  1. I wish you the best and keep us posted on how it goes. I am looking forward to hearing the good news. My appointment is Tuesday and I am feeling nervous too.
  2. Thank you Carolyn, and congrats to you as well. Here is a bit of my story.... I have been considering this surgery for awhile then I felt like my decision was sealed when my employer finally won the battle to have WLS added as a covered benefit on our plan. After that, I no longer had any excuses and took the plunge! I am keeping the knowledge of my surgery to strickly immediate family, so I have been hoping for support here. I have banned myself from a few threads because they are making me more nervous than supported. I have taken some preop pics (yikes!) and some of those were wearing an outfit I haven't been able to wear in at least 40lbs. I am going to take progression pics westing this to give me visual motivation during the rough Patches. I am excited about the changes that this.surgery will help me make. I have been dealing with low energy, chronic back pain, heel pain, and living like a recluse for far too long. I am ready to shed this fat suit that I have NEVER been comfortable in I wish you all good health and healing in the coming weeks. I will continue sharing my story and I hope everyone here does the same.
  3. I'm so excited for you. I look forward to sharing your progress and hopefully you will have some good tips for the rest of us
  4. What protein shakes would you recommend? What are you putting with your required protein to mix the standard flavor up? I am wanting to get some now and make sure I have some I really enjoy before surgery.
  5. I had my first round of blood test this morning, and managed to get my doctor the last few records he needed. Whew! I have a required seminar next week followed by pre-op appointment the following week. Everything seems much more real to me now, and I couldn't be happier with my decision to FINALLY do this. How is everyone doing with your pre-op requirements? Did any of you have a last meal of those foods we are not supposed to eat post-op?
  6. I am right there with you, nervous excitement for what is to come
  7. How exciting. How are you feeling about the trip?
  8. Congrats, what are you doing to prepare?
  9. Have you contacted the human resources rep at your husband's employer? They usually have a good contact at the insurance company that can provide the requirements. The most important thing is to get the requirements in writing, this will help you tremendously if insurance tries to deny for any reason.
  10. August 14th for me!!!!!
  11. I finally have my surgery date (8/14) and I am beyond excited. Looking for some sleeve buddies to go through this process with. I have been making changes already and so far so good. I have increased my activity level and stopped drinking Diet Dr Pepper, which was a huge change for me. What is everyone else doing to prepare? Does anyone who is post op have any helpful tips for things to have on hand after surgery?
  12. Hey! I am pre-op in Arkansas. When are you attending the seminar? Dr. Baker is my surgeon and I would highly recommend him. I have worked in medical financial services for several years, and I will be happy to help you work through the red tape.
  13. Congrats! My surgery is scheduled for 8/14 too, I wish you the best.
