  1. Has anyone had VSG in Mexico? Of course my insurance won't pay so I am just paying out of pocket. Wanted to know if anyone else went out of the country?
  2. try the Premier Shakes. I think the vanilla has an after taste of ice cream. And who doesn't want ice cream!!! My uncle who is an advid runner said the Sams Club brand is even creamier. But I like the Premier Shakes. I use one for breakfast and lunch. Drink crystal light in between. Then dinner is a little tougher. But try to do lean meat and LOTS AND LOTS of salad.

    self pay woes

I am doing self pay. I hit my 401k. If you have a 401k you can borrow against it for medial expenses that insurance doesn't cover. I know you say Mexico is not an option. But there are two girls in our dept that went and had a great experience. I myself am headed over the border 9/2. Complications can occur whether you have surgery in the states or in another country. My friend ended up with a complication from one of the best surgeons in our area. Yet the two that went to Mexico had no problems. But I understand not wanting to be far from your doctor. When I started this adventure my husband being the guy that is my rock reminded me that thousands of people go to other countries all the time to get surgery done. Good luck! I hope you can find the answer!
  4. So I am to understand the reason we don't drink during meals is because when the pyloric valve knows when things are liquidy enough to pass through it opens up and lets stuff go. We are put on protein shakes. So here is my question. If we drink protein drinks, isn't that liquid that the valve would just open up and let it pass? That the shake wouldn't really stay in our tummy's making us feel full. I know not to drink 30-45 mins before and after eating, but I was just thinking the valve would feel the liquid and blewp there it would go. Can anyone explain?
  5. That's weird. Because I have been using it for my breakfast and the other day lunch too and felt so dang full. I told my husband I am not sure if I will be able to drink 2 of these a day plus other clear liquids.

  11. Hi Everyone! I am having VSG in TJ on Sept 2nd. I know there were some responses but I just can't seem to find it where there were some of you going to Mexico for surgery on 9/2. I would love to put a group of friends together in my email so we can chit chat and help each other on our journey. I know there is a facebook page out there, however I am really computer challenged. I would love to get that link to the facebook page again or reply to this and I will send you my email address. I think the more people I have around me the better I will be when I am having one of those days! Thanks for all the help Bon
