  1. I just started having reflux the past two months. I am not too tight (I was at 7.4 cc's too tight, now at 7.0 cc's with good restriction) I bought Prilosec OTC and the box says to only take for 14 days and then stop. At about day 16 the reflux returned. Can I keep taking the Prilosec? I know quite a few people (not banded) who take it regularly.
  2. I just asked my lapband doctor about Advil last week (I suffer from terrible migraines) she said to try and limit Advil it can cause ulcers. She said that if I do need to take Advil take a Pepcid AC along with the Advil to help coat the stomach.
  3. mgirl, I also had a fill yesturday (my 4th) and have really bad gas, my stomach is still bloated and I have minor heartburn. This has never happened to me before so I figured my stomach just needs time to calm down. I did take 2 rolaids this morning and feel pretty good now. I know for a fact that I am not too tight, I was at 7.4 cc and had to be unfilled to 6.6 around xmas. I went back up to 6.9 which I think is a perfect fill amount.
  4. I also have the AP 10cc band and am currently at a 6.6 fill and have little to no restriction. I was at 7.4 for 6 weeks and was way too tight so unfilled on 12/1/08. I go back on 1/8/09 and plan to ask for small fill. You should be getting close at 6.3. I have been banded exactly one year and have lost 41 pounds (I am thrilled with this amount) my weight has remained pretty steady for the last three weeks even though I have no restriction.
  5. I am a year post op and I still cannot sleep on my right side because I also get a weird, slightly painful "squeezing" sensation. I figured I am pushing/smashing something into my band. So, if you are feeling the same kind of thing, mine never went away.
  6. I am one of those people who PB'd almost daily. I just came from my doctors office, she had to take 1 cc out of my 10cc band. I became so swollen over the last few days that no solid food would go down, I was on liquids only for 2 days (not by choice) and scared to death. I feel so relieved. I have to stay on liquids for 3 days then soft food, and slowly start back on meats and harder to chew foods. So, for those of you who get stuck a lot, be careful that you don't start to swell also, I was terrified that my band had slipped.
  7. I went through Park Nicollet Clinic in St. Louis Park. Dr. Wetherrille did my surgery. The PA's do all the aftercare and they are wonderful. I would for sure recommend PNC.
  8. I got sick the day before my surgery with a nasty headcold (was running a temp) and they still did the surgery. They told me that if my lungs are clear then it is no big deal. Good Luck!
  9. Usually every Friday or Saturday I sit down and enjoy a Captain Morgan/Diet coke to relax. No problems ever with gas.
  10. This also happens to me a lot. On Tuesday I could barely swallow my morning coffee so stuck to mushie food most of the day because I felt so tight. On Wednesday things went down much easier and felt no restriction later in the day and was able to eat two pieces of pizza for dinner. I had my surgery last December and have lost 34 pounds (I am okay with this amount, losing 3-4 pounds a month is all I want to do). I am scheduled for a fill on the 20th of October but as of now I plan to cancel this appointment.
  11. My nine year old son is type 1 diabetic and his doctor now suspects he also has celiacs so he wants us to start following a gluten free diet. I have been banded since last December and see no problem with me also following a gluten free diet. I seem to get stuck on breads and other doughy foods so I think it will be good for me, I won't be as tempted to treat myself with foods my son can no longer eat!
  12. I just asked my doctor this very same question on Monday - what can I take when my back goes out as Tylenol does nothing. He said Advil - liqui-gels are fine. I also start with just one and that usually does the trick! JE
  13. I was banded on 12/19 and so far have lost 22 pounds. I am okay with with loss. The doctor told me at my follow up visit that with this new Allergan band many people are making it 4 mos. before they need a fill. I hope I am one of them. I have an appointment this Monday the 25th but don't think I need a fill yet. JE:rolleyes:
