  1. Hello all! I'm self pay so I actually don't know who to talk to about this but I'm 5'5" size 24/26 315 lb I'm guesstimating that I'll hopefully be right under 300 on the day of surgery 10/7/13. I'm thinking that I hope to make it to 170 when it's all said and done and be a 12/14. I feel like I'll never be in single digit sizes. Has anyone my size gotten down to like a 8? And if you are a size 8 how much do you weigh?
  2. Lots of 10/4's! So how anxious are you?
  3. I'm 40 5'5" 313 lbs my goal weight is 165 (I hope that's a realistic goal)
  4. I'm thinking of juicing veggies and an apple or carrot or two and adding in a scoop of unflavored isopure protein and drinking coconut water. I'm going to lay low the first month of course but I really am excited about being able to work out... I've never been athletic and it's a huge goal for me. Besides wearing 5" heels and an adrianna papell dress it's imperative that I get to play sports and ride my bike for 20 miles. I know this isn't happening anytime soon but I'm so worried about energy. I feel like getting this sleeve means cutting out the ball and chain holding me back on life. Sorry rambling again.
  5. But how long did it take "average" I know everyone is different. I'm looking to hit the weights as soon as it is allowed and I'm starting to do some yoga classes at the gym.
  6. What is the best way to cream a soup post op? I was thinking greek yogurt or goat cheese.
  7. Hello fellow Halloweenie sleevers!! I can't wait! So excited to start my journey. I'm scared as hell too because of the dreaded "first 30" but I'm starting to preparation ahead of time. I'm cleaning out my closest tomorrow and I couldn't be happier. No more fat summer clothing for me! Is it just me or is anyone else getting in the farewell to foods? I've been trying to find the best way to prep for protein intake. I was thinking of roasting some turkey and a pot roast (no potatoes) and throwing them in my blendtek with home made chicken stock and making it into paste and filling ice cube trays with it? Also freezing chicken stock in a separate tray. All I have to do for meals is microwave 2 cubes and add a teaspoon of greek yogurt. Sorry I'm rambling :-(
  8. Going to barranquilla, Colombia to be sleeved by Dr.Cure
  9. Okay so I think I'll be at 300 lbs on surgery day. I'm a size 24 5'5" tall and was wondering how long did it take to get into a size 14?? I know I'm doing this for my health and lifelong lifestyle change but I just wanna take a few minutes out to fantasize about a size 14 red dress.
  10. I don't have mine yet but her name will be Tess (Tanya's extra sexy sleeve)
  11. I'm thinking of using Dr. Corvala. Has anyone had him?
  12. That's great! I'll be up there at the seminar waiting to hear if I'll even get to have my surgery there. I'm very excited. Even if they say no at least I'll know I have to make a new move and find something I can afford to pay cash for. I'm not thrilled at the thought of going to another country to have it done but my mind is set on doing this one way or another.
  13. So excited for you! That's great! And I will look into that evergreen hospital thank you! I've been getting some negative feedback from a couple friends today so I'm kinda down. I made the decision and I'm going to do this but it's so hard to hear "just really work out and eat right" and you're just gonna gain it back. I think I'm just not goingt to tell anyone anything from now on. Thank yiu for letting me vent!
  14. Has anyone had a keratin treatment done @ the salon? I had a total hysterectomy and I did a few treatments and it grew back out. I will be bummed out but oh well I'll get over it :-)
  15. I hope you get a lot back
  16. as in the cost of the surgery and what other expenses?
  17. what are you claiming for stateside if you don't mind me asking?
  18. If you cash pay the surgery can you still get the irs deduction if you have the sleeve done outside the u.s.??
  19. Hey chitown! I'm a newbie. I'm going to the seminar on the 15th for info @ northwestern. I know that my insurance won't cover it for sure. Is anyone getting assistance from the hospital ir paying cash? Was curious if they actually do help people without coverage
  20. Mexico seems risky anyone have it done there?
  21. Hi I'm new here. Glad to see that so many are getting the help they need. Has anyone had the procedure done at northwestern? Or with financial assistance frim the hospital? My insurance won't cover it and I'm trying to find out the cost and where is a good place to get it since I'm paying out of pocket.
  22. we have an old 401k that is sitting there collecting dust. I'm not working so he is head of household we live in Chicago and i think the surgery is a lot more than 7k and for right now it's an option i will explore further but i'm looking at everything right now. unfortunately there is no other insurance at his job. thank you all again i'm taking all this into consideration. like she said if there is a will there is a way
  23. This is amazing information thank y'all so much this is actually giving me some hope.
  24. I didn't know the money could be taken from 401k! I have money invested.. is there a big penalty to withdraw from that for surgery or do you just suck it up and pay the tax hit? My hubby will gladly take the money out without question, he wants this for me too. Do you have to get the surgery done in the u.s. if you take it out of 401k?
  25. So you can take out from 401k for surgery?
