Bummed out, had to cancel surgery
I had my surgery scheduled for July 30th and had to cancel. I am totally bummed. We have to take out a loan on our home equity and it will take over 2 weeks to get it done with the paperwork and appraisal, etc. Well, with having the extra time, my hubby is having a few second thoughts about the cost. He just wants me to wait until next May, after school lets out. (I am a school teacher). I just don't want to wait that long. I told him let's just rethink and decide on a day to get it done, maybe even the Friday after Thanksgiving, or something like that. Now I am just feeling so bad because I want to get this done and start losing weight NOW, not later. I think about it so much now, every time I eat I just think about how it would be if I had the surgery, how I wouldn't be such a pig. I don't know. Anyone else having this problem? Oh, my insurance will not cover any type of bariatric surgery, so that was never an option.

losing faith
It is hard to wait around...insurance companies make people jump through so many hoops to get this procedure done. Mine doesn't cover it at all! Oh well, just keep on, you will do great.

To Tell or Not To Tell...
I have decided not to tell anyone except my husband and one friend. I just dont want to have to answer all the questions and handle all the stares from everyone when I am eating. After having lost a substantial amount, I may "come out", but not at this point.

Anyone on Medifast?
I was wondering if anyone here has decided to follow Medifast or Optifast AFTER being banded? I hear alot of folks doing it before the surgery, but doesn't anyone follow those diet after the surgery? Thanks.

Consult today, surgery in 2 weeks!
Yes, the price is $17,400 and that includes everything, the pre-op, the hospital, doctor's fees and all fills. I know it is a lot of money, but it will be worth it.

Consult today, surgery in 2 weeks!
I am self pay. Our insurance has an exclusion on bariatric surgery. Also, I do not have high blood pressure, diabetes or sleep apnea, YET! I know I am headed in that direction though if I do not get this taken care of.

Another Newby! Self Payer
Hi, I am from Georgia and have struggled for so many years with overweight. I have tried everything more than twice to lose it! Today is my consult with Dr. Bagnato of Albany, Georgia. I could lose 100 pounds and be at a comfy weight. My problem is that I have no medical conditions related to being fat so I am going to be self-pay for this at the tune of $17,400. It is a lot of money, but my hubby and I discussed it and it is the choice we have made. My husband is a wonderful person, I know my weight bothers him, but he has never tried to shame me over it. I have gained approx. 50 pounds since we met 4 1/2 years ago. I would invite anyone to tell me their experiences, any advice, just anything they can share to let me know what to expect from this surgery. Thanks.
