  1. Hey Lisa, I was also banded by Dr Miles - May 2007. I have lost 85lbs so far. I'm 64yrs old & probably lose a little slower then a younger person. I have come from a 26 in pants to a 16 & 5x in top to xxl due to big arms. I hope you do well. I still occassionally over eat or not chew well & well, you know what happens. So good luck & keep on track. Barbara
  2. Don't know about that; hoping for arms/ bat wings taken off. The wieght hurts my shoulder jpoints & upper back.
  3. I've lost 85lbs over 4yrs, I think at my age (64) that that's pretty good. I've ran into some plateaus but my doctor says slow is good. Down from a size 26 to a 16; not bad IMO.
  4. Hey Marie, you're doing great. I look forward to reading about your weight lose. I'm Barbara, banded 06/12/07 Dr. Miles at St. Vincent East. I have hit a plateau(again) but I'm back to my food diary and extra excercise, swimming is my thing. I'll be looking for you, good luck and take care. B
  5. luluc, great size reduction. I'm down from a 26 to a 18/20. I came down from size 4x/5x shirts to l/xl. I have enjoyed the clothes down sizing almost as much as seeing the pounds leaving. BH
  6. Trisha, my banding was 06/12/07. I too cann feel my port. I still have my belly. I have lost 42lbs(slow go). But the way I look at it, I'm losing not gaining. I hate hitting the plateaus, they are trully bummers. BH
  7. Hey All, boy do I feel better. My last post I was worried about not losing and about beginning to eat. Lisa(practitiooner - Dr. Miles/Schmitt) says I probably increased my appetite since I have really increased my excersise. She gave me my fill of .5cc, I am back on the right road. No lose this time but I'm down inches.
  8. No, I live east of Chattanooga near the Ga/NC state line. I was told that Hamilton Med. Ctr in Dalton, Ga does lapband. I hope they have a support grp. I'm going to checout Chattanooga at Erlanger Med. Ctr. too.
  9. I was banded 06/12/07, I've lost 40lbs. and seem to be at a stand still. I have gone back to having one protein drink for my morning breakfast, a med. size lunch and a small supper. Should i do proten for 3 meals to jump start me agin? I have moved from the B'ham area to east of Chattanooga, Tn. I haven't been to a support meeting in quit a while. I really need to find a grp close to here. If anyone has any suggestions on how to start losing agin please write. I am excersing (swimming) 3x wk. I just started a ti chi(spelled wrong) class. Thanks:crying:
  10. Cher, I am eating way too much. I can't seem to control it. I get full and then the minute I seem to have space I eat again. Help!!!!!!!!!! I was banded June 18, 2007. BB
  11. Hey Ya'll, I moved close to Cleveland, Tn a few months ago. It's hard not to be close to my original support group in Birmingham, AL. Does anyone know of a support group near me? I'm willing to go to Cattanooga if I must. Barbara13
  12. As regard to food, it's a trial and error thing. I eat a good bit of fish and chicken. most of is baked. I can not eat bread, it feels as though it's sticking. I even double toasted it (wheat bread, of course). vegetables are varied. No green beens, they are too fiborous. I try to behave. I eat a lot of sugar-free popsicles. Talk to you later, Barbara
  13. I got my first fill on July 26,2007. Lisa said I only neede .05cc. I didn't think I would feel it; but I did. I've lost 27lbs since surgery on June 8th. Hope everyone is doing OK. Janie3867, keep going strong..document everything...make copies of all you tests and do ask for copies of doctor's visits. Veronica, bariatric coordinator, can answer questions too. Go to support group meetings. They really help. God Bless. Barbara:clap2:
  14. Dr. Miles did my band June 12 2007. I went to the support meeting this past Saturday, July 21. I have lost 24lbs. I was self-pay. The week of my surgery BC/Bs decided to start paying for lap bands. I just didn't want to wait any longer. All I know about rice is that it's sticky and they say to leave it alone for a while.
  15. Janie, I hope you're involved in a support group. There are several in Alabama. I go to MCE or as of this Monday it will be St. Vincent's East outside of Birmingham in Roebuck off I59N. Good L:uck. God Bless. Barbara
