    Weight lifting after surgery

Hi Kyle, I waited until I had the go ahead from my surgeon (about 4-6 weeks if I recall). I'm now 14 months out and see a trainer 3 times a week and we lift weights each time. Just take it easy to start, especially as everything heals internally. Sean

    Anybody from Toronto

Hi JosieMac, Surgery went well, and so was the recovery. Still had two incisions that were taking a while to heal, but otherwise been back to work for 3 weeks and started at the gym regularly about 10 days ago. I hired a personal trainer for the year, 2-3 times per week, to ensure I am making the most of this journey. So far down 64 lbs since June 1st (27 lbs pre surgery on liquid diet, and another 37 lbs since surgery). food has been okay, only had one or two instances where either I ate too fast or just a little bit too much...felt heavy chest and watery mouth, but then subsided, So I try to stick to the portions and eat slowly. How has your journey been going? I'm assuming you had your surgery already, is everything what you expected? Keep in touch, would love to hear your success!! Sean

    Any vegetarian sleevers?

So my RN says that Quinoa, Legumes and Beans are all carbs, but as a vegetarian, I know Quinoa is a complete Protein. I waited until I was finished with the pureed food before I introduced Quinoa or beans. I also eat a lot of veggie, fruit and Protein powder smoothies. Lastly, as an emergency, i love the Quest Protein Bars....20 grams of protein, low carb, gluten free and delicious. During the pureed phase, I made a lot of homemade Soups and just added protein powder, Remember to add protein powder when Soup is cold, then slowly re-heat to avoid the lumps. I also made Dahl (Mung Beans),,,lots of protein and blended as a soup, Hope this helps, but would love to hear your suggestions too!

    Jawbone UP vs. Fitbit Flex

I too reviewed both the Up and FitBit, and decided to go with the Jawbone Up, as many reviewers said the FitBit felt cheap and like it was going to break sooner. I like the BlueTooth that comes with the FitBit, although syncing with my iPhone is really easy with the Up. Likes: --sleep Tracker, not really sure how it works, but tells you haw long it took to get to sleep, how many times you woke up, how much "light" sleep, and how much "REM" sleep.....very cool, and fairly accurate! --Silent alarm gradually wakes you up, and you can set it so that anytime upto 30 mins before it goes off, it will wake you when you are out of REM sleep. This is the easiest on your system. --Daily Reminders when you have been sedentary for too long...I set for an hour while at work, and it buzzes every hour if I haven't gotten up to walk,,,,great reminder to walk to kitchen or watering hole to ensure you get some movement. PowerNap - set this, and it will wake you up in either 30-45 mins, which they say is the perfect nap Otherwise, really happy with this. I set it for 5000 steps a day to start, and can't believe how it challenges me to ensure I complete it every day. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    June surgery dates

Sleeved June 26th. HW: 470 SW: 443 CW: 413 Can eat almost anything, but certain foods go down slower and uncomfortable. Lots of Soups, Cereal, tuna, eggs. Still like to blend things like tuna and eggs, goes down better. Like Protein shakes, but only with unflavoured Protein powder, as all the rest i've tried seem too sweet. Rice cakes are great, but too many carbs so just as a treat.
  6. I am 6 days post-opp and still have a sore throat. I had a cold right after surgery which is almost gone, but still have a sore throat. Anyone else like this, and did you do anything that worked to help it go away? Thanks

  8. Having surgery June 26th, and as a vegetarian, I'm concerned by the first month of liquid or soft food. Has anyone tried some of the "Greens+" or similar products in powder form to add to your daily protein drinks?
