I have been trying for almost 3 years now to have the Gastric Sleeve surgery. I finally had the surgery on July 12, 2013. I have fought with my weight all my life from middle school till now and I just got tired of fighting. I have no health problems yet but heart disease, high blood pressure and an array of other ailments run in my family and I wanted to prevent the pain and suffering I've watched so many relatives go thru. I've been trying for years only because my previous jobs co - pay was outrageous and I never seemed to have enough time built up to take off. I now work for the government and they have a program they've worked out with local surgeons and Aetna Insurance, basically if you jump thru all the hoops they require you are basically already approved. Took 6 weeks off (which is a long time but I work at a jail a very dirty place). I'm very excited about surgery and am lucky to have a great support group of friends.
