past being sick and tired of being sick and tired. It will be a huge relief to start making headway in this weightloss battle, and start feeling better.
  6. Awesome! I've heard the pre-op diet is harder than post-op because of the hunger before surgery. Just remember it will be easier post-surgery.
  7. Thanks again, Daisy. I am attending a bariatric support group locally and the members are very supportive too. Most of them have had RNYs. I believe I was one of 3 newbies/presurgery. I have to travel an hour away from home to have the surgery. Most of them had it done locally too.
  8. Thanks, Daisy. It took a while to be sure that there was no other way for me to lose weight and get my diabetes arrested. I've had Type 2 diabetes for 8 years, and its been forever since I was healthy physically. I *so* want to be physiclally healthy--or as close to it as I can.
  9. I'm also from upstate NY. Dr. McDonald is my surgeon at Upstate. My surgery is scheduled for August 27th. I had shoulder surgery April 3rd, & this is the earliest date they could hive me. I have been working toward this date for 2 years.
  10. I finally have a date of August 27th. I stopped on the way home to buy my 2 fave ice cream flavors. I'm diabetic type 2 and been doing well with my HbA1c; so ice cream isn't a good food choice. Glad I'm not too abnormal with wanting it one more time. Thanks for this thread.
