...Yes.....NJ...they called me @ 4:10pm today stating that I am to check in @ 11:00am tomorrow. I am also approx. 1 hour away from the hospital. Sorry to hear yours is so early, however on the bright side, this may allow you to be home earlier due to beginning your recovery faster. May 14, 2013...time to be determined tomorrow. I hope this surgery will be successful in removing 4 of the 6 ulcers and in addition assist in some weight loss. I am concerned about bleeding as I have had many GI bleeds that have resulted in ICU care. I will endeavor to provide my process here to assist others that are about to have surgery also....Good Luck...

Hi, My name is Gene, I am 59 years old and will have a VGS on May 14th, 2013. I am a bit over weight but the main reason for the surgery is 6 ulcers that I have had for over 2 years that will not heal. I was instructed by my Doctor that this may provide me with some relief and in addition take off some extra weight. I am nervous about the surgery as I have had a couple of serious GI bleeds requiring ICU care for weeks. I am like so many others merely striving to live a normal life. Whether the reason for the surgery is like mine or morbid obesity. I will strive to come here and share my experience with others that MAY be having the operation also.
