out of network after the fact
Every policy is different, but I have a max out of pocket of $1500. I used an out of network surgeon but the hospital did the billing for him (as a package) and it was covered 100% but if he had billed seperatly I would have had to pay $1,500 total. I know because I called and ask the insurance company. There should ve something on the EOB that states provider may bill you $xxx is that not on there? Mandy

I am in the south burbs and would love to get together with others in the area. I know this should be in the Illinois board but I think it would get more response here. Please let me know if you would be interested and I will see what I can set up. ~Mandy

Just some fun pics
We have a pair of huge squirrels that are reddish in color and they play tag with each other. They run and run and run and then they just fall down and lay in the grass all afternoon. It is loads of fun to watch and my daughter is convinced that they are chip and dale. ~Mandy

No new e-mail notices from LBT?
Same here, I posted about it several days ago: http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=9118I reset the User CP settings and it didn't help. Maybe it is a glitch in the system, but since it is a free site and there are zero advertisments I can't complain. :Bunny Just gives me a reason to log in a few times each day. ~Mandy

I think the soy is maybe for those that are lactose intolerent? I believe they have about the same amount of protein in them right? I think the whey has lactose and the soy does not. ~Mandy

Free men's body wash...
I just love a good bargain and I love to pass that chance on to others. I check the other board everyday, even if it just too see the budget board. I have to say at Christmas time I have been given some great codes for free shipping or discounts for on-line shopping. I hate crowds so online at the holidays is the way to go for me and to be able to shop online and get a good price is great. ~Mandy

Highmark BCBS
ladysplenda, they are not saying it isn't FDA approved, they are giving you a list of possible reasons that it is not covered and that is not the reason they don't cover it. They told me that the band did not have a high enough success rate for them to cover it. I sent them more recent data and they are changing the way it is evaluated in the system. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, I am the one that got them to overturn the way they look at the band, I am the first one to be approved from Highmark BCBS ever. I realy put up a fight and I finally won. ~Mandy

Highmark BCBS Gastric Banding approval Have they approved ANYONE
I was approved by Highmark BCBS and they have paid everything 100%. My husband works for the railroad and we have insurance through the UTU (united transpotration union). I was given the same run around, the gastric banding they are telling you they approve is the vertical banded gastroplasty and it is not being done anymore. I appealed and appealed and was denied 3 times. It was going to an outside company and my husbands employer stepped in and I was approved. I was told that when I was approved they were changing the way they viewed the Lapband and it was going to be considered for coverage on a case by case basis, that was June 30th. I am not sure if the system has been updated but it may be worth appealing and going to the outside company or contacting www.obesitylaw.com Walter and Kelly are really great people and were very helpful even though I was too far along in the process for them to help me with appeals, they gave me some great advice and wished me luck. I am willing to help anyway I can feel free to PM me with any questions you may have. ~Mandy

Free men's body wash...
I posted and ask about a budget board, I am a member on a Disney board and they have a great place to exchange deals free offers and good sale/clearence prices that they find. I have found some really great deals thanks to the offers posted there. Maybe we can start something here and share great deals with each other. I know that there are alot of people that have a loan payment to make or they are trying to save for the band, I think this is a great way to help out. ~Mandy

So tell me, whats everybody drinking?
I am getting better about drinking plain Water, I even bought a water pitcher with the filter in the lid at walmart yesterday. It is made by dupont and was a really good deal and the filters are pretty reasonable too. I drink 2 small bottles of propel a day, one in the morning and one while I am walking. It is good, sugar free and has some Vitamins in it. As for "drinks" I usually have a bloody mary made spicy. If we are at home I use V8 a dash of Chipotle tobasco, some six vodka and a pickle spear. I rim the glass with salt, crushed red pepper or seasoned salt. I also like vodka and OJ. I am not much of a drinker but when I do those are my drinks of choice. ~Mandy

Port/Bra
I took a sports bra to the hospital to wear home but didn't need it. I was able to wear my regular underwire bra the same day as my surgery. My port is to the left of my navel and about 4 inches above it. I had some problems with high waisted jammie pants but that is all better now too and thursday is 4 weeks for me. I would suggest having both types of bras available just in case, the sports bras will be good to wear to the gym after you are healed. ~Mandy

I am a member of another forum that has a budget board. It is a great way to share free offers, great sale prices and bargains that we find. I know that I have saved loads of money from post there. Would it be possible to start something like that here? There are several people that are saving to pay for a band or making payments on being self pay. Just a thought~Mandy

How much time off needed from work!!
I was not allowed to drive for 10 days. I think it had something to do with not being able to turn and look over my shoulder quickly. I was released to retun to work and driving on the 8th day at my post-op visit, mainly because that was the last time I would be seen for 6-8 weeks. I could have gone to work but I am a stay at home mom. I was cleaning (light stuff) 4 days after surgery. My doc also has a lifting restriction of 15 pounds for 4 weeks. And they say to take 10 days off work but most return sooner. I was shopping and walking to the park 5 blocks from my home on day 3. When you get ready to return to work just make sure you have on comfortable pants, I know that sounds really stupid but the waistline of pants can get really bothersome on a new port incision. I wore the wrong pants to my post-op visit that was a 40 min car ride with traffic and I was miserable, they were great standing, but once I got in the car I knew I was going to regret that choice. So comfy pants and liquid tylenol and you should be good to go. ~Mandy
