  1. Thanks everyone! I'll let you know what the surgeon says!
  2. My surgeon suggest that for the first two months you crush your pills and put them in some sf apple sauce. The pills can block your pouch and since they won't be in your stomach for too long they may not get absorbed properly if not crushed. I suggest you ask about the ambien dosage because its supposed to be slow release, it may be hitting you too fast when crushed. You probably need a lower dosage to get you to sleep but may need to take more during the night if you can't stay asleep. I have the same issue!
  3. Good luck and best wishes to all those having surgery today!
  4. Ahaha!!! I just found myself thinking "maybe I should shave my legs if I'm going to be wearing those skimpy gowns" lol silly I know!
  5. My surgeon indicates that all pills must be crushed, chewable or liquid for the rest of my life since they will not be absorbed properly with the lack of stomach and duodenum.
  6. Does anyone know if/how you can crush a liquid gel pill? I take vitamin D in gel form and an concerned on how to take these after surgery since I'm mot supposed to swallow them whole. Thanks!
  7. Can't wait to... Be comfortable enough to let someone take a picture. Can't wait to... Not be afraid I won't fit in an airplane seat. And other people not to be worried they have to sit next to the obese person. Can't wait to ... Go to an amusement park and be able to ride every ride. Can't wait to go sky diving. I got turned down last time for being 40 lbs over the max!
  8. I've been on Optifast for 10 days now (1 Soup, 4 shakes, 2 bars) the first 5 days were torture!! I was incredibly hungry, both physically and mentally! But the physical hunger eventually diminished. Now the mental hunger is still there, trying to sabotage my success every step of the way! The bars are good, the shakes taste and smell awful (in my opinion) and the Soups are my favorite ( if I make them w chicken broth add hot sauce and salt and pepper). I am also allowed chicken broth. I put hot sauce, salt', and pepper when I crave salt. I found that if I mix in sf Jello and freeze the shake, the smell is not as bad and the taste is better. Same w a little bit of vanilla extract. Good luck! And remember this is temporary! Soon enough we'll be skinny, sexy, and healthy women! This torture is nothing compared to lifelong health and confidence problems!
  9. Ladies! I'm so glad to have found this site, this thread and all of you! I was freaking out about surgery and I'm comforted in knowing I'm not the only one going through this. I wish you all the best in your own journeys and hope to see you soon on the losers bench!
  10. Having surgery in a week!!! 3/22... On an optifast diet for two weeks before surgery and I'm soooooo hungry!! What I wouldn't give for a nice juicy steak!! But I'm going to be good for my health!
