1. Bea, congratulations. I'm sure you are very happy and moreover proud of yourself for the positive changes you have been able to make over the past year. So happy for you.
2. Kiap, I don't know how good this advice will be but I've been guessing about 2-3lbs per week but it also depends on your weight now (I'm a bigger person so it's coming off slightly faster). You're still early in where fluid shifts happen which can be interpreted as "stalls" when your body is readjusting. There are going to be periods during this time when you're not going to lose anything for days (or weeks), then randomly you're down 3-4lbs. I've found no rhyme or reason personally to my weight loss but again I am still very early in the process at about 11.5 weeks out. I would set a small goal and when you pass it, it will be a great feeling! I am very thankful for these challenges and Bea because it helps me track my progress and see others who are further out have success as well. It's exciting to see people make their goals. I missed my goal the first challenge (didn't really know how to set my goal either and was still early in the postop period) and I'm 2lbs away from goal for the New Years Challenge for which I calculated 3lbs/week. Good luck to you!
3. Mazzers, they did a wake up call as well and remind me to come downstairs the day of surgery. The bandage change on day 3 was more laid back- you kind of wait in the lobby until they call you. Any changes that needed to be made to scheduling, I was called at the Marriott. Everyone always called me by my name which was nice.
4. Good choice Lew to get it while the gettings good. Never mind the day you get it- it's just important that you're getting something you need done done. Going into the new year with a lot of things checked off your list! Everything will be fine
5. It's definitely not TMI. If I don't go for a week or more (this is one of my biggest problems), I will weigh 1-2lbs less after I finally go. It's crazy!
6. Gonna check in today in case I forget tomorrow New Years Challenge CW11/27-272 12/4-266 12/11-crazy at work and I forgot to weigh in 12/18-264 12/24- 260 Merry Christmas everyone!
7. Adoptivemom that's why I want to go back for my EGD! To sample some of the goodies. The buffet looked amazing and my parents enjoyed it. Hopefully by then I will at least be able to taste a little of some of the dishes. I feel bad for you for all of the travel issues. Hopefully you will be home soon
8. I'm sure everyone is different, but I'm having nausea still and I'm 11 weeks out as of tomorrow. I don't drink shakes often at all. I don't try a whole lot myself. At 6 weeks out, you're at the new life stage and should be able to try a lot of things. My stomach is fickle- even things I've had before will come back up sometimes. It decides what it wants and when. I haven't had any trouble with lettuce or tomato either.
9. HAF, Coopspa, Kindle, and Slvrsax- hope you all are doing well Happy Holidays to all. You all have been a great support 8) edit- sorry I left out Adoptivemom.
10. Karliy, same here- no drive! My poor boy has been very patient with me. Nothing's wrong with you. I'm so tired and don't feel sexual at all but the boy is staring at me wanting some action. I'm glad he's a good man and didn't get pushy with me. I finally gave in and had sex last night (sorry if that's TMI) and it was great! Maybe you just need some more time. I know I did- a LOT of time. Being exhausted doesn't make for a great romp in the bedroom. I didn't notice any difference in fluids thankfully
11. I'm in the same boat. I know I'm not eating enough daily. I'm just not hungry. I have not been hungry since I had surgery, I just know I need to eat. I don't know how people can drink the shake with water- makes me nauseated just thinking about it! I've been mixing mine with almond light milk for a long time now. I am the same- I definitely look so much better and can feel the difference in my body as far as getting around , but I need to eat more! I think I'm losing slowly because I don't eat enough. I'm now 10.5 weeks out. Still very noisy after I eat I know it will get better.
12.

Wow, you're further out than me but sounds like your sleeve is giving you a much harder time than mine is, which makes me both happy and sad. Almost like I wish I was playing vomit Russian roulette because then maybe I'd have better success long term!
I think we all go through tough periods but I don't think any of us did anything but the right thing! This will give us a future that without it was just a pipe dream. Yeah Mouse it was much easier in the beginning than now. Now I'm trying different things and having nausea which is understandable sometimes because my stomach is still "new". It is a tough period and I definitely am happy it's just occasional nausea than having surgical complications. That would be a mess. It's not even different foods it's things I've eaten before. My stomach is officially in charge. I need a name for it! Just a tough time right now with my body getting used to the changes
13. I'm glad all worked out for you
14. HG is right Kindle- this does suck sometimes. Mind you, I'm still early in the process and it is most definitely a "new normal." I go in the grocery store now and I walk around and I don't know what to do. I don't know what to buy to eat. I see all the food and it's no longer appealing. It makes me nauseated most of the time. I definitely have thought did I do the right thing- could I have made a change in my relationship with food without doing this? I don't think I could've honestly. But was this too extreme? I don't know. I can't change what I've done, but did I do the right thing? I had to make a change and I have to stand behind my choice. I see other people eat and I'm jealous! You know what else- I watch food chowdown shows that I never watched it this much before. It's crazy! Don't know why I'm doing it. This is definitely a weird time for me. I'm figuring out what I can eat and some days it works and some days it comes back up. I know it's just right now (well I hope it's just right now) but it doesn't suck any less.
15. Their Walmart is huge like Costco- at least the one we went to. Don't make the same mistake me and my mother did-you'll end up on the other side of town! Only take Marriott taxis The doormen are very nice.
16. New Years Challenge CW11/27-272 12/4-266 12/11-crazy at work and I forgot to weigh in 12/18-264 Slowly but surely
17. Good luck to all the soon to be sleevers I think there are a few this week
18. Congrats HAF, Adoptivemom, and Kindle on your upcoming surgeries!
19. I will Karliy The Pemix was the anti-nausea med. And the supradol is a med I was familiar with giving all the time to postop c-section patients called ketorolac or toradol. Wonderful non-narcotic pain med. They gave it to us IV after surgery too.
20. They gave us a nausea med that we took for two weeks if I remember correctly. I don't know if they will sell you extra. I know Mexico is famous for the pharmacies though and I should've gone with my instinct to buy some extra nausea meds for home.
21. OBnurse, are you back to work yet? I'm having the hardest time. I can barely get 3 glasses of water in let alone eat some days when it's busy. How are you doing it at work?
22. Congrats Lew and Mary!! It's a wonderful feeling
23. So ladies I went to the ED yesterday and of course the ED nurse practitioner started telling me oh it's the time of the year when skin gets dry... blah blah and I wanted to tell her "Lady, I'm Black! All we do is put lotion on!" Anyway, she also mentioned itching can come from a low fat diet and I might need to add more fats to my diet. She did labs and X-rays and gave me IV fluids in addition to nausea meds (lifesaver) and itching meds. The itching meds calmed it down a little, but it still didn't stop! I'm so baffled. She sent me home with Zofran (thank you sweet baby Jesus) and told me to call my surgeon. Last night when I got home I was able to keep some chicken soup down. I'm calling OCC in the morning. I was thinking of buying extra nausea meds while I was there, and should have. If I need to, I can always drive down there tomorrow. HoosierGirl, I hope your right. I look like the poor dogs I used to see with fleas scratching themselves raw. Its embarrassing and I know I'm making people nervous, but I can't stop! I'm all blotchy red. Now that I know it's nothing serious, I will take my Benadryl and wait until it passes.
24. No definitely not shingles- shingles are no joke painful and run along nerves. This is just all over generalized itching. Thank you Ann and you're absolutely right. I had to work yesterday- we have so many nurses out right now for various reasons and even one of the other nurses I was with was having issues and we powered through the shift. If I had called off yesterday, they would have been screwed beyond believe we were so busy. I'm going to go to the ED. I just don't want to go and have them send me home with a Benadryl rx and have wasted my time, not to mention my ED co-pay. Drs are so quick to just write off your complaints sometimes and think you're crazy. Now I have 4 days off and don't have to worry about leaving my friends struggling, so it will be handled
